Staff is friendly and the room was clean. Also the location is good. Close to the bus and train station. Another plus is that you can have coffee (real coffee from a machine) and tea for free. The negatives are the size of the room and the bed. We had a standard room for two people. But it’s just too small. Almost zero space to put your luggage somewhere. The biggest downside is the very uncomfortable bed. The mattress is rock-solid. It feels like you are lying on a stone. We woke up in the middle of the night with pain in the shoulders. It’s acceptable for one night but not for longer.

We had a good stay at Arch Inn, it had all the necessities, and was in a quiet location close to the train station, breakfast and convenient stores. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend hiring a bike or scooter for easier travel around Hualien.

Pros~ value of money Cons~ not soundproof room ,floor is plain ,slippers would be nice if they were disposable,they look so used and stinky i didn't touch it, sink bit slow drain. Over all its cheap hotel and its fine,don't expect much.

Very Near the Train and Hop-on Hop off Bus Stations”
We wanted to see Taroko. We chose Hualien because we will be in the city itself over the more quiet and suburban Xincheng. Arch Inn is just a couple of hundred meters walk from the Train and Bus Station.where we bought a two-day unlimited hop on/off bus ticket to Taroko. The Arch Inn must have been previously a walk-up apartment converted into an Inn/Hotel. It's looks like it had a recent refurbishment. Our room was nice and brightly painted and well lighed. Nicely designed toilet and shower room with quite new fixtures. Although the room had no windows it served its purpose for us because we were mostly out on tour anyway. The separate reception had a homey atmosphere. Artistically although a bit kitschy the owners managed to make the place very pleasant. They had two black dogs in the reception. Ok for me because I am a pet dog owner and lover (2 also in fact). Everyday we helped ourselves to bottled waters at the reception which they offerd for free. The owner's son was the receptionist during our 3 night stay. He was very friendly Spoke slowly thought out but very good English. He also volunteered to print google maps for us and if we needed to to map out excursions. Tip: Just get a good google map of Arch Inn. It's really near the station. When you get off the train station there are two marked paths towards the town. Take the left one and walk on staying mostly on the left towards town and walk on a slightly curving street. Soon you will hit the main street of Guolian 5 and you can't be far from Guoshieng Stree or Rd. which is where the inn is. You won't miss the Arch Inn sigh

It was my best experience ever and I highly recommend it to everyone. Service was better than 5 star hotel. Very resourceful and helpful staff who go the extra miles. Best value for money for a good clean room with comfortable space and bed for a single room accomodaion. Whats more the TV provided is HD and big screen with 200 over channels. I had an awesome time in Hualien because of the good hospitality of all staff in Arch Inn. The lady boss even send me off to railway station. The only thing is the lack of lift for the meantime but heard that they will be upgrading with lift soon.

We had arrived at Arch Inn not exactly having a concrete plan as to our sightseeing plans in Hualien due to some unforeseen changes in our itinerary. Yet upon arrival, the staff (sorry for not getting your name) were simply amazing. Without reservation, they advised us to take a later train to our next destination so that we could save money on the sightseeing tour, as there were some carpool tours that would be so much more affordable to us than if we hired a private driver to bring us around. Thereafter the man at the counter helped us to rebook our train tickets so we wouldn't miss our departing train. Great great service! Thanks so much!

Best place to stay in Hualien”
We decided to go for this after careful consideration as we did not have enough information about hualien. The hotel was a little far away from the Hualien Station compared to other hotels we searched about. As soon as we reached , we found the place to be very simple and youthful. The reception area looked very nice and the person in charge was a very polite gentleman. He managed to speak decent English and was helpful in giving us tips on how to travel and what time do shops close. Hualien is a very very laid back town. The rooms were very very simple and cannot expect too much for the price. We stayed only for one night but it was totally worth it.

Vibrant hostel with a cozy atmosphere and complete amenities!”
We were a group of 8 and had booked 2 quad rooms at Arch Inn. The quad rooms were actually meant to be booked by a solo traveller, like a bunk bed type of accommodation. However, since we fit the required number of people perfectly, we decided to go with these 2 rooms instead, since it will be cheaper for us. All I can say was that this was the best hostel our group of friends have ever stayed at. The interior of the place was so pretty, and the room was super cozy. We had everything we needed within the small space. The shower was in a separate cubicle from the toilet, and the sink was also in a separate cubicle. The bed was super soft, and the aircon was so cool. I had the best sleep during my trip here. The facilities were complete as well. There were dogs downstairs and we played with them! The only downside that I can say is that I wish the toilet was not just open inside the room. There is an opening on the CR so if ever one of your mates poop... The whole room will smell awful

The room looks exactly the same as the picture shown online. The hostel was located just a few blocks away from Hualien station and there's convenient store just a block away. I was surprised that they have fox movie and Disney channel coz it's quite unusual. I have never seen another hostel or hotel with these channels for free!! The bathroom was very clean and tidy with shampoo and body wash provided. Staff are nice and helpful. My plane delayed for almost two hours. By the time I arrived, it's almost midnight. It's so nice for them to have waited us for so long!!!!! Just two blocks away there's a store for electric motorbike rental and it's convenient to travel around the city by motorbike. One disadvantage is that they don't have elevator so we need to carry our luggages upstairs. The staff was rly helpful that he helped us carrying them up. I do think ppl wouldn't mind walking upstairs for this enjoyable stay. (FYI: just one floor!)

The disposable towels were a little strange. Other than that, the stay was pretty good; room was pretty clean, staff were friendly. Location is about 10 minutes from the train station. Would recommend - a great experience. It's good to note that the Inn is a 30-45 minute walk from the Dongdamen Night Market. The bus comes roughly once every hour, but the roads can get extremely crowded - walking there was faster than taking the bus (so was walking back), so if the Night Market is somewhere you plan to go often, Arch Inn might be a little far. (Note: Owner has large dogs. Not a plus or minus point in any way, just for consideration)

Beautiful place to stay with very nice owners”
Owners were very nice and accommodating, helpful with any question. Too bad Hualien isn't in a tourist district with many things to do or otherwise i would have loved to stay here in this inn for our entire trip :) Very cute and artsy decor, even has free snacks for guests and very homey place to stay in. Loved it all the way! Highly recommended !

Recommended for Budget Travellers ”
Staff at Arch Inn were friendly, although language is a slight issue. They assisted as much as they could with our various queries/requests. The place was clean, cosy and well decorated. However, the towels provided were disposables - not the most comfortable. They provided more upon requests as we were staying a few days. There were 2 fairly big dogs which we weren't aware of when we booked. I didn't mind as I have one of my own, but as it may be an issue for some guests, this should be made known from the start. Overall a pleasant experience for the price.

Very cosy room”
Had a fantastic stay at Arch Inn with ladyboss and the female staff being extremely helpful. Came without much plans but with their suggestions, went on taroko gorge tour and the female staff helped me check train timings & plan a jiaoxi trip for hotsprings as I told her I am interested in going to Taipei's Xinbeitou. Love their service, and the room is very clean and well designed. I am happy I stayed here.
