Batad hotels & places to stay

Hillside Inn has the best view of Batad Rice terraces from our room.(make sure you request a room with the view). There were 5 of us. We're just excited to see a place we've only seen in pictures and movies since childhood. Et voila after 10 hours of bus ride (Ohayami bus services) from Sampaloc Manila to Banaue. Make sure you arrange all transportations with Hillside Inn because if you don't you will find yourself paying for more if you don't know any better. There is a jeep that goes to Batad from Banaue Local market ( price unknown as I wasn't given a change to haggle and a post a note on my foreheads "generouslady" 😀) if you're in a budget and know where to go at Batad I suggest you do that. But after a long bus ride you just want to Be where you want to Be. After the confusion our pick-up arrived a minute late I say and he admitted😀. We discussed our transport fee and it cost me (4,500 including a tour guide. this is including a return transport to Banaue. Does it sound expensive? I say yes but if you asked and arrange everything thru Hillside which I've admit I've forgotten maybe it will be cheaper. They did gave me a quote for a car pooling price which was more reasonable and again as I was busy thinking everything was ok for our trip I forgot could have saved me a little more for spending money😀.Live, travel and learn... From our journey to Banaue I'll say less than an hour depending on the road we arrived at Batad drop off point. A 20-30minutes trek (depends how long your legs are..mine was a bit challenge) to the town of Batad, every step was counted (I've stopped after 10) it was a good walked I've warned my nieces about the walk and I don't want any complains and they didn't as we were overtaken by an old lady carrying a sack of sand on her head walking as fast as she can with a mismatched slippers (thongs) so no complains at all. After 25 minutes walk we arrived and saw the green roof of hillside inn over looking the Batad rice terraces...yes it was

We wanted to see the place, do a bit of trekking, and understand the culture and people of Batad a bit. The Batad rice terraces are just beautiful. Batad View Inn and Restaurant is also known as Ramon's Native Homestay and Restaurant because it began with two Ifugao native huts for accommodation, but has expanded; now guests can book a hut or a room in a 2-storey building with shared toilets/bathrooms. If you are after adventure and culture/people appreciation, you will enjoy your stay here, as we did. Mang Ramon's ancestors were among the first to live in the valley and build the terraces for rice planting and is happy to share his knowledge about the place. The restaurant food is home-cooked style and tastes quite good, real good value for the price. We hired a local guide to walk on the terraces, visit the village and pretty Tapia Falls (down and up lots of stairs). You can also hike to the viewpoint (more climbing) to see even more majestic views. I'd love to go back one day!

My group went to Ramon's in the first week of December 2016. Ramon's Homestay is a simple, clean, and quiet place away from the city. The dining area overlooking the rice terraces and the comfortable confines of our native Ifugao hut accommodation are good places to relax and enjoy a hot drink or a cold beer after a long hike from Tappiya Waterfalls and Awa Viewdeck. Samson was assigned as our guide and it was good that he shared interesting facts about the sights you meet along the hiking trail. We politely refused the extra activities in the evening (i.e. the rice wine making demonstration, bonfire, and cultural show) so we can enjoy a more natural experience of staying in Batad. Nighttime in Batad is serene and relaxing. The weather in December is well enough for a good night's rest. It would be advisable to contact Ramon's Homestay beforehand to clarify the transportation arrangements from Banaue to Batad. We were a small group on a budget and we were not informed that a chartered jeep was waiting at Ohayami bus station to take us to Batad Saddle Point. The jeep fare was expensive for a small group of four.

I really liked the whole batad experience and this place has the best view, very tasty food and good service. Consider that batad is a very small village in the middle of the forest, so expect a few small moths in the common area, but they're beautiful and funny to watch. The woman running the place is very nice and she will help you with anything. Remember to not book in advance any transportation back to banaue, wait until you arrive to the hostel and they will give you a better price.

Stayed there for two nights, 4 adults and a toddler. Batad still cannot be reached by car, so be prepared to carry your stuff to your accommodation from the end of the road and pack accordingly (I.e. backpacks not trolleys). Locals make a business out of the situation by offering themselves as porters or guardian for your parked car if any. Hard to tell if the latter is necessary or not - I ended up paying to make the wife sleep better. The place itself is very basic (as in water bucket powered 'shower' and toilet flush) but clean, and the view really makes up for everything. Food / drinks is quite expensive when compared to similar food outside batad but I assume that's due to the remote location. We didn't eat anywhere else in Batad so I cannot compare to places nearby. All in all a very nice experience!

Batad Pension and Rrstaurant is a great place to spend the night in Batad. The place offers a nice room - most of them with the greatest view over the terraces, nice breakfast, lunch and dinner in a friendly area where you can easily interact with the other guests and have a good time. However, the highlight of the experience for us was the friendliness and helpfulness of the host and the stuff of the place. Not only that they made everything easy for us but they also made us feel like we were actually home and became our friends instantly. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience. You were amazing to us. Hope to meet again soon !! I recommend everybody this wonderful pension.

Though you will need to walk around 30mins to reach the inn, the location is really exceptional as it sits in the heart of Batad. What we liked the most is how accommodating the owners are and the view of Rice Terraces. Kuya Romy and Ate Ruby are very kind and they even gave us tips on how to commute around Banaue and Sagada. The rate for the room and tour is very affordable. We spent 1000 pesos for Tappiya Water Falls and Awa View Deck which is good for 4 persons - a lot of trekking is required to reach those places. They also have a 2-year-old dog named Digong who joined us during the tour! :) NOTE: No signal. No internet. Water and Food is kind of expensive, though the food taste really good. I suggest you contact the owner regarding the booking. All in all, it was a very nice place to stay in Batad!
