Magical paradise on the rocks”

if you are going to stay in koh phangan, this is the place to stay, hands down it's the winner, stop looking and just book, but come back and read the rest of this review! i had a hectic trip from hell from patong to koh phangan. including the realisation that i had booked my stay at the well reviewed lighthouse bungalows completely wrong. i had made a mistake when i selected the date. i wondered why this great place wasn't fully booked as i was coming there for the full moon party! with help from karla, one of the owners of lighthouse, and just a bit of luck, i was able to change the dates. everyone says it's such a hike from the main action, but it's really not, i was in love from the moment i set foot through the small party city located right on the haad rin beach. a short walk through the city and it will put you out onto leela beach. from leela beach there is a wonderfully constructed walkway that wraps around the cliff face that lighthouse bungalows is built on. magical, it's just magical. check in was a breeze, grabbing a few bottles of water from the fridge (they keep a tab for you for both food and drink, how refreshing!) i was shown to my villa. it's small simple and contains everything you need for the perfect getaway! 1) view - unmatched by anywhere i've ever been, regardless of the price 2) hammock - to enjoy the view and unwind in that's all you need. that being said i stayed in one of the larger villas they have, upgrading myself for one night, and what an upgrade!! if you have the extra money and want to live a bit more luxuriously, do it. the food they serve in their extremely chilled out restaurant/lounge is devine. honestly, i didn't eat anywhere else, and i had just finished coming from bali where i was eating at a different restaurant everyday! and it all goes on your tab so you just eat without having to have the worry of paying up at the end. if it sounds like i'm gloating a bit too much, i'm not, this pl

Heavenly Hideaway”

A friend and I stayed at these bungalows for two nights while making our way to Haad Yuan. Though we were initially hoping to catch one of the Lighthouse parties, we greatly enjoyed the peaceful two days of lounging in hammocks on the balcony overlooking the ocean. I've stayed at many of the bungalows around Koh Phangan and haven't found any that compare in this price range -- the view you get of the ocean from your balcony at Lighthouse is unbeatable (many times unobstructed and incredibly secluded). The staff is amazing, I felt welcome into their family as soon as we arrived. Though their kitchen wasn't serving food, a short walk down the nearby beach provides you with some really great options (continental, Thai). I highly recommend making the journey and staying at these incredible bungalows.

Hidden treasure”

lighthouse bungalows for me was a little hidden treasure. although not well signposted when 1st arriving once you get your bearings sorted out you realise that you are perfectly located a short distance from the full moon party yet you nestled away in the most tranquil setting. our bungalow over looked the sea and although very simple it is tasteful done and has a very clean feel to it. we got to relax whilst listening to the lapping of the waves right below us as the sunset illuminated koh samui in the distance. we will no doubt recommend the lighthouse bungalows to anyone fortunate to explore koh phangan.

Beautiful located hostel”

We stayed for four nights in Lighthouse Bungalows and the place is beautiful. The location is nice, it's build on rocks. And the nearby beach as well. It's only hard to swim because of all the (stingy) plants in the water. The food is fine as well as the staff. Only thing what's too bad is that they don't have a booking agency, so we had to go to town to book a taxi and boat too Donsak. Only problem is that the taxi didn't arrive, so we almost missed the boat and had to pay more. Don't trust booking agencies in Koh Phagnan. Would be great if Lighthouse Bungalows had an agency. If you want to book a taxi, go to the nearby resort: Coco Bungalows. They are very reliable and make sure the taxi will come. And they have an 24 hour service if anything goes wrong. Because of the additional taxi service of Coco Bungalows (during night) we were able to get our ferry.

Quite, Screne, Pituresqe and Great Service”

My Wife and I had three nights a the Light House Bunglalows and we would of stayed more. It's a little bit off the beaten path but that depends on who you're taking to. It literally takes about 15 minutes to get from your bunglaow to the town of Had Rin, walking. The owner has owned it since his father handed it down to him and all the staff are great and very welcoming real people! It's got a fantistic setting among trees and shrubbery the view of the ocean is superb. It overlooks south west towards Koh Samui (you can see fireworks at night) and backs on to the forest of Koh Phangan. We had a monkey in the tree next to our bungalow! The rooms could use a little updating and work but all in all, we we satisfied. Clean sheets, mosquito nets, (cold water shower only - not complaining). It's literally the last resort/bungalows along Leela Beach(nice quiet beach). You have to go through Coco Resort, Leela Beach resort and all the way down the walkway along the ocean before you're there. It's close enough to the Full moon party (just a stagger away really) but far enough away to get a great night sleep.

Staff were so lovely!”

We stayed in a daisy bungalow..it was really basic and we had a few lizards in our room but that didn't ruin our stay! It was right on the beach with great views and just 10mins walk from all the parties! The staff picked us up from the haad rin beach when we arrived with no charge and helped us with our bags. The staff are amazing and they also own the cactus bar on the party beach so we could get 20% off our drinks :) The beach is not the nicest..it is a little dirty but it is nice and quiet to get over a hangover after the partying lol. The food they did was so good and nice and cheap! We stayed there for 4nights and ate there the whole time cos it was so yummy! definitely recommend the banana shakes and the green thai curry! We would 100% stay there again.

Budget option but far from Haad Rin”

Lighthouse Bungalows is the most southerly accommodation (I think) in Koh Phangan. It's listed as been in Haad Rin but it's a good 15min away from the central area. So if you are looking for a place to stay that's close to the Full Moon Party action (or simply close to town) then look elsewhere. I stayed in the basic rooms which were a several steps up and even the staff admitted it was very basic accommodation. I think the pricier rooms might be of a higher standard inside. On the plus side, the ocean view was great, staff are friendly and attentive, and Leela Beach nearby is a better beach than both Haad Rin Nai and Haad Rin Nok. Due to the remote location, Lighthouse is also quiet at night. Overall, I think you'd only go to Lighthouse if you wanted the peace and quiet or needed a last minute room. The 15 min walks to and from town really do get tiring and weren't my cup of tea to be honest. Definitely ask for pickup from Cocohut if you are staying here.

Charming and quiet bungalows overlooking the sea”

We had a great stay. They gave us shelter the night of the full moon party, when any other hotel was booked out, or ridiculously expensive... The place is very nice and relaxing, It's got great views to the sea, so is the restaurant, with comfortable cushions, and tasty Thai food. Located next to the best beach in Hat ring. It is a bit far from central Had Rin, but within walking distance. The helpful manager gave us a ride to the pier, the day we checked out. We stayed 2 night in a Daisy type bungalow; basic, and 2 nights in a Sunflower type Bungalow; mid range. Both are great value for money. This place is definitely my choice in Had Rin.

Perfect hidden spot”

this place was certainly one the highlight of my trip. after traveling for almost a month, i ended up at the lighthouse without knowing if i would stay in koh phangan or not. i ended up to stay for 4 days. the place is so warm and welcoming! isolated, but at the same time, easy walk to reach haad rin part of town.

Breath taking views”

Lighthouse bungalow are great romantic escape for a couple. Initially we were booked to small bungalow but it was to stuffy forus, so we've upgraded to large fan bungalow. The view was amazing, room large and airy, overall wevwould highly recommend this place for a romantic getaway . Staff very friendly and helpful. Very cool bar with great food and atmosphere. Maybe

Fabulous view great host”

stayed in a mid price bungalow for 5 nights the views are spectacular & the rooms are clean,private & comfortable. karla & lem the owners couldn't do enough for us including fixing us up with a mosquito net & an extra fan as it was particularly hot while we were there. karla even got my husband some squid to use as fishing bait which she didn't charge us for and he did catch a few fish from the rocks. it is a little remote a 10-15 min walk down the beach & a track to get into town so make sure you call them to fetch you from hadrin when you arrive as it's a bit of a slog with bags. we hired a moped but ended up walking it part of the way back as the track is pretty rough & not for inexperienced riders although the staff had no problems even when the moped was loaded with bags. the beach is 5 mins down a wooden walkway & is clean and quiet so easy to find your own piece of holiday heaven. great place to stay if your looking for a little peace & relaxation away from the madding crowd with good reasonable priced food.

Location unbeatable - stunning views”

On arrival at night-time we were alarmed by the condition of the 'Sunflower' bungalow - mostly the fact that the doors to the balcony were in such a bad state of repair, there was little security in the room and there were HUGE gaps between the doors and the wall meaning that mosquitos could come in by the dozen. The bungalow hadn't been maintained at all which is such a shame as it would have originally been stunning. Having said that, with the gaps plugged by several sarongs and items of clothing, our mosquito killing device plugged into the wall, a coil burning by the door and with aircon on and blankets pulled up to our ears, we managed to rid the room of mozzies and weren't bitten at all. The next morning we were greeted by such stunning views of the sea and rocky coastline, we had to admit we'd picked a very special place. The wood and tiled balcony built complete with hammock was heaven. The bungalows, accessed by a wooden boardwalk around the coast, is just 15-20 minutes pleasant walk to Haad rin. So, all in all, I'm very pleased we picked this place, but if only the owners would fix the door (and less importantly put in better lighting and freshen up the décor)- it would be an unbeatable place to stay! In the meantime, I'd recommend this place whole-heartedly to travellers with mosquito-fighting kit.

Quiet Location with an amazing deck”

We really enjoyed our stay here. Our first room was a fan room with a beautiful deck and stained glass windows. There were so many windows that you had a perfect view of the ocean and a nice cool breeze. After a few nights, they let us switch to an air-con room for free which was nice as well. Relaxing on the hammock listening to the ocean while reading books was great after a long day in Koh Phangan. Another bonus was the cute, fluffy white dogs that live here. The downsides to this place are that it is a bit of a hilly trek from the full moon party, they didn't have hot water in our rooms, and that it is quite a bit pricier for food and laundry.

Beautiful view”

It it a long walk from Haad rin, but if you dont mind walking or have a bike or you are staying in during your stay it is a wonderful place to be at. The bungalows are big and clean with an amazing view over koh samui. Wifi in the restaurant which also has really nice food!

Right place to relax”

At check in I had to wait for about 10 minutes as the manager was away from the hotel. The manager is a true farang English speaker. Other staffs are not good at English, however almost everything is handled by her, the manager. So if you want to communicate in English, this is a good place. It is located a bit far from Had rin town. Still you can walk to the famous full moon party beach (she says the room rate is up at that time). And the resort faces ocean. It means you are away from noise of bars. From a cheapest room, I could see ocean and feel wind. As there was a lot of nice wind, A/C was not needed. If there is little wind, A/C may be necessary. The room was clean enough.

Perfect”

I was looking for a quite time but close to people. This one was perfect. The bungalows are directly at the ocean. I spend a lot of time sleeping in a hammock directly over the sea on my balcony. The area is marvelously beautiful. Bungalows are basic but pleasant. Staff is helpful and attentive. Only thing: It's not that easy to find. They recommend to organize a pick-up before hand with the hotel. Didn't do that hence it was tricky to find but wonderful when I got there. Perfect stay!

Quiet beach bungalows with great view!”

location is 10 minutes from haad rin so you are close enough without having to put up with the noise constantly! quite difficult to access but worth it for the views. friendly staff with free wifi in the restaurant. service is a little slow but foôd is great and worth the wait! great value for money!

Peacefull ”

My stay at lighthouse was perfect. Peaceful away from the main beach, friendly and helpful staff, relaxing sound of the waves, unbelievable view from bungalow. A+ would recommend to friends and family. If your looking for a cheap get away with basic's this is the place to go.:)

Beautiful location but quite secluded”

Booked this resort prior to arriving on the island for the Half Moon party. Description online said the resort was a 10-15 minute walk to the main Haad Rin beach so thought this would be a great location to be able to enjoy the nightlife but manage to sleep aswell! Unfortunately it wasn't made clear that the only way of accessing the beach was by foot along a beach and through another resort which was a nightmare with suitcases. The location was absolutely stunning and the rooms looked great but we decided not to stay and moved to another resort in town. Would be great for couples but if you are looking for somewhere to stay to party this place is too far away and not easily accessed.

Not worth the money”

I would say if all you care about is a nice view, then stay here. Otherwise, I don't think it's really worth the money. Even for the cheapest bungalows, it's still relatively expensive. The walk to Haad Rin isn't too far but it's a bit of a nuisance to go back and forth all the time. The internet rarely worked and it's only in the downstairs restaurant. The food was also quite expensive but you're forced to spend the money on it, as town's pretty far away. The room was very small and not all that clean. We also had problems with cockroaches, which we really didn't like. The staff said they would clean our room and put new towels and they didn't. It was definitely quiet, which was nice, and the view is very beautiful, but otherwise, I think it's better to stay elsewhere. The staff was decently friendly - one good thing was that they provided transportation to the pier, which we appreciated. Overall, I think you can find better value elsewhere.
