it was our great joy during our stay in rimping village makes me to write this review. my wife and i have stayed there for 7 nights for our vacation in chiang mai. we have to acknowledge that was the most enjoyable experiences with a hotel after staying in about 70 hotels in more than 20 countries. located outside the old town, the hotel provides you a very quiet recreation environment. with not more than 10 minutes maximum 80 bt. by tuk-tuk car, you can get all the attractions as temples and night markets. though the variety of breakfast is not that much, to us, that was enough and food was very nice, especially the fresh fruits. the hotel is so professional on details, from the airport pick-up, flowers in the room, the lovely balcony to the pool-side leisure area, you can always get surprises. the most remarkable element is the hotel staff. from day one, we started to remember their slogan – we want you happy! and they really made us more than happy! we had our wedding anniversary and my wife’s birthday there, they were so considerate arranging for the heart-shape roses and the birthday cake secretly, even with our chinese “birth animal” on it! how could they know that? they would consider everything for you even before you think about it. i hope the hotel owner could see this review, as he/she should be very proud of the team. from the sincere smiling faces, you can tell, they love the job, they like the guests! now we understand why rimping village is ranked no. 1 hotel in chiang mai. if i could give the hotel a “six star”, i’d do it at the first second! we’ll be back as we said when we left.

Excellent service, great value”
We stayed at Rimping Village for 3 out of 5 days of our honeymoon trip to Chiang Mai. We didn't stay longer because we had previously booked 2 days at another hotel. However, after staying at a much more expensive hotel for the other 2 days, I wish we had just stayed at Rimping Village. The service was so good - genuine, warm and friendly. From the airport pickup to the complimentary ride to the other hotel (yes, they even politely drove us over to a competitor after we checked out - and for free!) my husband and I were blown away by the level of service. The rooms aren't super fancy, but they are clean and spacious. There was a lovely balcony, and the bathroom in our deluxe room had an amazing, deep bathtub that I loved!! The one thing that was a bit problematic was that you can sometimes hear noise from guests or workers in the hallway. This was only a problem some of the time, and once I woke up at 4:45am in the morning because the room next to us had an early check out and I could hear them loud and clear. The one thing I must say in defense of this is that we had the exact same problem at the other hotel we stayed at in Chiang Mai. I think the type of building it is allows for sound to travel easily. Despite this, I would definitely recommend staying here. The price is very reasonable, the location is great, and the service will make you very happy you chose to stay at Rimping Village!

Amazing hotel”
We loved the Rimping Village Hotel as soon as we arrived at Chiang Mai. First of all, the staff received us at the airport with big smiles and drove us to the hotel - for free. Then as soon as we arrived at the hotel, we received a small wet towel and a glass of cold apple juice. Most of our activities at Chiang Mai were booked by the staff - elephant tours, cooking classes, massages. The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful. They answered all our questions and helped us with whatever we needed. Moreover, the staff always remembered our names and our room number; when we came back to the hotel at night, they would always greet us with smiles and ask us how the activity went. At the end of our stay at Rimping Village, there was also free airport shuttle provided by the hotel. However, halfway to the airport, I realized that I left my camera charger at the hotel - i called the hotel immediately and they found it for me. I didn't even have to tell them my room number because the staff recognized my voice. The driver took us back to the hotel and the staff gave me back my charger. Throughout the entire process, they were very helpful and very friendly.

Highly recommended!”
Rimping Village was by far the best hotel we found in Thailand. I have waited to the end of our honeymoon to write this review because this is our first time in Thailand and I thought that maybe all hotels in this wonderful country are like that, but no, this one is a real gem and you won't regret staying there. We have stayed at pricier 5 stars hotels and didn't get the same feeling we got from Rimping Village. The staff is absolutely wonderful, they did above and beyond what is expected from a hotel staff to make sure we enjoy our stay! We needed to exchange money at a late hour - they sent someone to do it for us. We thought about going to Chiang Rai and asked some questions, they continue searching for options and info and approached us like half an hour later with photo copies of travel books and prints from web sites. And I'm not even talking about one special employee, but every one of them, in the restaurant, in the reception, everywhere... Beside that, rooms are wonderful, very nice pool, very good breakfast, close to everything and if you need to go someplace far (like the big temple) again someone from the hotel staff will call a Tuk Tuk and negotiate the price for you

Very friendly and helpful staff”
We stayed at Rimping Village Hotel for two nights, then went to the Elephant Nature Park for one night, then returned to the Rimping Village Hotel for one more night. When we first checked in they offered right away to store our luggage while we were away at the park. We walked to the nearby night market our first night there. The next day we used the free bikes provided by the hotel to cycle around the old city. Then we rented a motorbike to go to the Handicraft villages east of Chiang Mai. Unfortunately we skidded off the bike on wet pavement. When we got back to the hotel the staff were very caring and helped us to clean and dress our wounds, and they drove us for free to and from the hospital when we decided we should get x-rays done. We were very glad to be staying at Rimping Village Hotel during this time.

Great holiday hotel”
We recently spent three nights at the Rimping Village hotel and found it to be close to ideal for our needs. The hotel is conveniently positioned, enabling us to walk to the city centre, the various street markets and the plethera of restaurants. The staff were very efficient and friendly, and always looking to do that little bit extra to ensure our stay was as perfect as possible. We were in Chiang Mai in October and the hotel, with its 24 rooms, was far from being full. Breakfast was good and on the one occasion that we had dinner there the food was good and not expensive (as hotel food so often is). Before arriving at Rimping we didn't really know what to expect, so to set the right expectation I think it's important to understand that the hotel is neither a business nor a luxury hotel but what it is is a good holiday hotel suitable for singles to families. Our one criticism would be that our room, though spacious and well-appointed, was dimly lit no matter how many lights we put on, which did little for the ambience. A line over the bath for dripping costumes would also have been a welcome addition

Rimping village”
Rimping village Set back in a quiet little backstreet of Chang Mai , rimping village is a low rise retreat like hotel, with white stone walls and dark wooden beams. The natural materials, and colourful plants and seating areas give the place a rustic charm. Following a warm welcome from the friendly hotel staff, we were shown to our room, through a peaceful court yard and up a flight of terracotta stone steps. Outside each room a small pot of incense smoulders throughout the day giving a wonderful ambience. Our room was basic but clean with a bath/shower and constant hot water. The only negative here was that the shower head sits at a strange angle meaning users have to lean at an awkward angle to prevent the floor from flooding. We were happy to discover a spacious balcony looking out into the picturesque courtyard. The room carries most amenities and anything else required can be delivered from reception. Free bottles of water are provided on a daily basis as well as a bowl of fresh fruit. The hotel provides the usual basic toiletries, selection of interesting and helpful local magazines and fresh towels daily if required. We didn't eat lunch or dinner at the hotel as we prefer to explore the local area, but breakfast was always sufficient with a selection of fresh fruit, granola, croissants as well as the usual hot buffet, teas, coffees and cold drinks. The hotel pool is serene and pretty surrounded by a gigantic banyan tree and rows of comfy wooden loungers which are always tidy and available. Staff constantly clean the pool and surrounding areas keeping it neat. The hotel provides gorgeous bicycles for guests to use free of cost which is a lovely gesture. All staff (including hotel security guard) are polite, gracious and considerably helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would most definitely come again

Memorable stay at Rimping Village Hotel”
We stayed at Rimping Village hotel Chiang Mai from 17 Oct 2009 -20 Oct 2009 after reading reviews from TripAdvisor. We have no regrets and it was a pleasant experience throughout. We would certainly come back and stay there again. From the time we checked in, the staff were most friendly, helpful , pleasant and polite. We forgot to bring a couple of essentials and they supplied those items at no extra cost. I needed a pair of sandals to be repaired and asked for the nearest cobbler and, guess what, the hotel staff took it to the cobbler and got it repaired for me while we enjoyed out tour for the day.I saw something I liked and asked them where I could buy it and again the receptionist took it upon herself to buy it for me. It is not a 5 star hotel but the service and treatment accorded is better than 5 star. The staff exude such a personal and warm touch that is rarely found elsewhere. Breakfast was good and setting was rustic. You could eat in the dining area or under the banyan tree. I will go back to thsi hotel when I next visit Chiangmai

Splendidly wonderful”
Booked their entry-level superior room for two night stay over a weekend. Great rates (booked through Agoda website) which include everything essentially! First, the room itself. King-size bed was huge. A little hard on the back but still very nice to lie on. The room is excellently equipped with most of what you could hope for in a great hotel. It is nicely, perhaps a touch on the minimalist side, decorated and very very clean. Swimming pool is well designed and is surrounded by fantastic settings of sun bathing day beds. Breakfast was perfectly adequate for a hotel of this size (only 34 rooms in total) with high quality fresh fruits, bakery items, hot and cold selections on offer. Rimping Village's best asset has to be their staffs who ALWAYS appear happy to be working there. We got a genuine sense of harmony among the staffs. They are very polite, even to us local Thai tourists, which is a credit to them. We can thoroughly and wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone planning to visit Chiang Mai. For the price you pay, you will not be disappointed! Our sincerest thanks must go to Rimping Village staffs for making our stay truly memorable.

Absolutely lovely hotel,unbelievably helpful staff”
Our stay at the Rimping Village Hotel was probably the most enjoyable on our month-long trip so far! The rooms are just lovely, have all the facilities you need, very spacious and impeccably clean. The extras are also very nice, such as the free use of their bicycles, free DVDs to borrow, free lanterns and krathongs for the Loi Krathong festival and the breakfast is great. The hotel is in a great location, just across the river from the Night Bazaar (5 minute walk), and very quiet. The pool is lovely and the grounds are also kept to a very high standard. The hotel staff gave 5 star service, helping us with changing a flight reservation (calling on our behalf, giving their email for confirmation and printing it out for us) and various other issues. They also gave us a free ride in the hotel's very comfortable jeep to the airport. After a short while they called us to say we had left my husband's ring in the room, and drove all the way back to the airport just to give it to us. Luckily we had just enough time to collect it before boarding our flight. I really cannot speak highly enough of the amazing service and will definitely stay there again when I next come to Chiang Mai!!!

Loved the rimping village”
We stayed at the Rimping village for 3 nights and we had a great stay. The hotel is designed in Lana style and is very well maintained. The rooms are clean and neat, the pool is beautiful and the breakfast was delicious. The hotel staff really make the hotel they are gracious, and very helpful. They helped us decide the best way to use our time in Chiang Mai, they made phone calls for us and gave us good advice. The hotel location is also ideal. It is just outside of the old city, an easy walk gets you to the riverside, the night market, and into the old city. We did use Tuk Tuks a few times, but that too is very easy and actually fun. Overall we had a great time in Chiang Mai and at the Rimping Village, we would definitely stay there again.

Great place to stay”
We recently stayed at the Rimping Village Hotel in Chiang Mai. From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff. Upon arrival we were upgraded to a suite (room 413) the room was spacious and very comfortable although we had some local wildlife nearby (rooster starting about 4am) that was a little noisy. the facilities are excellent and the hotel is located just a short ten minute walk from the Chiang Mai night market (walking street) and other attractions (shopping centre, temples etc). The best thing about the hotel was the staff. They went to the trouble of learning our names and arranging any tours or activities for us. They really made us feel like we were the only guests. I would certainly recommend Rimping Village Hotel.

Rimping Village, Holiday Delight”
We read the reviews of all the hotels in Chiang Mai and always came back to the Rimping Village as the best value. Of course, with the help of the staff, we decided to rent a car which was very reasonable (800 Baht per day) and got to see a greater diversity of site in the Chiang Mai area. The site of the hotel is a gorgeous setting with the large Banyan Tree and all the flowers and other srubbery. The grounds are impeccable. Having a complimentary wireless internet was a big help to keep in touch with the outside world. Even though it was protrayed more for the family, it was the perfect 'honeymoon' spot for couples. We would heartily recommend it to all and would consider only the Rimping if we visit Chiang Mai again.

Fairly new well designed hotel, fantastic service.”
We arrived during the Loy Krathong festival, which was an unforgettable experience. This small hotel is ideally situated near the river Ping in the heart of the festivities. The staff presented every guest with a "krathong" to float down the river. The food in the hotel was excellent and reasonably priced. The rooms spotlessly clean and fresh. The hotel is in easy walking distance of the fabulous night market, and about a kilometre from the old town. The hotel will arrange taxis and tuk-tuks. There are a huge amount of interesting places to visit near Chiang Mai, we would like to return one day for more exploring. Would not think of staying anywhere other than the Rimping Village Hotel.

Excellent !!”
We chose Rimping Village Hotel after reading all the positive reviews and we certainly weren't disappointed. Everything about this hotel was great! Fantastic staff, could not have been more helpful, all went out of their way to ensure our stay in Chiang Mai was perfect. Great location, quiet street... walking distance to night market, top restaurants along river and that wonderful supermarket that so many have mentioned. Was a little concerned about the mosquitoes after reading other reviews... but not worth mentioning, think I saw 2 in the 4 days we were there!! Really appreciated the free unlimited use of internet too.

My go-to hotel in Chiang Mai”
This was my second stay at Rimping Village Hotel in Chiang Mai, and again, my experience was excellent. The hotel is a very tranquil respite from the crowds of the night market area, and the staff really makes it a wonderful place to stay. Also, while located within walking distance of the Loi Kroh Road nightlife area, I would not hesitate to recommend Rimping Village to couples, families and single female travelers as the hotel is really quite peaceful and the staff really goes out of their way to make your stay in both the hotel and the greater Chiang Mai area a great experience.

A wonderful stay at the Rimping Village Hotel”
I have traveled around the world and must say that the Rimping Village Hotel is one of the most enjoyable stays that I have experienced. The staff was warm, courteous and very helpful to me and my family. The rooms are well decorated and very, very comfortable. The hotel provides free internet service in the lobby which is not easily found at other hotels. The food and beverage service was excellent (the food was better than any of the restaurants we visited during our stay.) The weather was perfect with zero rain, nice cool evenings and mornings and southern California-type weather in the afternoons. I cannot recommend enough this hotel for any traveler who plans to visit Chiang Mai. We will definitely come back again. Thanks Agoda!

Quiet, superb comfort in Chiang Mai ”
This hotel is for people who are done with backpacking and want comfort on the road without going to a sterile chain hotel. Rimping Village is the ideal size, the right location, and a good price for a good amount of luxury. It hits the sweet spot. The clientele tend to be a little older, which makes it a quiet retreat from the hustle & bustle of Chiang Mai. Check in was smooth and timely, my room was lit and air conditioned when I arrived, and I got driven to the train station for free on check out. The staff are gracious and helpful, and they provide many small touches to make your stay as good as it can possibly be (light linen bathrobes, free fresh fruit in rooms every day, bug spray on tables at the restaurant to keep mozzies from spoiling cocktail hour, clean towels for every lounger by the pool). The pool is large and centrally located and very clean, and there were always lounge chairs available, even during busy times of day. There was free wifi in all the rooms, and two computers and a printer available in the lobby. The free orange bicycles were a terrific perk for me, as it let me cycle into town and avoid paying for a tuk tuk. The highest accolade I can pay this hotel is not that I would stay there again (although yes, I would), but that I would send my mother to stay there. It was THAT nice. :)

delightfully restful hotel”
wow, i can't stop saying how great rimping village is! the service was fantastic! all of the staff were pleasant, eager to serve, and competent in all that they did. it was amazing! the breakfast buffet was quite good. the pool (a salt water pool) got lots of sun-shine, had excellent lounge chairs, and was always clean. the rooms were very comfortable. we were in a deluxe room and really liked the extra amenities (nicer bathroom, bigger room). we also noticed that the hotel was in the process of upgrading all the tvs to flat panel wide-screen tvs. our room already had a new tv. the location is fantastic as well. it was just a ten-minute walk to the night market area. also, since it's not in the heart of the night-market, you're not constantly hearing tuk-tuks revving their engines on the streets below. it was nice and quiet instead. the hotel helped us hire a motorcycle for our time there (150 baht per day). we were very happy with the convenience of having the bike delivered to us and not having to arrange a way to get the bike back to the rental company (the rental company just picked up the bike at the hotel). we would highly recommend hiring a bike while you're in chiang mai (unless you have small children with you) as it is cheap and makes getting around town much easier (no haggling with song-tauw drivers every time you want to go somewhere!). also, "the duke's" (fantastic restaurant) is just a 2 minute walk from the hotel. it's fantastic!

Great place to stay in Chiang Mai”
I've stayed at Rimping Village on three separate visits to Chiang Mai over the past six years, and it's a wonderful hotel. The staff are consistently excellent and friendly. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the pool area is for cooling off and General lounging around. The location of Rimping Village for me is a highlight - the hotel is located east of the Ping River and is maybe a 15 minute walk to the eastern edge of the old city. Not being in the thick of the old city makes Rimping feel like a sanctuary from the noise of the main city area, yet it's still convenient enough to walk or catch a tuk-tuk into the city center.
