More than 10 Years”

More than 10 years I'm staying in my favorite hotel in Manila because I get the best value for my money. I must to try sometimes other hotels because Best Western La Corona is sometimes fully booked and then I will be happy if I can book the next time BW again. All the rooms are individually styled, clean, and in very good condition. The service is very excellent and all the staff always more as very friendly. The Frontdesk can help you also to organize some city tours or can help with information about sightseeing or shopping malls. The hotel is in the heart of Ermita in Metro Manila and you can do many things from there with a short walking distance. If you like to book a car or van from the airport it’s also a fair price and it’s working good. Let them know if you need pick up from the airport. Best Western La Corona is not a 5* hotel but you get really the best value for your money in Ermita. I hope you will try it soon

Much Better Than Expected!”

My fiancee and I have stayed at several hotels in Manila. The Best Western Hotel La Corona was by far the best hotel we've stayed at for the cheapest price. Trust me, some of the hotels in Manila are very expensive and very dirty! In addition, finding a hotel with good air-conditioning is not something you can take for granted, as we've stayed at hotel's in Manila with Aircon's that barely work. The Best Western Hotel La Corona is only a 5 minute walk to the U.S. embassy, which is the primary reason we stayed there and the price was very reasonable compared to other hotels in Manila and in the surrounding area. The hotel was extremely clean, the aircon was super cold, the showers were awesome, the bed was huge and comfortable, the Wifi was great, and the buffet breakfast was awesome! We also enjoyed the food especially the Pancit Bihon! The desserts including the brownie w/ice cream, the banana split, and the sundaes were excellent too! In addition, it's only 3 minutes walk from St Lukes extension clinic and 7 minutes walk from Robinson's Mall. We have to go back to the embassy in a few weeks and we're definitely staying at The Best Western Hotel La Corona again!

Best Western Hotel is Close to U.S. Embassy”

The Best Western Hotel La Corona in the Ermita area of Manila is very close to the U.S. Embassy. The Best Western staff let us check-in a few hours early. I was disappointed to find out that I could not earn Best Western Rewards points because I did not book the room directly with them. The rooms are nice. We ordered from room service, had the breakfast buffet, and ate lunch at the restaurant in the hotel. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, and the breakfast buffet was included with the room. The taxi fare from NAIA Terminal 3 was P166 ($3.35) in a "White" metered-Taxi at lunch time on a Tuesday (if you take the YELLOW AIRPORT TAXI, expect to pay 2 to 3 times as much). I plan to stay at the Best Western when I return to the Embassy in a few weeks.

A Good Balance”

Staff: Friendly, competent and ready to help. Nice-sized rooms, reliable hot water (you may have to wait a bit), cable, wi-fi. The beds are mediocre, but I had no trouble sleeping. The cleaning crew doesn't rush you, and they do a good job. Hard to find something to complain about.
Coffee. Well, at least it's brewed, not instant. I'd rather have too strong than too weak, and they deliver that, I'll grant them. Elevator. It feels like it was left over from the past. Small, slow and sometimes temperamental. The best rooms are on the 4th and 5th floors, but I often took the stairs down rather than wait.

I don't really like Manila that much, but I like this hotel. One could beat the price a little but matching the features would be tough. I like that balance. The place works well, the staff is friendly, The Bay is a block away, Robinsons a half mile walk, and a dozen restaurants with good, cheap food within a three-block radius plus a wide range of dining at Robinsons. The hotel's own dining room is more than adequate, the breakfast buffet is not lavish but always enough and included in the room price. Wi-Fi is available in rooms, lobby and restaurant, and outlets are available so you don't have to run on battery. All in all, it's one of my favorite places to stay. Ermita is not for the faint of heart. La Corona is an oasis of calm and competence.

Well worth the price...”

staff, cleanliness, breakfast

I travel to/thru Manila several times each year. I felt relaxed and in control at La Corona as did my companion. The room was clean, well-maintained and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was hot, wholesome and tasty. The staff was as friendly and efficient as I've experienced. The hotel, although not particularly close to the airport, is very near Manila Bay and the US Embassy in the Ermita section. It is located on a side street that is a little noisy, but always I felt safe and secure. When I travel again to Manila, I will stay at Best Western La Corona.

Amazing value for money. ”

The Best Western Manila Hotel is probably the best property in Ermita /Malate. It gives you a sense of a boutique hotel which is both cosy and comfortable. The rooms are well designed, big in size, and comfortable. If the property lacks a swimming pool or gym, it more than makes up for it through its fabulous staff. From front desk to housekeeping, bell desk to room service, every staff member is so helpful and always serve you with a smile. If you want to experience true Philippines warmth and hospitality, close your eyes and book Best Western LA corona.

Reconnecting with an old comfortable friend.”

Staff, Safety, Location

My stay at The Best Western La Corona Hotel is always a comfortable stay. The staff from the doorman, to the front desk personnel to the kitchen/dining area staff and especially the general manager are ALL consummate professionals. They are kind, considerate and efficient. They make me feel at home and welcome. The wifi is super, the air con is cold but adjustable. The television set is flat screen with one remote controller which works! In the room is a laminated message for all guests warning them of the pitfalls of Manila and inviting them to utilize the collective wisdom of the staff. I've NEVER seen that in any other hotel. The note is cleverly written to not frighten off guests but to advise them in such a way that they will optimize their holiday. The breakfast choices are plentiful, tasty and filling. The staff from arrival to departure make everyone feel like a VIP! I like the hotel so much I'll be seeing them again later this week. I've tried other Manila area hotels and quite simply they've got the competition beat!

Oh, Manila”

Location, Aesthetics, Staff

The Hotel La Corona is art. It's a grim and seedy art, which isn't my style, but it felt right for the city of Manila. Ermita, the part of town this hotel is located in, is an old part of town that was devastated during WW2. It's now a red light district thick with beggars and street children. I was hassled every time I left the hotel to buy cell phones, women, and trike rides. The hotel itself is a quiet sanctuary from this. But, like the district itself, the hotel feels both modern and trapped within the ruins of another era. My room was painted green, with one wall prominently featuring black glazed stones stacked on top of each other. Everything is clean and reasonably well maintained, but it's a dark place made for dark things. Most of the brightness here comes from the staff, who were always cheery and helpful. Wandering around while I was here I was hard pressed to find a better hotel in the area. If you want to see the old Manila or the modern Ermita then this place might be your best bet.

Greatness Under Philippine Quarantine ”

I was at the Best Western La Corona during the Manila Quarantine and Shut-down in March 2020. They took prudent precautions to protect the guests from the COVID-19 virus and adhered to Philippine government mandated requirements and orders. Unlike some hotels that totally closed their kitchen, they continued to feed guests through room service for all meals delivered to the room -- we really appreciated that and a BIG thank you to the staff. If needed, they made sure we had transportation to the airport or other locations despite the scarcity of transportation like taxis. I have stayed at this hotel before, an I would definitely stay at this hotel again in the future. The staff is friendly, helpful, and overall great. You can walk to the U.S. Embassy from this location, and we walked to a Pharmacy around the corner that was convenient. When the dining room was open, they had a very good breakfast and atmosphere. I had a good stay despite the circumstances.

My home away from home”

Its not often I say this about any kind of hotel anywhere but BW La Corona Ermita is one of the few places i feel safe and secure at, thanks in no small part to the warmth and friendliness of the always accommodating staff. BWLCE is not a big hotel but if you are looking for a small, affordable and friendly hostelry, you cannot go past this lovely little establishment. The small rooms are average but the bigger suites are truly nice. They're extremely clean and well maintained. The staff are all absolutely wonderful. I would also like to say a very sincere thanks to Gu for helping sort out a room booking mistake. I really, really appreciated it. My only real bugbears was the lack of a phone charging powerpoint in the room itself. We had to charge it in the bathroom. I also cannot stand the extremely confusing interlinked switch system for the lighting system. Lastly, the little minibar fridges need to be upgraded. They do not keep drinks cold properly. Overall, 9/

Hotel is located in the heart of Ermita, which has a lot of history that is definitely work looking at and the area ( Fort Santiago, Rizal Park, Ocean world, Robinson's shopping centre, US Embassy, Manila Bay, and Malate Church, just to name a few that are all within walking distance ) many many years ago was once was home to Manila's elite class. Hotel staff are very good and efficient, rooms are good and are as expected for the price. Buffet breakfast is sufficient and the other paid meals in the restaurant are of a good standard. Rooms are secure, air conditioned, mini safe and bar fridge and all work well. Complimentary papers are supplied to each floor every morning. All amenities required ( 7/11 and shops ) are withing walking distance. Dad's Kamayan, Restaurant, in Padre Faura Street, is an excellent 5 star buffet restaurant,at 888 pesos per person and is located a 3 minute walk from hotel. Also check out G Point and La Cafe, but be on guard.

A gem in Ermita”

Value. Safety, Nice room, helpful and friendly staff
No weaknesses

You can stay in a luxury hotel, and maybe it will be a good value, albeit expensive. But for the price, it is very hard to beat Best Western, La Corona. Maybe you could say the area where the hotel is located is run down. But that is part of the reason it is a reasonable price. Many areas of Manila are in worse shape. However a lot of attractions are within walking distance. Including shopping, the American Embassy, and night life.

Our stay at the Best Western Hotel La Corona was great. The hotel is very nice and the beds are very comfortable. The buffet breakfast that was included in the cost of our room was very delicious. The workers there were very welcoming and friendly. At night outside of the hotel the area is a little sketchy, but just be wise and keep to yourself and you should be fine. From what I have read it seems like most of Manila is a little sketchy at night and you just have to be careful. We took a yellow airport taxi to the hotel and it was only 180 pesos or so and we took the hotel airport vehicle to the airport and it was 500 pesos. The only reason we did this because the yellow airport taxi won't pick up from the hotel and so its the other taxis which charge based on time or the hotel one which is just a flat rate. There is a nice mall not far from the hotel that is really big and the boardwalk along the water isn't too far. Overall we had a great time.

east or west.. best western is the 'best'”

close to Robinson mall & Roxas, clean & comfortable

although many have written about the not so good location i.e ermita, the best western hotel la corona is the ’best’ on earth once you are into it!! the hotel is a real pleasant surprise with very clean and comfortable rooms. bathroom is tiny but clean. ac, safe lock and beds are comfortable. the two computers with free internet is one of the positive features. the complimentary breakfast was good with lots of choices. the staffs are friendly and the receptionists are well mannered right now they have a brand new elevator, which is working very well. it is at a walking distance from robinson mall as well as roxas boulevard. it is highly recommended.

Good Stay”

great stay with best western hotel la corona, I was able to get a room that I requested but it took time for me to check in, I hope that they can set proper expectations. I got an extension for the check out time though I wasnt able to take advantage since I will not be staying until the required check out time but I do appreciate the effort. Food was good. A few choices but still a great value for the price of the stay. Staff are really friendly and accommodating. Room is clean and towels smell nice, I loved the smell of the fresh towels as I am particular with the smell of a place. All in all, Great value for money. Near establishments as well.

Manila's Gem”

Friendly staff, nice room

La Corona is one of my favorite hotels in Manila. Not only are the rooms nice and large, but they also are romantic, and comfortable. I expecially enjoyed the buffet breakfast. Ermita on del Pilar street is not the nicest area, but it has a charm of it's own, and the government is moving the homeless beggars out. I wish they had a pool.

Safe hotel in a relatively bad part of town”

The hotel is safe, clearn and very comfortable.

I was, frankly, hesistant to book the La Corona hotel. It is in a very old part of Manila that a number of travelers may describe as dangerous and run-down. I don't know how true that characterisation of the area really is, but the hotel was quite confortable. The room was clean (my primary concern) and the locks on doors were strong and workable. The hotel staff were courteous (as always) and friendly and very helpful. This is definitely a place that I will come to stay again when visiting Manila.
