🌿 Review of Champasak Palace Hotel Renovated and returned in a graceful, clean, beautiful, and new way, full of stories from the past. Impressive from the first step until check-out day. This hotel was originally built to be the “palace of Prince Boun Oum of Champasak” before political changes halted this plan midway. But today, “Champasak Palace” has been completely renovated and reopened in July 2025 — brand new, clean, and full of the charm of the past reimagined for contemporary times. 🏨 Overall Atmosphere From the Lobby to the guest rooms and breakfast area, every part is exquisitely decorated, clean, and looks luxurious for the room rate. The swimming pool and fitness room are a bit small, but in good condition. There is also a Kid Club and a spa, which seem to not be fully operational during the stay, but it’s clear that the hotel has functions ready for the near future. 🛏️ Guest Room We booked the smallest room type via Agoda, but the actual room size was larger than expected and not cramped at all. The bed, pillows, and blankets were soft and comfortable; the bathroom was clean with strong water flow. Facilities were complete and of very good quality. Breakfast The breakfast was delicious with good flavors, offering both local and western dishes. 👑 Special Floor of the Former Prince On the 4th floor, it was originally designated as the private area of Prince Boun Oum, with a President Suite that truly feels like staying in a real palace — perfect for those who want to experience luxury. 🌳 Outdoor Area The gardens and pathways around the hotel are very beautiful, especially the large fountain garden in front and the wooden bridge along the Sedon River at the back, which are great for walking or taking pictures. This is another highlight worth visiting. ⚠️ Things to Know Since this building was originally the residence of the prince, the design still retains “Lao traditional” elements, with every room having balconies connected in front. Thus, there are no windows with private views, and only 2-4 rooms in the entire hotel will have private views. However, with only 65 rooms, it never feels crowded or bustling. Just stepping out of your room, you will already see beautiful wide views. 💡 Additional Recommendations If you’ve seen old reviews before the renovation (before July 2025), do not make your decision based on that information, as a new management team is now in charge. It can confidently be said that “Champasak Palace” is truly a hotel worth staying at.
