Cute hotel in great location”
I was tired of staying in hostels throughout Thailand and decided to stay somewhere nice for a change. I got a deluxe room on the 5th floor at Chang Thai House. My room was beautifully decorated and color-coordinated and it made me feel at home. The view from the balcony was okay... there was a chicken coop nearby and roosters made a lot of noise, but they didn't bother me because I am an early-riser. The free wireless internet worked very well. They provide you with a bath robe and slippers. Bed was comfortable. When I came back in the evening, my room was tidy and restocked with free bottled water. There is a small pool by the lobby that looked inviting, but it didn't seem to get enough sunlight. The breakfast is buffet style and pretty good. It was very convenient to be able to grab some toast, fruit and coffee before going out for the the day. I especially liked the porridge. The staff was nice enough, but I wished they had more direction when it came to booking tours. The tour help desk looked lost whenever I asked them to give me more details about specific tours. Luckily, I enjoyed the two tours they recommended (trekking and a Thai cooking class). The location is great because most tourist locations are within walking distance. It's about an 8 minute walk to the Night Bazaar down a residential street that can get pretty dark at night, but I didn't feel endangered. Overall, I was very satisfied with Chang Thai House and I would stay here again.

Lovely boutique hotel”
We stayed 3 nights in Chang Thai house. It was a smaller boutique hotel with great large rooms and walking distance to most attractions like night bazaar markets and old stone gates. the breakfast was good but dont expect a big buffet. Its more made to order type of service. We also ate dinner in hotel for 3 days as we got sick with some horrible virus and lived at the hotel for the whole time in Chaing Mai. The staff were incredibly helpful, kind and courteous especially when they organised for both of us to get to the local hospital for medication and treatment.Transfer from hotel to airport was about 15mins drive and they have a service from the hotel and it was cheaper than the taxi.

Chiang Mai stay-August 2010”
I don't normally do this, to be honest, but I feel that the staff at this hotel were brilliant. As I was staying for a week, I talked to most of them and, without exception, they were friendly, helpful and hospitable. For the money I paid, I can't really fault my room, either. Yes, the bed had a broken part to it underneath, but, when I pointed it out, it was fixed immediately. Advice re possible trips was good and I followed it-without any complaint, on my part. I am likely to be going back to Chiang Mai next year and, if I do, I will, most certainly, be going back to the Chang Thai!

Quiet location in clean boutique hotel ”
i stayed a week and the service was faultless, menu good, breakfast varied(ie thai food at breakfast changed daily),staff all consistently good, pool clean, room spotless, quiet handy location . this ranks as the best smaller hotels i've had the pleasure of staying in. happy staff at all levels means management know what they are doing. i'll stay there again and recommend it to others. this is a real gem. plenty of day trips organized and tourists seemed happy here. well done chang thai house.

nice hotel,”
chang thai house is nice hotel located in a quite area. we felt that we were in a typical chiang mai hotel. the room was a bit noisy but we could deal with it. People in chiang mai are not very good in english, but one of their staff were pretty good, which was very convenient for us. service is great, breakfast acceptable, and hotel is not to far from old city.

What a great choice we made”
From the start we were happy with our choice of Chang Tai. The rooms were clean especially the bathrooms which is always icky at budget guest houses. Really cute tiling work in the bathrooms and the bed was a lovely king sized bed in a clean, spacious room. Everything worked from the air-cons, the water heater, the fridge, the TV and the wireless so no problems at all. The staff were excellent and had a genuine love and care for our young son so it was like having an extra pair of hands to baby sit! The location was also excellent 10 mins walking to the night market, really close to the old city and quiet and peaceful at night. And also close by to som yummy local street food. Thanks Chang Thai!

Great location, nice rooms.”
chang thai house is a 5 min walk to the old city and 10 min walk to the night bazaar. the hotel itself is very nicely fitted out in lanna style with large rooms and small but functional bathrooms. the breakfast provided which came with the booking, was buffet style and consisted of two types of cereal, salad, fresh pineapple and watermelon slices, a thai stir fry with rice, toast, fried eggs, ham, breakfast sausage, tea/coffe and juices. there is also a very small pool, which is more of a dipping pool than a "swimming pool". the rooms were cleaned daily and made up very smartly - although the shower recess could do with a large dose of bleach for the moldy grout. upon our arrival at chang thai, the staff had trouble with our booking as they had only allocated 1 room to us when we had a pre-paid agoda voucher for 2 rooms. we were then subsequently allocated 2 rooms on the ground floor which weren't the best. for starters, the window at the he'd of the bed although frosted looked into the cleaners cupboard, and the second room we had had a (un) pleasant outlook into the kitchen passageway. as we were so close to the kitchen and cleanes area, we were woken very early each morning by clanging pots and the cleaner poking about in the cupboard!! oh well........just decided to wear our earplugs! the staff were very young and although friendly and helpful when asked, did not have the maturity to anticipate the needs of guests.

Cute tucked away guest house in Chiang Mai”
First place we stayed at in Chiang Mai and it was very cute and quaint. Friendliest people in Thailand reside in Chiang Mai, so the service was excellent. Much better than the Centara which is located in the Night Bazaar. Chiang Thai House was far away from the ruckus but close enough to walk to the Night Bazaar. Loved it, would go back!

Great little hotel”
A friend recommended me to this sweet little hotel and I also recommend it to others. It has six floors, a nice elevator (lift), a swimming pool, and clean, airy rooms that are well designed for comfort. It is close to everything and you can walk into the town. The staff is very helpful and my stay was very comfortable at the Chang Thai House!

Charming”
Our stay at Chang Thai House was very pleasant. Although it was a little different having the executive suite with no bathroom door, so be prepared for that one if you're a couple. The hotel was clean, breakfast was good and the staff was helpful. The water in the jacuzzi ran dirty with sediment, but that may just be Chiang Mai's infrastructure. Nonetheless we were disappointed that we could not use the jacuzzi during our stay. Overall, yes, book here. It's comfortable, clean, and close to the Old City and all of the tours you could want.

We really enjoyed our stay at Chang Thai House. Quiet and clean. It is near to the old city, Thapae gate and Chiang Mai Gate are just around the corner. Great place and worth the value.

Good Location & Price”
i stayed at the chang thai house when i was attending a conference. the conference was at a large hotel (the empress), but i wanted something a bit more thai and away from the large tourist hotel. the chang thai house fit the bill just perfectly. it was inexpensive and very close to the old city. many of the landmarks and temples are easily walkable from the chang thai house. the hotel itself was clean and the rooms were nice. i had a balcony that looked west towards the old city. the beds were hard (but, so are most hotel beds). breakfast was nothing special, but it was fine. all-in-all, it met my needs just fine.

Highly recommended ”
I would strongly suggest you have a good look at this hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and always ready to help where ever they can. The food in the restaurant is superb and so so cheap. A very pleasurable experience, THANK YOU Chang Thai House for a nice holiday :)

Nice little hotel”
We enjoyed our stay at Chang Thai House. Open-air lobby offers a comforting entrance with the necessary amenities such as free internet access, food and swimming pool. We didn't actually use the swimming pool because it is directly connected to reception and is overlooked by some building renovations. Ultimately however, we didn't need to use it because there were plenty of other things to do, and that is not the reason to travel all the way to chang mai, to sit at the pool. The staff are helpful when it comes to organising excursions and it is very convenient in that you are always picked up right at the door. The room was of a very good standard, spacious and well maintained. The only place for improvement would be the restaurant side of things - breakfast was basic, but felt worse because of the number of flies around the food.

Very clean, nice hotel.”
I really enjoyed my stay at the Chang Thai House. The staff is very professional and the room was spotlessly clean. I didn't have time to use the pool but I saw several other people using the pool and it looked like a lot of fun.

Good location, comfortable room”
I appreciated Chang Thai House's cleanliness and effort to provide good customer services. The breakfast buffet was pretty good with Thai and Western options. My room was spacious, clean and had good wifi connection. Heads up: Room 111 should get a new bed. I could feel the metal springs on the bed, nevertheless it was manageable.

Good enough for the price”
My two friends and I stayed at the Chang Thai House for three nights. For what we paid, it was just fine. The breakfast was good. The lobby was a very comfortable place to wait for rides. The pool was small but looked nice (we were too busy shopping to have time for a swim). The beds were ok - the third bed was exceptionally hard but I've lived in hard mattress places long enough that it didn't bother me. It's a little bit off the normal tourist paths but we could easily walk to and from the Night Bazaar - just make sure you have a good map/Google maps. I would stay there again if the price were right.

Charming hotel with friendly and helpful staff”
we were greeted with a smile at arrival and well explained how to get around town...things to do and visit...all over a very clear map of chiang mai. guesthouse very quaint and charming. rooms perfectly clean...every day. bed most comfortable. breakfast is included. a little repetitive over a long stay, but all essentials are there. staff always ready to help out. overall, i would definitely recommend this hotel. close enough to walk to many local tourist sites and transportation. they also have tours available on site.

Nice Room”
We stayed there 5 nights and did a lot of things in Chiang Mai. The Hotel is located near the night market but still you have to walk a little bit witch wasnt a problem for us. the room was very big and clean. Breakfast was totally ok, enough for us. The pool is small but nice for cooling down. It takes 10 min to walk to the old town which was ok. Because you can hire motobikes for 125 Baht near the hotel.

I didn't want to leave!!”
I traveled all over Thailand for a month, and this was one of the best experiences of places to stay. It really felt "fancy " compared to other places I stayed. Beautiful structure, colors, design, great pool, super nice room/bathroom, spacious and clean. Awesome staff, so helpful. Great free breakfast in beautiful location. I loved Chiang Mai too!
