City Proper hotels & places to stay

GT Hotel met my expectation. Its not super luxurious but should be enough to make your stay comfortable and would make you feel that it was worth it. Although it is located in the city proper which has an old city vibe, its still near to the more modern part of iloilo city. Near Robinsons mall and if you have a side trip to or from guimaras, i believe it's location is near the ortiz wharf area.

Stayed for 3 nights total. Hotel is just a 3-5min walk from Ortiz Port (bound to Guimaras). It is within the city's commercial district which is close to Robinsons Iloilo, SM Delgado, City Hall, etc. The hotel is relatively new and has that fresh look which is really nice. They have an indoor pool which is open until 9PM which is a great way to relax after a long day of sight-seeing around the city. The staff are great, especially James and his partner on duty. I think her name was Kat. They really helped us in our inquiries about the city. They welcomed us back during our 2nd stay coming from Carles, Iloilo. Food is also great considering for the price you've paid. Big portions. Only suggestion is to make sure the cleanliness (pest control) of the room is monitored, especially because most guests bring food inside. Overall, it was a wonderful stay and will definitely come back when we visit Iloilo soon.

The hotel was very accessible to and from Ortiz Wharf and major malls like Robinson's and SM.Check in/check out was very fast and seamless. We didn't have any problems going around the City Proper coming from this hotel. Just didn't like one Front Desk person who wasn't very welcoming when we arrived though the friendliness of the other hotel staff more than made up for it. We got a room with balcony, which was huge enough for 4 people. Don't get me wrong, i loved the space :) Will stay in this hotel if and when I go back to Iloilo

My stay at the Sarabia Manor Hotel was very pleasant and comfortable . The hotel is close to SM Mall ( SM City ) where my girl friend likes to shop and visit the cinema . The hotel is a large international style hotel with large outdoor pool frequented by local families . The restaurant at the hotel provides a good hot buffet breakfast and even has marmalade ! There is a busy main road to City Proper outside the Sarabia Manor Hotel and plenty of passing taxis to provide transport . Also there are a large number of ' People Carrier ' open side vehicles which stop outside the hotel and provide transport for minimal cost . Close to the hotel there are many nice local restaurants which I frequent when in Iloilo such as ' Ocean City ' and ' Dive Road ' . Some restaurants are within close walking distance too .

I arrived very early, around 6am. I anticipated there wouldn't be any standard room available and that I'd have to wait. The receptionist apologized sincerely and looked almost embarrassed to inform me that they dont have an available room yet but I was pleasantly surprised when they managed to check me in around 9 after I came back from strolling in the city. My luggage was already in my beautiful small room. I was given directions in getting out and about in the city. These people made my 4 days stay with them special. I would have pirated them to work for me if I had a hotel. Haha! The room was simple and beautiful. The sheets smell good however the towels look old but they replace it everyday anyway so thats not a big deal. I did love the shower though, nice pressure. Oh, the cafe serves the best hot choco I've tasted in my life by far. Two thumbs up for all you guys that work there!

I wasn't really expecting a lot from this hotel. But this hotel really exceeded my expectations. I am a former hotelier in Dubai, I am very familiar to hotel operations. From checking in to checking out, their staff were really accommodating, friendly and helpful. From bell men, front office, F&B and recreations staff. Their smiles are fascinating. Room is spacious, clean, fresh-smelling. Their food at the breakfast buffet is superb as well. They serve different kinds of food. They have mediterranean, filipino foods. Asked the staff if the hotel is a 3-star or 4-star or a boutique. He said as of now, they don't have the stars-rating yet. But HOPEFULLY, you get your accreditation as 3-star or 4-star because the hotel deserves it.

We booked a room good for 3 pax and with the amount we paid, we didn't expect too much. The price is lower than the other hotels we looked at. However as we arrived and check in to see our room, it was surprisingly beautiful! It was clean and enough space for our luggages. Not to mention that the bathroom is really good! It was actually our favorite part of the room! Staff were very polite and approachable. Its location was within na city proper and near SM and Robinsons. Highly recommended!!!! Will definitely rebook if given a chance to go back to Iloilo!

I stayed here with my mom for 4 nights for a congress I had to attend in Iloilo City. The room we checked in is very spacious. The staff were friendly and helped us arrange for a free shuttle to go to the venue of the congress. The staff also offer great recommendations on where to eat. The hallway on the fifth floor was hot but since we didn't spend much time here, we didn't mind. If you want to spend time here or on the children's play area though, I think you should take note of this. The hotel has an excellent location so you wouldn't run out of things to do. The hotel is walking distance/ reasonable distance to a lot of tourist attractions. It has a mall and convenience store in its ground floor, an SM Annex behind it, Marymart Mall next to the SM, and a bunch of restaurants including Buto't Balat, Grillers, Decos, Ted's Old Timer La Paz Batchoy, to name a few. On the ground floor, there is also a Gloria Maris restaurant. The city's party place is a taxi ride away. The free WiFi that comes with the room is also pretty good. Do note though that if you have multiple devices, you have to inform the front desk so they can activate the password for it. Our WiFi signal in the room was enough for us (we mainly browsed Facebook or did quick google searches on what to do in the area), though I met someone staying in the same room that had issues with connectivity so I guess we got lucky with our room. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay and I'd recommend the place to other people. I'd most likely take my family here if I return to Iloilo.

We stayed 3D/2N and we did not encounter any problem. Our room has both hot & cold water. Breakfast (bacon,scrambled egg & plain rice) was served in our room upon our request for a cheap price of P45.00/pax only and we are satisfied with it. Walking distance from the hotel is Emilio's Resto (just beside JD Bakeshop) which serves a buffet Filipino merrienda for P99/pax. Ambiance is perfect because it is along the clean riverbank. We watched a fisherman on his boat while we were enjoying our snakcs. JD Bakeshop has so many branches but what we visited is the one near Emilio's Resto. Food is delicious and what entices the cclients is their cheap price. Their fresh lumpia (can't belief its P12 ONLY)is my favorite while my daughter likes their fettucini. We were happy to see JD Bakeshop branch in the 3rd floor of Iloilo International Airport. From hotel is one jeepney (P8.00) ride going to the palmboat station of Guimaras. Palmboat fare is P14.00/pax. Then, we took a jeepney going to San Miguel town proper. We boought 2 kilos of medium ripe mangoes (P70/kilo)& a plastic (250grams) dried mangoes. My daughter wanted to experience riding in Guimaras (back to back) tricycle,thus, we took the tricycle (P70 for 2 persons)in going back to the palmboat station.... ups!!! We had sinigang na baka for lunch (P30 per order good for 2 pax) and fried chicken in a canteen (forgot the name)beside the western union in the area where we took our palmboat in going back to the downtown proper of Iloilo..... Indeed we enjoyed our Iloilo summer MTG training. :)*

this is one of the cheapest,most convenient and comfortable places to stay if you are a local traveler. the price/cost commensurate with the place and services. iloilo city is popular for its salted dried fish and fish paste which can be bought at the public market just few minutes on foot from the hotel. other native delicacies and native products are also available at reasonable prices. public transportation is also very accessible. you can have a jeepney ride to the nearest shopping malls such as robinsons mall , sm delgado, mary mart mall, amigo plaza and the atrium. these are just few minutes (less than 10 minutes) away from the hotel. sm city mall located at diversion road mandurriao is a bit far but it's also just a jeepney-ride to and from the hotel. taxi fare would be around pesos. (affordable, isn't it) from the international airport, you can take a public van going to the city proper for only 50pesos (per head). the terminal is located with sm city area so you can immediately refresh at the mall upon arrival. however, don't be surprised if you will need to pay 70peso fare from sm to the airport. i didn't mind asking why but i think it's still reasonable.

I booked a room for my nephew's mini vaction at another city. I wasn't sure if another family was joining us, so I felt safer getting a hotel at a mall and easily accessible. Turns out, they did join us and got a rm at the same hotel. We were given 2 rooms (1 w/ a queen and another with twin beds) with connecting doors which the kids made good use of throughout our stay to check on what the other was doing. You will need to get the staff to unlock the doors for you though. Perhaps they could leave individual keys in if the occupants prefer the doors not hanging open after they're unlocked. Eating is not allowed in the rooms, but they do provide a few tables and chairs in the elevator hall of each floor(at least, on the 5th where our rooms were). They did have wifi at the reception area, but we didn't get any signal on our floor even when they gave us passwords for wifi upstairs. So, if you need to work online, you may need to camp out at the Starbucks nextdoor. We slept like babies in our comfy beds, with 2 pillows each(usually an extra expense at budget/flashbacker hotels). The much-touted rain-shower was a bonus for my 7 y.o. nephew! I purposely did not purchase set meals from the hotel since we would normally be eating out anyway. (Since it was a required field above, i just picked the middle ground, as we didnt avail of this service) But overall, we enjoyed our stay at GoHotel, and likely to book here next time we visit Iloilo.

When you'll enter the hotel lobby, you can smell the very foul odor of the river. We occupied the deluxe room at it has a wood flooring that wasn't even mapped or dusted. The ceiling also leaks. The cr doesn't have an exhaust fan and hot or cold shower. You'd better not choose this hotel. The management should rather have some investment in here since it has the best location. The river, the access, you can have 1 jeepney ride going to SM or the city proper and it is near food establishment. Is is also near the area where the dinagyang festival is held. But damn they really should develop the hotel and make it even more presentable and it is still okay to retain the colonial theme. For now, you should better choose riverside inn, just beside this hotel. It has almost same price but is more presentable.

The place is situated in the heart of the city where it is just easy for you travel in places cause transportation is really accessible. We did have a great time staying here clean rooms and comfortable beds is the catch. One thing i think they should improve is their staffs it seems to be that they are not that friendly, they dont smile or even talk in a way that they respect you.
