Good, except for uncomfortable bed

The hotel was clean, the pool was nice, and the manager (a Caucasian woman) was accommodating. It was 5 mins away from the Surin Beach. The room itself is big (we stayed in a standard room) but it was quite too plain. I don't mind this as it's a low price. However they could invest a bit more on the bed mattress which was too hard and we could feel the springs. The pillows were also too big and uncomfortable. We didn't sleep well.

The hotel is somewhat dated. Since it has been recently taken over, changes will probably take some time.

Good sized rooms .... casual management

Room size was at the better end of the scale.
Room was clean as was bathroom.
At $Aust245 , do not believe it was value for money when compared to other offers around.
No tea/coffee making facilities in room.
Balcony, although large'ish, is a wasted space because of wall height & aircon unit badly placed.
General state of repair .... needs attention.
Manage was friendly, yet very casual. Sometimes management needs to be a little more than casual .... just sayin' :-)
Restaurant .... nice.
Immediate beach .... one of the quieter beaches, & walking distance to Bangtao (better choice of dining) & LaemSingh (great, more intimate beach).
Would I stay again .... probably not.
Surrounded by some quite nice resorts.
Good proximity to beach, but expensive transport options to access other parts of the island.
観光:
If staying at Surin Beach ... make the effort to climb down the ugly track to Laem Singh Beach & it's rustic little restaurant ... basic, but views to remember :-)

Good budget hotel

The best description of the Surin Sweet is a little piece of Italy in Phuket. It is run by Valentina and Matteo and atttracts a mostly Italian clientelle, at least that was the case during our stay. So Thai atmosphere is not at all evident.
The restaurant serves Pizza and Pasta and is very popular during the evenings.
Breakfast was OK for a budget hotel, and it is extra. So there is always the option to go out somehwere else for breaakfast. Blue Lagoon is a good alternative.
The pool is a good size. It's located in front of the hotel but well screened from the street. The location means the pool receives the sun all day. Pool furniture is rather tired and could do with replacing.
For a budget hotel the standard of maintenance is very good, everything works well - aircon, TV system, and there is a good supply of hot water all day.

Just remember that breakfast is not inclusive and costs per day. For the same price breakfast can be taken at nearby restaurants.

great location, but very budget

we stayed here for a night in transit, and it was fine, but its quite shabby and has not been renovated for way too long. there are no lift either so we had to carry our large suitcase to 3rd level, which was not ideal. the rooms are very spacious, and the airconditioner is great, but balcony doors were brocken, the bathroom is unattractive and chipped, and its just one of those places you dont want to spend time in. the photos make it look better than what it is.
the staff were great though, so if you are looking for budget accommodation in a good location at surin beach and dont care what the place looks like, then its good. but the accommodation that we had in phuket town for $ per night more, was 10 times better than this. everything in surin beach is over-priced so this is probably good value if you have to stay in surin

The hotel is quite OK for the price. Rooms are quite big and clean. No luxury here but this is not what you are paying for. Breakfast is minimal but OK. The hotel is located 5min walk from the beach.
