Sugar marina ”

Sugar marina is a rad little boutique hotel near kata beach, one of the quieter beaches in Phuket. The rooms are small but cool, the staff are friendly and the service top notch. It's a bit far from the hustle and bustle of patong (about a 20 min tuk tuk drive) but for us that was a plus. It's a busy town in it's own right and there's plenty to keep you busy without having to worry about the constant noise. The beach too is no more than a 3 minute walk from the hotel. If I had to lodge a complaint it would be that the beds are way too hard, but apart from that we had a great time. Despite not being in the 5-star range it's still highly recommend Sugar Marina Fashion for anyone looking for a higher standard of hotel.

Great Location and Hospitable Staff”

It is our second stay at Sugar Marina Fashion and our fourth stay for the Sugar Marina Resort Chain; namely Fashion, Nautical and Art. All of them are great value for money, have a theme concept unique to each but we like it best at Sugar Marina Fashion as the staff are really friendly and helpful (the restaurant staff presented our daughter with a cake when they found out that it was her birthday that morning), the location is convenient to the beach (just across the road and a short walk of about 2 to 3 minutes) and shop plus eateries (literally at the entrance of the hotel, and the room was value for money (clean, safe and for us, baby friendly). We look forward again to our next stay and perhaps we will try Sugar Marina Surf :-) but we'll certainly miss the staff at Fashion (likely to pop by and say hi with our baby should we stay at Surf).

Stayed in May 2014. I initially booked Sugar Marina Resort - Fashion for our stay. However, when i reached i was informed that our room isn't available and they had to transfer us to their sister property. Definitely felt upset at first but the staff did all they could to make up for it. They transferred us to Sugar Marina Resort - Nautical and offered free daily breakfast and even went to walk through the room and amenities with us. This was very good service recovery by the hotel. Also, our entire stay there was very pleasant as the staff were always gracious and cheerful. I rented a car from an external agency and discovered that the headlight was smashed. Thinking that it was my fault, i sought help from the hotel staff to find a mechanic to repair it as i did not trust the car agency repair rates. The hotel staff was quick to help and managed to find someone to look at it. The matter was eventually resolved as the smashed headlight was there to begin with. Overall, a pleasant stay and i will definitely come back again!

Quiet surroundings...”

If you are looking for a night crawler looking for adventure in Phuket, you need to look elsewhere. Tucked into a quiet corner on Kata Beach, the Sugar Palm Resort, Phuket is ideal for families looking for a peaceful retreat. Hotel is under two years old, or so I was told, and all fittings and fixtures seems new. The room interior is modern but is warm and has a distinctly Thai accent. I booked a room with pool access which is great for quick dips but it can get rather noisy at times. Sound insulation between rooms is almost nonexistent and you could make out the conversation in the adjacent rooms if they are occupied by loud talking honeymooners. If you rent a car, there are limited parking lots available for guests. Scooters can be rented at the hotel reception counter. Elephant camps, lookout point and cross country ATV rides are just a short drive up the mountain road behind the hotel. My travelling companion got really intimate with the mountain track whilst charging uphill on a quad bike. His consolation was that the hotel staff are ever ready with first aid and a gentle smile. Parasailing, surfing lessons and jet skiing are available at the beach in front of the hotel. After dark, the surrounding area is really sleepy which explains the hotel‘s library of DVDs and books available for loan to guests at no charge. You can also while away the hours with the complimentary in-room wifi and internet terminals at the lounge area. As a last resort, you can always make an activity of swatting the odd mosquitoes which infiltrate the room. If you leave your big-city mentality behind and treat the Sugar Palm Resort as an affordable little niche hotel on a resort island, you will be hard pressed to do better.

Very pleasant stay”

Sugar Marina Fashion hotel is literally 3 minute walk to the beach. As I extended my stay at the hotel 3 times, I am offered to do 3 reviews. The only down side I can see is that parts of the hotel wall are run down. And the gym has just 4 - 5 equipment and very small, not suitable for more than 3 people. The wifi there is almost non-existent - so if you really need to do something with the internet, you better pack some internet device stick with you or something. Other than that, Sugar Marina Fashion hotel is an amazing hotel to stay. And I will stay at their hotel again if my wife and I will go to Phuket.

Two thumbs up for Sugar Palm. I am glad that I took into consideration all the reviews I read about this hotel not only from agoda but from other websites as well. We were originally booked there for one night during our stay in Phuket. We checked out early from our previous hotel we did not like its location and we took our chance if Sugar Palm will allow us to check in early. We were really really happy that they asked no questions and gave our room to us as early as 10am. We booked a pool view room and once we saw the room and the pool, we went downstairs to the lobby right away and booked our second night. There was free wi-fi, lots of restaurants nearby and it is just a five-minute walk to Kata Beach. At the lobby of the hotel there are also tour packages offered and we got a great deal for it. Breakfast had lots of choices. We will definitely book this hotel again if we come back to Phuket and will recommend this to everyone.

Relaxing long weekend”

I really enjoyed my stay at the Sugar Marina Resort-Fashion- Kata Beach. It was a 5 minute walk to the beach. There were good restaurants around the hotel. I had an issue with brown water coming out of the tap when I ran a bath. The staff were able to fix it quickly. The food for breakfast was kept hot and they had eggs to order. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. I would recommend this hotel.

Me,my girlfriend and her two older kids had a great time at the Sugar Marina Resort-Fashion. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. The pool was great for us and the kids. The resort was close to the local restaurants and shops. Walk out of hotel and there is bus service to phuket town or patong. We would have no problems recommending this hotel friends if they wanted to stay in phuket.

We were stay at Sugar Marina resort around September 2014. This hotel really nice, and good location, just 3mins walking to kata beach. The room was perfect as our room was pool access. We will be back again when we travel to phuket.

Guys, The best beach in Phuket is Kata. and the nearest resort to Kata beach is Sugar palm. Very pleasant brezze kisses you every morning when you open the door or window. U cant escape from the morning sunshine which just falls on Big buddha s head and which is just in front of ur eyes from this resort.... Must stay to enjoy the beauty of this place. I would surely stay in the same hotel the next time i make it to Phuket

Spend 5 night in this hotel and i was very happy with everything.staff is very friendly and smilling all the the time.dont speek english verry well, but still was ok.very good location, just 3 min to beach and restaurant's.nice braekfast,room is nice, clean all the time, air condition working well, shower preasure ok sometimes problems between hot and cold water but still ok and the beds was EXCELENT COMFORTABLE.Free minibar on room fill up every day.Didn't tried pool, looks small but water was clean and jakuzzi working well. great facilities, very comfortable room”

Great hotel but it was much smaller than the photos show. Being built around the pool made it quite enclosed but the location close to all restaurants etc made things easy. We had a pool access room which was well appointed, quite large and very clean and comfortable. Being able to access the internet through the room flat screen TV was fantastic. Breakfast was bountiful and delicious. The only negative is not about the hotel, but about Kata Beach in general, the Club Med Resort takes up most of the access to the beach and there are only 2 points for general access at each end of that resort. Luckily Sugar Palm Resort is at one end of Club Med so access to the beach was not a problem from this hotel.

Great Location - Nice Hotel”

It’s a little challenging picking a hotel on-line without every having been there before. I reviewed many hotel descriptions from around the area and picked the Sugar Palm. When I arrived, I was very happy with my choice. For the price of the hotel...it had everything I needed. Although getting to the room was a little odd...up the stairs, down the hallway and up another set of stairs...everything was great. The room itself was pretty much basic...but had wireless internet (FREE), mini-bar and a couple English TV channels. The location was also prefect for me...beach across the street, plenty of shopping and restaurants right outside the hotel. I didn’t eat breakfast at the hotel (I’m not a breakfast person) but I walked passed it daily and everything looked good. The staff was helpful and always friendly and if I get a chance to go back to Phuket...I’m staying at the Sugar Palm.

clean modern hotel conveniently located ”

We loved the beach and the proximity to Sugar Pal Resort. It is a family hotel with clean spacious rooms, modern furniture and vibrant colours. The swimming pool is a cool hub where our children would hang out and meet other children their age after a day at the beach. We noticed that there were lots of Aussies and russians - at least in July when we were there. The staff is young and competent although they didn't seem to care much. I found the reputation of Thai people being friendly much more true in Bangkok and in the North than in tourist-crowded Phuket. Kata beach is a great beach for families and those who like quiet romantic nightlife. The weather was great - 9 days of sunshine out of 10 - even in July.

We had a very nice stay at the Sugar Palms on Kata Beach. The price was very reasonable and competitive. The Hotel was new this year and they didn't have any problems associated with a new hotel. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the hotel provided free internet service and DVD rentals for those rainy days. Breakfast was included every morning and was decent. The pool was inviting, clean and refreshing. The hotel is only a short walk to the beach and ample shopping. The only negative was the noise levels, although this is not the hotel's fault that they had noisy guests, but the design and materials used to build the hotel didn't help to muffle the noise. That being said we still had an enjoyable time and would recommend this hotel to anyone. As a side note, do book your room online, the prices at the desk are higher.

Utterly amazing”

I requested a specially decorated room and they did just that. Also, the first day as I checked in, I lost my cell phone in the taxi cab and the receptionists were helping me out to get the cell phone back 2 days later. Whenever my wife and I walked past the front desk, they made us feel like the only guests in the hotel and they were more like friends than just receptionists. I decided to extend my stay at Sugar Marina Fashion for another 8 days because my wife and I felt amazing at the hotel. They were part of the best experience we had in Phuket.

SUGAR PALM RESORT-PHUKET”

This is probably the best hotel I have stayed in in Thailand in the last 15 years. I live for 6 months of the year in the Phuket region and go to Phuket/Kata beach 3-4 times each year. The photos and details given on Agoda reflect the actual condition of the hotel. Most unusual in Asia as far to often the photos were taken 15 years ago and as maintenance of hotels rarely happens the hotel details are many years out of date. The staff here could not do enough to make our stay a great one even when we arrived at 2.30am from an international flight. I recommend this hotel and Kata beach as one of the best in Phuket.

Great value”

Sugar Palm Resort is great value compare to those same standard hotel in Patong or other country. But night activities are limited and boring, I will suggest not to stay too many days in Kata, but if you like beach and would like to spend more time with your lover, this is the good choise. Bell boy helped us to bring our luggage from taxi to room, they also brief us the how to use the in-room safe. My deluxe room is lovely, especially the design of bathroom, I can bath and watch TV at the same time. The pool view is also great and romantic. I like the discovery channel. Massage shop is everywhere, you could find the price from 200B/hr body/foot massage. Not much choice for DVD rental. Wifi connection is low from top floor, I had to surf net at balcony and it disconnected time to time. I had never tried the food, but seems like they have many choice for breakfast buffet compare to the hotel I stayed at Patong. Thanks Agoda

Pleasant Stay.”

Had a pleasant stay at Sugar Marina. I spent a week surfing in Kata Beach and I picked this hotel as it is a minute walk from the beach. I find many other surfers staying there as well. Decent breakfast. Very close to restaurants, convenience stores and proper massage places. Like the balcony. The only thing is that there is no view. I probably wouldn't recommend this place for your honeymoon but it is ideal for any tourist.

Sugar Palm Resort”

We really enjoyed our stay at the Sugar Palm hotel. Make sure your taxi driver takes you to the right Sugar Palm though. Our left us at the wrong one at first (Sugar Palm in Karon beach)and we ended up taking a Tuk-tuk to Kata Beach. There are alot of great restaurants just outside the hotel, like Natalies and Mali. The room was nice and the bed and pillows were very confortable. The hotel is just a short walk to the beach if you don't wanna stay by the pool. The only thing we didn't like was that we had only about two watchable channels. We will probably stay here again.
