"There is so much to like about An Yen, but best to come with the right expectations. If you crave remote & quiet and you’re ok with a bumpy dusty road to and from the site, then this may be the perfect spot. I loved it. A few good books, several tasty meals and a very welcoming family made An Yen a great get-a-way, just what I was looking for. An Yen is not a ‘resort’ in a typical sense of the word. The property is remote and in many ways a work-in-progress. My bungalow was near the water with a comfy bed (Vietnamese style) and a modern shower. Two deck chairs were perfect for reading. There is wifi on property but its reach is limited to the dining area adjacent to the main building. The meals were tasty and cooked to order from a smart but limited menu. The family goes out of there way to connect you with nearby things to do. An Yen is adjacent to Sao beach which is popular with day visitors. Motorbikes are available to rent but you should be comfortable riding on bumpy roads. Friends had warned that Phu Quoc was now given to crowds, loud bars, clubs and big splashy resorts. An Yen was the opposite. It offers offers peace & quiet and the feeling you are part of the family’s dream of building their eco-resort vision, one guest at time. "

"I cannot say enough good things about the Kinh Bac Hotel and its amazing host Pat and his family. From the welcome email, to the in-person welcome upon arrival, to the many ways Pat made sure I was taken care of, I felt like I was an honored member of his family. This is not hyperbole. And, as if the great personal service wasn't enough, the rooms in this new hotel are spotless, with much detail given to ensuring comfort. I got a room with balcony (room 103), which was roomy and had a pleasant view if the surrounding area, and included A/C, mini fridge stocked with reasonably priced beverages, TV with several channels including English, and good sized private bathroom. Our host Pat arranged rental scooters for my friend and me, as well as gave us several suggestions for places to see. Although the hotel is not directly on the beach (and thus much less expensive), beautiful Bai Sao beach is just 2km away, as are several others if you're willing to get out and explore (Gành Đầu Beach on the northwest coast was one of my favorites). Although the hotel is not in the city, there is a small market next door and restaurants in the hotel itself and across the street, as well as a karaoke bar a few meters down the road. About the only negative I can think of was that the electricity to the in-room fridge turns off when you take your key to leave the room, but this was very minor in my opinion. All of the amenities and great service came at a ridiculously low price. I can't wait to return to Phú Quốc, and when I do I'm definitely staying at the Kinh Bắc Hotel again. "

"We had huge room in the building behind the pool, room was comfy and clean. The best part of this hotel was huge pool, which was almost empty all the time because other guests were lazy to swim so we had it only for our selves. Coconut prison and Sao beach are not far from this hotel, only the miserable part of the stay was food in the hotel restaurant - we tried really tasteless spaghetti once only and we were rather going to the restaurant of huge resort on the opposite side of the highway where was meals much better."

"This place is gorgeously landscaped with tall, beautiful tropical trees. The resort is plantation style. Tall windows that open wide, high ceilings, good A/C, beds a bit firm, but comfortable. Spacious room, bathroom is natural and beautifully designed but open at the top to the outside, so geckos and mosquitoes might get you. I kept the bathroom door closed and it was fine. Resort was empty due to Coronavirus restrictions, but it was still lovely. The staff was extremely accommodating. They even took me to the outdoor market whenever I wanted to buy fruit or just to see the activity. Beautiful Sao beach was a short taxi or motorbike away ($1-2). Good breakfasts were served. The quaint resort is on the east side of the island. Unfortunately the beaches nearby were filled with trash, so you needed to go to Sao beach to enjoy the beauty of Vietnam's beaches. I really enjoyed my stay. "
