Great hotel, all you need with nice pool”
My wife and I stayed at the Sakorn Residence for 3 days and then a further week in feb 13. We have stayed in Chiang Mai many times and were looking for a hotel with friendly service and a good location. The Sakorn Residence is far enough away from the hustle and bustle to be very quiet but only 60 Baht or so on Tuk Tuk (or 15-20 min walk) from the night Bazaar. The rooms are all very spacious and the hotel has a great pool with breakfast terrace. The breakfast is a simple 5 option choice but always came with fruit, orange juice and cakes and was always a good size and very well made. The staff are very friendly and the Manager "Fon" very helpful with arranging any tours. We have stayed in Chiang Mai 13 times now and often at a more expensive hotels but this year we were on a bit of a budget so we tried the Sakorn Residence as it seemed incredibly well priced and as we had a personal recommendation from a Thai friend in Switzerland. It was a great choice and we were very pleased. There are also a series of the best Thai restaurants in town by the river (The Riverside and Galarie) just 3-5 mins walk from the hotel. We were very pleasantly impressed with the hotel and would highly recommend the Sakorn Residence....a great hotel.

Cool, calm and comfortable”
Sakorn Residence is located in a pleasant residential section of Chiang Mai on the east side of the Ping River. It is a 20-25 minute walk to the Old City or there is always a tuk-tuk available at the gate We stayed for three nights in a Superior Room.It was a very large room with a king sized bed king sized bed and spotless, well equipped bathroom. A small balcony overlooked the lawns, garden and small swimming pool. The WiFi connection was reliable, strong and included in the price. TV with lots of channels inc English. The air conditioning was efficient and quiet (heavenly quiet!) There was also a desk, storage space and coffee table and chairs. Breakfast was a choice of six or so set menus – simple, adequate and served with a smile and warmth in an open air pavilion overlooking the pool. The Night Market is about 10 mins walk away. There are various eating places near the hotel, some of them actually on the riverfront with outside dining areas. There is a small local cafe with tasty Thai food (all 35 baht per plate!) just across the road from the hotel for lunch or food during the day and another one just around the corner. We thought the Sakorn Residence was great value for money.

Beautiful hotel, good location and relaxing stay”
I booked a room at Sakorn Residence through Agoda and emailed Sakorn to confirm our booking & arrange for airport pickup. They immediately replied to all my emails and inquiries (which is very assuring and helpful). Sakorn was located in the quiet part of the city, which is a plus point for me and my husband. The hotel staffs are very helpful & friendly. We just showed our Agoda booking confirmation, and they led us to our room in a few short minutes. Our room is quite big, with a little veranda, overlooking the small pool, restaurant & coffee shop. It has a minibar, TV set, etc. The room looks new and clean, even the toilet is spacious. It also has a Free Internet access via Wifi. The free breakfast is ok, with a few selection to suit different tastes. We loved the fried rice and really appreciate the instant coffeee :) We also swam in their pool, although the water in the pool was a bit cold, still, my daughter enjoyed it immensely :) The night bazaar and Thaphae Gate (there's Mcdonalds here for my daughter & Starbucks for us, hehe) is just a few minutes via songthaew (small van ala Taxi). Also another plus point to Sakorn is when we needed to go to Mae Sariang for two days, they allowed us to leave our luggage in their storage room free of charge. When we came back, we again booked there for another 2 nights. All in all, we had a pleasant stay at Sakorn residence and would definitely book a room again there when we go back to Chian Mai. Thanks to all the friendly staff / receptionist of Sakorn Residence :)

Exceptional”
Duration of stay: 2 days, 3 nights What I loved about my stay in Sakorn Residence & Hotel: 1. Location It is off the main road but still walking distance to quaint cafes and boutiques. It is very near Sai Ping river and a good 15-minute walk to the old town. I love that when I wake up in the morning, I can hear birds chirping from my balcony. 2. Big Rooms At first, i thought the bigness of the room eliminates its coziness but it kind of grows on you. The big balcony is a plus. 3. Easy Check In 4. Breakfast is included The breakfast is simple but filling. 5. Prompt room service Areas which need improvement: 1. First Impression The lobby is not grand and you really do not have any lounge areas except for the pool area. Also, there was a faint unpleasant smell in the room when we first entered it. After opening the faucets, it disappeared immediately. 2. Toiletries Toothbrush not provided. Although most hotels in Chiang Mai do not really provide such. Will I stay when I go return to Chiang Mai? Definitely.

Lovely residence and peaceful place for relax ”
We ended up to book Sakorn Residence after reading many reviews from here and we didn't regret at all. We arrived at noon and had waited to get the room after 1 hour because the hotel was quite full at this peak season so we didn't mind much to hang around for lunch. Then we got our room with spacious space and comfortable bed, the shower was big enough and very strong shower which was really good for a bit massage yourself after long day walking or trekking. Breakfast was a set menu with limited choice but fair enough for a family management hotel which makes u feel like you are at home somehow :). The staff was really impressive to us as all information we needed were provided sastisfactorily. The location was just 5-10 mins by foot to night market and aroud 20 mins to the Old City or you can get the tuk tuk to the old city that might costs you 60 BTH (better ask the receptionist call a tuk tuk for u with good price). A bit out of the spotlight but for the way back you get the quietness and peace. I highly recommend this hotel to stay in Chiang Mai. Believe me you won't regret for your choice

Extended our stay...”
After only a few days at Sakorn we knew we wanted to extend our stay and take advantage of all that there is to do in Chiang Mai and area. Unfortunately, our timing in Chiang Mai was hindered by a government imposed curfew. The situation in Bangkok between the Thai military/police and the Red Shirt demonstrators had escalated and we were subjected to a nightly curfew. Not the hotel's fault but because it was low season their dining room never seemed to be open and with the curfew in effect, we were unable to get dinner there or elsewhere for several nights. The staff did their best to keep us informed of the political situation but it would have been nice to be forewarned about the curfew before it was in place, not after. The only other negative is the "keep quiet" policy at Sakorn. Signs were put up shortly after we extended our staying informing us that we had to be quiet at all times. We assume that this is because the Sakorn is also a residence, but it's hard to remain quiet at all times especially when enjoying yourself in the pool. Despite this, we would definitely stay at the Sakorn again.

Liked so much stayed longer than planned !”
I like the lovely Sakorn Resident where I am staying. It is quiet and just a 5 minute walk to the area of the Gallery, Riverside and Good View restaurants. I found this brand new daily or long stay building with internet, wireless and a pool, on Agoda. I am so glad I took a chance on it. The staff is happy to have guests and they are very helpful and friendly. My room is spacious with all amenities and has a good shower! The restaurant serves a good breakfast (included) and there is a coffee shop too. If you are a traveler who wants to be in the center of things with everything just steps out of the door, you may not like this location. I actually prefer this side of the river and the quiet soi. I like to walk and bicycle and the reception will call a songtheaw or tuk tuk too. There is a new computer for our complimentary use in the lobby and the wireless works in the rooms! The Sakorn Resident has only been open 2 months and it is the best value I have had in Chiang Mai for the excellent room and atmosphere.

Sakorn Residence”
I stayed at the Sakorn Residence for 3 nights. I chose it from Agoda as it was nearby to the UK Consulate and also close to the city. There is parking at the hotel and also security 24/7. I did not use the swimming pool though it is available. When I checked in the staff were expecting me and helped me with my baggage to the room on the second floor. While they were fairly young both people at the reception were quite good English speakers and have a good knowledge of the local and general area. It is within walking distance of the city and there are many restaurants nearby and a 7/11 within 5 minutes walk. There is a small restaurant next door (no connection) called the Hinlay which serves Indian food at a reasonable price. The lady also told me of a good massage place but suggested that I went there rather than asking them to come to the hotel which would save about 100 baht per hour. I took her advice and had an excellent Thai massage at 150 baht per hour. The only meals I ate at the hotel were breakfast which was good and nicely presented. The room was cleaned every day by a nice lady and I had left my computer open and nothing was disturbed at all. I would happily go back and stay there again and probably will the next time I am in Chiang Mai.

An Unforgettable Stay”
As this was our first time trip to Chiang Mai we expected the service to be comparable to Bangkok or Pattaya. We were pleasantly surprised when the staff exceeded our expectations by going the extra mile to help us when needed, even pointing out the best places to visit and the actual cost for transportation from the hotel to our destination. They even came to our aid when they felt that we were unknowingly being overcharged. Although the hotel was not a 5 star, the service provided went beyond any we would expect from one. We would definitely stay at Sakorn Residence & Hotel when we visit Chiang Mai again. Wonderful staff service made a 3 star hotel feel like a 5 star. WOW.

Great Stay”
This was my second stay at the Sakorn Residence, and I was so impressed with the three days I had stayed previously, that I booked it for my entire 13 day stay in Chiang Mai on this trip. Friendly, efficient staff, good complimentary breakfast, spacious, clean rooms, all with balconies, and a very affordable price, all add up to make the Sakorn a great place to stay. The loss of the footbridge over the Ping River made getting over to the other side of the river a bit more of a hassle, however. I understand that a new footbridge is planned to be built in the near future, however. I really hope this is the case. Otherwise, it is still a short 15 minute walk to the Night Market, or an even quicker tuk tuk or red cab ride.

Friendly, Quiet, Clean and Modern”
the sakorn residence was a joy to stay in. the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, the rooms were lovely if not lavish, and everything was very clean. the price was lower the most of the larger hotels located west of the ping river, yet i found i never felt isolated at all. some of the best restaurants in chiang mai (riverside, good view, dukes) are only a 5-10 minute walk away. during the day, you can walk through the nearby temple grounds, and onto the pedestrian footbridge to cross over the ping, and suddenly you are the middle of the bustling market area. no free shuttle service to the airport was the only real drawback.

Great riverside location and huge rooms!”
After staying in a tiny room on our last leg of our trip, the Sakorn residence was a welcome change with ample room for the three of us staying. There was a kitchen, large living room area with sofa, large double bedroom with plenty of wardrobe space and 2 bathrooms - one with shower, one with bath. Decor is fine, not glamorous but perfectly hospitable, our balcony looked out over the front entrance but was a great place to watch the sun going down over Chiang Mai. Really loved the location - just a few minutes walk to the river where several great bars and restaurants were - after walking around town we were really happy to be staying by the river, much nicer and it's easy to get into town on a tuk tuk anyway. Staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was basic but ample and the pool was nice and well maintained. And there's a gym too if you're so inclined. I'd definitely stay there again!

Lovely stay the second time around”
For our return trip to Chiang Mai after a brief stay at Mai Hong Son, we again stayed at Sakorn residence. It was a lovely surprise that the room they gave us had a bathtub (my daughter enjoyed bathing there immensely). Im not sure if we got a free upgrade, but hey, im not complaining , hehe. Like from our previous stay, the room was always clean, hotel staff are friendly. We totally enjoyed staying at Sakorn. Will definitely stay there again on our next visit.

Great hotel with pretty receptionist!”
Arrived during midnight, after upon arrival, the receptionist welcomed us with a nice attitude. Took less than 5 minutes to check in, was in the room in within 5 minutes. The room was nice and roomy, the place was very clean. One downside is that, do not leave the balcony door open, or you will get loads of mosquitoes waiting for your blood. If you do get mosquitoes in your room, just open up the A/C for 5 minutes, and it will go away eventually. Sakorn is 5 minute walk to loads of good pubs and can order motorcycles from 150 Baht to 250 Baht a day. You can pay in advance, or pay the receptionist after returning the bike. The receptionist also provide exceptional service for sightseeing around Chiang Mai, they will tell you exactly where to go, and places to visit. I strongly suggest to book from the hotel, no need to book from Agoda, after including the service charge, there is almost no discount from the original price. Unless your in a tight budget and can only order from credit card like me. It was a great trip with my girl, and we will visit Chiang Mai again sometimes in the future!

Quiet Soi, Lovely Helpful Staff, and Brand New!”
This new serviced apartment building is located on a quiet soi across the river near the bridge on Tha Phae Road. It is just a 3-4 minute walk to the Good View Restaurant and the 7-11. From there, songthaews are quick and easy to find, to transport you around Chiang Mai. The staff is lovely and helpful. I stayed in a king superior. The frig is large, the tv is new with cable. The shower was fine, I think the pool is mild salt water, not chlorine. Wireless internet worked and the desktop complimentary in lobby is great. I totally enjoyed Chiang Mai staying at the Sakorn Residence for 7 nights!

I liked it and extended my stay!”
I liked staying at the Sakorn Residence so very much that I extended my stay, not once, but twice. The Agoda price included a nice breakfast and I thought provided good value. This serviced apartment/hotel has only been a few months. The rooms are brand new. It was very comfortable for one person. The friendly and helpful staff made my stay in Chiang Mai a pleasure.

I enjoyed my stay once again!”
This is my third stay at the Sakorn Residence & Hotel. The rooms are large and have comfortable beds, a large fridge, a flat screen TV, chairs, a coffee table, and 2 side tables. Amenities include cotton buds, a shower cap, shampoo, shower gel, soap, & tissues. There is also a hair dryer, a water heater for beverages, and 2 cups and saucers. Coffee and tea are not supplied in the room so you may wish to bring a few along with you. There are 5 set choices for breakfast and all of them provide ample food; 3 western ones and 2 Asian ones. There is also a pool, and quite a well-stocked fitness room. The staff can provide maps of the city and also book vehicles/taxis and tours. However, they do not push tours on their customers, for which I was thankful. The hotel is an easy walk to restaurants and about a 15 minute walk to the Night Market. I will definitely stay here again!

A slice of Heaven in Chiang Mai”
We have just stayed for 3 fabulous nights here and have not got a bad word to say (I am typing this at 6.15 pm whilst my wife is having her final swim in the pool before we get the overnight coach back to Bangkok). We were delighted to get room 312 with a view of the pool and were really impressed with the cleanliness, facilities and furniture - and water boiler! All the staff were incredibly polite, smiley and with the Thai hospitality we are coming to love. Once we found our way from the Sakorn to the Riverside and Good View restaurants, we had no trouble with walking in and out of Chiang Mai. And the River Ping at night is so pretty - we recommend a stroll around 9 or 10 in the evening. About 100 yards left of the Sokurna is an amazing charity - The Healing Family Foundation where we had a really enjoyable and informative hour - and bought meaningful, unique, quality presents to take home. www.hffcm.org Thank you to everyone at the Sokorn - we have fallen for Chiang Mai! 😀❤️

Brilliant Location and comfortable room”
We stayed for 5 nights at the Sakorn Residence and was very impressed. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable and the location was brilliant. It is an ideal location to explore Chiang mai but away from the hustle and bustle. It has a lovely pool and a coffee shop.It was situated by the riverside, very quiet and close to some lovely restaurants. We found a lovely Italian restuarant, Arbusto italian house and the food was outstanding, better than any Italian restuarant I've been to in London. You literally come out of the Sakorn residence gate, turn right and it is on your left. Definitely worth a visit. Sakorn is close still enough to the old town to walk it in 10 minutes and the night market is very close too with lots of interesting stalls. Would definetly stay here again.

Lovely place to stay”
we had five nights in this little gem of a hotel. after a week in busy bangkok, the location of sakorn residence just outside the city centre was a glorious respite. the room was clean, comfortable and had a little balcony for catching the cool evening breeze and drying swimmers. a short walk to lots of lovely restaurants and cafes on the river, and a slightly longer walk to the night markets. the staff, especially fon, were incredibly warm and helpful. they had tons of local knowledge, organised day trips for us (don't miss flight of the gibbon and baanchang elephant park!), and held on to our luggage on checkout day. breakfast in the poolside pavilion was lovely and, if you need a really good coffee, there is a good coffee shop on the grounds. very reasonable prices. highly recommended.
