An excellent choice... if you rent a scooter”

Penny's Resort is a well managed, clean facility with spacious, air conditioned rooms. It is comfortable, has a well maintained swimming pool, and the restaurant serves good breakfasts (included). Any meal we ordered there was above average. The location is quiet. There are two inconveniences. The beach at the foot of the property is not a swimming beach and the location is about 3 km south of White Sands area. Both of these problems are taken care of if you rent a motor scooter (available from the front desk for 200-250 baht per 24 hours.) We came to Penny's for one night and stayed 7, exploring the island from there. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Several key staff members spoke English. With breakfast a part of the package and the overall cleanliness, this resort is a good deal.

Great hotel, good location.”

This was my first visit to Koh Chang and I did not know what to expect. I certainly was not disappointed. We were lucky enough to get a bungalow as near to the sea as was possible at Penny's but with no beach the swimming pool was only a few steps away. The beach was not a necessity but the very quiet location more than made up for the lack of sand. For the price Penny's is excellent value and we will stay there again.

Great place”

Very quiet, nice garden, good swimming pool, good breakfast, and dinner, looked all around this airea and this was deffenitly the best place to stay, walked up to White Sand Beach and was glad to take a taxi back to Penny's resort quickly, luxery room , with television with any channel you want, and it was all very clean.

Beautiful resort with pool and fantastic sunsets!”

We enjoyed staying at Penny's very much! Never sure when you book online. However when we arrived we knew it was the perfect place for us. The staff always had us a taxi within 10 minutes of asking. Taxi is only 50 Baht each to take you anywhere on the island you want to go. We also rented a motorbike the last few days to explore like the Thai:) The towel art every day on our bed was beautiful. The couple that cleans the rooms were very sweet and her towel art amazed us every day. The perfect resort on Koh Chang Island is Penny's!

Penny's (A small piece of Paradise)”

The establishment is seated on the rocky beach of Koh Chang, away from the hustle and bustle of White Sand Beach and similiar areas. They have a friendly and attentive staff that will help on all matters from sight seeing to arranging for departure transportation. Another great asset is the on-site restaurant where they serve food for the worlds pallet, everything from the "American" breafast to Pappay Salad. I will stay here again if given the chance.

What a great place this is. The attention to detail & efforts to make sure guests are happy is far more than you would expect from a Budget Resort. Even the Buffet Breakfast was very clean, fresh & a far cry from the bread, rolls & jam at many Breakfast Included places. Would highly recommend Penny's for your stay on Koh Chang.

Quiet Resort with Private beach ”

If you fancy a lazy afternoon at your hotel, you will definitely enjoy your stay at the Penny's. The sunset was fantastic when we visited, the private beach is an instagram-worth spot. Good food, and friendly staff. A bit away from the White Sand Beach, but the staff can call you a taxi (50 baht/person).

Lovely quiet hotel”

Very clean, very comfortable, good-sized rooms. The 'resort' (more of a hotel) isn't too large and seems to be family-run. Only a few staff spoke English but all were very friendly and it wasn't a problem. It's a 5 minute, 50 baht trip to town via the sangthews (sp?) that pass by every few minutes but that suited me fine as I didn't want to be right in White Sands. Breakfast was included and was generous with plenty of variety in both Asian and western styles. Dinner at the restaurant was also reasonably priced and there was a good variety of food. The pool is nice and decent depth. The ocean is a bit rocky but perfectly good for swimming. The other guests were mostly Thai or European with a couple of Australians, and a lot of families. I'll happily stay there again.

Oceanfront rooms a step up from bungalows..”

i traveled during the rainy season which is not the best time to visit koh chang. but with that aside, the hotel is nice and convenient. it is located one beach south of the infamous white sand beach, but it does not actually sit on a sandy beach or any famous beach at all for that matter. it sits on a rocky point, but the view is still nice and the pool is great (not that i used it because it rained the whole time). the staff is semi friendly and barely speaks any english. getting to the hotel is not included in the price but you can take a taxi ride about 20 minutes from the pier to the road above the hotel for 60 baht. the hotel does not have anything within walking distance besides other resorts and one restaurant. during the rainy season, do not expect any other travelers to be here. i was the only person here for 3 days...could be a nice romantic getaway for a couple but for the standard backpacker, i would stay at white sand beach with the rest of the backpackers

A great place to stay”

At first glance Penny's looks like a small family run establishment and that's what it is. You wont get the extra ameneties here that you would at a bigger name resort but you are not paying the extra costs either. I was plenty comfortable with what was provided. The bed was big and the room was made up every day. The staff is phenomenal with their personal care and attention to detail. The food is excellent, both breakfast and ordered meals. Dont forget you are on an island and it's warm with alot of nature here but for the price you pay you cannot beat the service. I would stay here again.

best hotel have stayed!”

We really had a good time in Pennys hotel. The plce are perfect for us because we really need a quiet and harmonic Place to stay after travelling around South East Asia. The Place have a Beautiful grden nice view of the Mountains and the sea, The swimming pool is great. The beach have a lot of stones but it did not prevet us to swim. very nice we Think. The personal are very nice and helpful to make it short, very good service.To rent a motorbike is the best to do for us. Where ever you stay in Koh Chang motorbike is good to see around the Island, but it is also easy to take a taxi which the personal arrange for the guests. We have visited many places in the Island like waterfalls, different resort, elefant park etc.

Penny's Resort - Koh Chang”

My wife and I stayed at Penny's for a few nights in March 2010. If you are looking for somewhere away from the activity of White Sand Beach, this might be for you. There is no beach here, but the resort has its own very clean pool and there is nothinbg between you and the sea. The sunsets are a free bonus too! The staff are great and the rooms are large and comfortable.

Good place to stay”

First time I stayed at this Hotel. The staff is very friendly, and helpful. Bungalows are nicely decorated and in good condition. Everything is clean and maintained well. Only downside is the location, as the beach is has mostly rocks. However a great location to watch the sunset. You need a motorbike to get around on the island. Also White Sands Beach area is a few minutes drive. Breakfast buffet is good, but not a huge variety to chose from.

This was my 5th time to stay at Penny's. Have experienced only pleasantness. The room is clean, bed comfortable, air con works well as does the TV (actually has CNN and Aljezreea and 2 English movie channels). Room also comes with refigerator. The pool is always clean and the temp of water refreshing. Penny's does not have a beach. This works out well as you will venture out to the easily accessible beaches and see more of the island. Breakfast was included and was satisfactory.

quiet & clean hotel, smiling staff, delicious food, beautiful sunset view, spacious room, lovely cats. very pleasant stay... the hotel is located quite far away from the white sand beach. nice staff but don't speak well English, so not so helpful while we asked for more details about the ferry, transportation etc. although they really wanted to help.

Cute, quiet, just outside the city center”

Penny's is about a half mile south of the main section of White Sand Beach. It's tucked away off the main road, right on the ocean, and most of the rooms look out on a pool in the center of the grounds. They have a restaurant, strong wifi signal, and rent motorbikes for 150 baht a day. It was nice to be out of the busy part of town (if any town on Ko Chang could be called busy). And the price was very affordable as well.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel as it was perfectly located just outside white sands quiet although just a short distance for a more vibrant nightlife. The rooms where beautiful ,staff extremely friendly ,and almost on the beach with a beautiful view day and night. Price extremely reasonable for good quality accomodation

Cozy, clean and comfortable”

We are a family of four (two boys, ages 11 and 16) and appreciated the service, great food, and the pool. Penny's is off the beaten track but scooters available on site for 200 baht/day solved the transportation problem. No beach, but great for seashells! If you want night life, dancing, and big white sand beaches this is not the place for you. We will definitely come here again.

penny's resort is a lovely and quiet place for couples and families. the value is very interesting. you need to rent a motorbike to go to the beautiful white sand beach near of the hotel and circulate around.

Wish I had stayed here longer”

Penny's is lovely! The staff are extremely kind and the location beautiful! I rented a motorbike one of the days I was here from reception which was a blast and enjoyed the sunset from the pool overlooking the ocean. Would highly recommend. It is not a "5 star" resort, but great value for money located a short motorbike ride to a beautiful waterfall. The garden is beautiful and well maintained.
