Where to stay in Bagan
Bagan hotels & accommodations

This is my first time in Myanmar and my very first hotel stay in Bagan. I must say I’m very delighted and satisfied with the top notch service and best experience I had here at Ananda Bagan Hotel. Upon completion of booking with Agoda, they provide confirmation of booking promptly in less than 20 mins. Not only that, they also response in reasonable time on my followin...

We arrived very early in the morning, harrowed by a sleepness night on a bus from Yangon. When we arrived at the hotel, the staff at Bagan Thande were very accommodating, allowing us to check in early so we could get a nap in before exploring Bagan. They were equally friendly and helpful when we had problems with our e-bike towards the end of a day of exploring. Though...

Great choice. First thing - swimming pool! With over 40 celsius degrees in Bagan it was a real salvation during exploration of the area (we were taking a break at noon to avoid the hottest sun) as well as during hot evenings. What more to say - there is a bar so what can be better after a long, very hot day than sitting at the pool with a pint of a cold beer? Second - ...

We really enjoyed our stay at this new hotel in Bagan. The beds and pillows were comfortable and the linens nicely cleaned. The staff were extremely helpful with all needs. The breakfast was very good - with some variety with regard to both Western and Asian breakfasts. Although, the hotel did not offer dinner, they were very helpful in allowing us to order from mu...

Wonderful. The staff greated us promptly with a delicious cold lemongrass drink and cold towel in there lovely lobby area while they efficiently checked us in and took care of our baggage and escorted us to our room and toured the grounds. Very cordial staff. Their English is decent for basic communication. The room was nice good air conditioning, lay out, quiet, priva...

One of my headaches before choosing my hotel in Bagan was where to stay - Nyaung-U, Old Bagan or New Bagan? Now that I have been there, I think Nyaung-U was an excellent choice as it is near to the bus terminal, the airport and the ferry terminal. There are tour agencies nearby, and a street full of touristy restaurants 10 mins' walk away. And in Nyaung-U, Royal Bag...

A wonderful 2 nights at this Hotel in Bagan, staff were tremendously friendly and the whole stay was very comfortable. A well appointee room around lush gardens. They have a pigeon problem with these dirty birds in the food court area ( which was worrying) and Our balcony was unuseable due to pigeon shit!! They teally eyed to get a handle on this. Also they had a probl...

Pros: It was very nice to come home to this clean and comfortable room at the end if each day. The hotel has nice decor, swimming pool and is right near ancient temples. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was decent - small selection of Myanmar dishes, plus bread, cereals, yoghurt plus an a la carte choice of eggs or pancakes. Cons: There was a strange ...

This wad my favorite stay of all the places I stayed in Myanmar. I had a lot of questions and requests and the wonderful staff helped me with them all. I booked my onward bus ticket anf they arranged hotel pick up, booked a half day tour to Mount Popa, got a great recommendation on where to watch sunrise etc. The hotel area is beautiful and I liked the atmosphere a lot...

Heritage Bagan Hotel is a beautiful new hotel with all the amenities you can wish for: a large outdoor pool, a well equipped gym and a wonderful spa area. The buildings are adapted to the architecture of the nearby archeological field of Bagan and imbedded in beautiful, well maintained gardens. The rooms are spacious and the interior design shows references to the cult...

Bagan resort review Arrived Bagan resort at 545am via overnight coach from yangon. We were greeted by the friendly staff and the staff attended us, gave us early check in as the room are vacant. Check in with a breeze. Room are clean, spacious and well maintained. Comfy king size bed and air-conditioner is very cool. It is pretty hot at 34 degree (in the noon time)....

After having stayed the previous night in a nearby hotel that held similar ratings we were absolutely delighted to be spending a further two nights at this hotel. There may be other hotels in the area that come with a five star rating but why waste your money. Everything here is five star. Front staff are warm and welcoming, housekeeping do a fantastic job and nothing ...

Our stay could not have been better! From our balcony we had a panoramic view of the pagodas; Kumudara even has a private monastery for viewing the sunset. It is easy to get around by taxi , e-bike or horse cart; the staff will make reservations for whatever you want - private tours, local guides, very inexpensive massages in your room. Complementary breakfast is exten...

We spent a really great stay at Umbra Hotel in Bagan. The hotel is near from the main Pagodas and it is very convenient for sunrise and sunset. They have a nice restaurant around the pool, and anyway, you also have plenty nearby on the street. I would recommend Queen's restaurant that offers gorgeous curry combo. In umbra, you have different range of rooms. I believe w...

Married couple spent 10 days traveling throughout Myanmar. Stayed in some very nice places but Bagan Lodge was definitely the best experience. Traveled during low season and there were maybe 10 other people max staying there during our 3 day/night stay. Pools (2 of them) are perfect. Villa was very spacious and comfortable with huge bathroom for two. Spa facility ...

We stayed 6 nights in this very clean, relaxing and affordable hotel. And didn’t want to leave. As you can read in other reviews, the hotel is a bit dated, but apart from that, this was the best place we stayed in Myanmar. The rooms, with their own veranda, are big and very clean. The breakfast menu (some days we had a nice buffet) seemed maybe a bit limited, but the f...

Lovely hotel close within walking distance to Old Bagan. The staff are very professional, very friendly - always greeted with a good morning/afternoon/evening. Assisted many times with taxi's and the bus back to Mandalay. The rooms were splendid, very clean when we arrived first day and were cleaned on request. Showers and air conditioning were fine, no issues at all....

Stayed here for two nights. Good value for New Bagan hotel with super friendly staff. The rooftop is nice at sunrise for breakfast especially on the extra platform. At dinner, though the rooftop is crawling with grasshoppers. There is an interesting restaurant right next door with a puppet show. Staff could not have been more helpful and friendly.

Shwe Na Di Guest House was clean, spacious, and convenient. It's really close to Shwezigon Pagoda, which means further away from all the main pagoda and monastery ruins, but you'll probably rent a bicycle/electric bike regardless of where you stay and it's not too far then. The breakfast was good (make sure to ask for the samosas because they don't serve them except by...

Really nice and helpful staff that spoke good English and the hotel facilities are very clean and has a cosy feel to it. Although its a bit off from the center of Bagan, they have a ready-available transportation service that is very affordable and as a young woman, I felt very safe being able to ride around with the hotel's own drivers. Bagan is divided into three fai...

Me and my friend stayed here for one night. Right after we arrived in Bagan, after taking an overnight bus from Yangon, we took the sunrise tour being offered by the taxis in the bus station. Though we get the same price as what the hotel offers, I suggest you book from this hotel in advance. It took some time for us to negotiate with the taxi driver to arrange the sun...

This is a very nice hotel if you have limited budget. The rooftop area is nice both day and night. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There are a lot of books relating to Myanmar at first floor, with complimentary drinks and biscuits on the ground floor. They are now installing a lift which address most of the concern on climbing up to rooftop or 3rd floor room f...

I truly enjoyed my stay here. It's at the start of New Bagan, so a bit out of the way, but only a 5-10 minute walk into New Bagan (which isn't big anyway). I stayed here for 7 nights, rented an e-bike (not from in front the hotel though, there are better ones to get in New Bagan) and then the location is great. Close to some very nice temples and it's easy to drive eve...

we had great days in bagan because of the incredible bagan lotus hotel. it's out of bagan or nyaung u but it is the best plce. great outdoor area with pool and fitness studio next to it.there's a bar with happy hours as well! our room was perfect with comfy beds, aircon, room service, drinks in the fridge, super nice bathroom with nice toilet articles like shampoo, lot...

We stayed here for 2 nights. We arrived very early on the night bus (6am) and the staff found us a room within half an hour. We were extremely grateful for this as we had been travelling all night. They have a lovely pool which we relaxed by as well as a spa. We didn't use the spa so can't comment but it looked lovely. They will provide you with pool towels and ar...

aung mingalar have ticked most of the boxes with this hotel - and i think they offer good value for all the facilities they provide (we did stay in one of the more expensive doubles). the rooms are fitted to a high standard and the staff are very pleasant. the only downside that i can think of is that there is a monk who chants (on a microphone) throughout the nigh...
Cheap places to stay in Bagan

The manager is great English speaker and very caring. He always greet guests whenenver they come and go the front gate. Rest of the staffs try to keep smile on their face and are very polite. Dormitory beds are big size and there is plenty of space between the beds. Bathroom is clean and water pressure is satisfying. Things that were was unsatisfying was they had ...

The staff is very friendly and careful for guests. They speak English well. The location is good, as it is in the residential area and not far from the town center. I also enjoyed a free bicycle, by which I could go around Bagan. Most of all I appreciate the best value for money.

All the backpacker basics. Clean dorms & beds; fairly clean bathroom (at hostel standards). Everything you need right around the corner too, on a busy main road w/ food + drinks (mostly at tourist prices, w/ a few more local eateries scattered about), bike rentals, laundry, tours, & shops, & the hostel can & will gladly arrange for anything you need. It was a bit quiet...

The location is really convenient - it's a few minutes walk from the Ostello Bagan (which has the travel desk if you have any queries with your travels/booking tickets). It's near restaurants, money changer, atms, convenience stores, and a new e-bike rental shop (it's literally just outside the hostel) that also offers laundry service. Since the hostel is new, the fac...

Good location - just one street next to restaurants area and on the main road heading to Bagan temples Polite stuff, always tries to help Simple rooms but very clean Poor breakfast - oriented for asians Very noisy other guests - stayed during water festival and the hotel was full of burmese families Weak/broken room doors - could see through

The hotel price is very expensive everywhere in Bagan. This hotel is reasonable price in Bagan. Location is just 20 minutes from old Bagan area by e-bike. Restaurants and small shops where you can buy beer and water are located just 2 minutes by walking. Hotel stuff are so kind. Especially the oldest man of all stuff was so kind, and show me a good price to rent...

I really happy staying here. The owner are very helpful, very nice, also the staff. Thet help us for rent the e-bike, they also give us free map and show us the best place for enjoying sunset and sunrise. And also, they provide us free mineral water bottle if we need more. The location also amazing, located in Nyaung U, close to almost temples in Bagan, also close ...

I arrived at the Bagan Empress a little under the weather and following a difficult trip down from Mandalay. Immediately upon arrival, it was clear the staff cared passionately about their customers and despite not having met me, took every care with my fragile mental and physical state. Advice regarding medical aid was given and I was seen to my room to rest and recov...

When we arrived in the hotel, we were all exhausted due to the bus ride from Yangon to Bagan. We arrived around 5am and we were not allowed to check in yet since there were still some guests in our booked room. So we waited up until 10am. And while we waited, I kind of observed the place. First look at the reception area and ground floor, I was disappointed and was exp...

1) Good Location, The hotel location is located inside New Bagan, near a main road between New Bagan, Old Bagan and Nyaung U. And, you are very easy to find restaurant, Market, travel agency stall, etc. It is 15 minutes walking or 5 minutes by E-bikes. (2) Good Service, The staff is polite and pleasure. The arrange a Twin Room for me shower in early morning, because ...

Amazing choice for a hotel in Bagan. It is in New Bagan, which I preferred much more to New Bagan or Nuang Shwe. The owners were amazing, the breakfast on your balcony each morning was wonderful, and the location perfect for restaurants and shopping. It is also an amazing price for Bagan, and for Myanmar, which is more expensive than other countries in SEA. One of my t...

Great place to stay for many reasons : Helpful and friendly staff, and speaks good english Nice dorms with space and privacy (beds a bit hard, but for me was ok), clean dorms and bathrooms Very good breakfast, a buffet with different choices Cool swimming pool and rooftop with some choices of food and drinks for a cheap price + happy hour! Great location, close to ol...

My stay in Golden Myanmar guesthouse is very pleasant and comfortable. The staffs and owner of the guesthouse are very friendly and helpful: I have read many online forum mentioning the good service provided by this guesthouse, and know that the owner can speak Chinese and can help to manage our transportation booking within Myanmar. So one month before my stay in thi...

I love this place. Location near to old Bagan and many restaurant. Every staff are so kind, have a good attitude and excelent service, especially Myo. My husband & I always asked to him, and he always answer everything that we asked. I think every people in Bagan have a kind hearted. I love Bagan and these people too.

We had a double room. The breakfast area is large, food choices are ok. Staff is nice, helpful and English speaking. Unfortunately, Internet is only available in the lobby area. The cleanliness is not great, you'll see that a lot can be done there with some bleach and mild scrubbing. The bed sheets were clean, but the pillow themselves and the blanket smelled. I coul...

We stayed 3 nights in Bagan but arrived early the first day, at 5.30 in the morning they let us check in which was truly a blessing after a night in bus. All the staff is just adorable, they're always trying to make you feel as confortable as possible. At the time i'm writing this revue, it's mid day and we check out, just waiting two hours in the garden before catch...

The rooms are very spacious. The room itself is very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful, and they smile a lot - truly experienced the Burmese hospitality. They serve variety of breakfast so you get more than what you paid for! Location wise, it's very near the viewing sites and the staff helped me with booking tuk-tuks to see the sunrise and sunsets. We spent four nights here for about $55 per night, which for Bagan at the height of the tourist season is good value. The staff were wonderful and organized everything we wanted: free maps, bicycle hire, taxis, even booked our flights to Yangon for us and had the tickets delivered to the hotel. The room was lovely and the area is quiet. You are only a few minutes' wa...

Travelled to Bagan with my mum and one of the highlights was the experience in Bagan Central Hotel. We took an overnight bus and arrived at Bagan very early, the receptionist allowed us to check in 5 hours earlier and offered us free breakfast as a welcome gift, it was much needed after the long bus ride. The breakfast was definitely luxurious and out of expectation....

Hotel staff do their best of best to serve you. Bungalow style hotel was really nice place to enjoy wonderful place like Bagan. Hotel can order you a horse car for whole day-trip and a boat for sunset at very reasonable price. One other highlight would be its convienent location to a couple of small restaurants. Of course, bus tickets and taxi drivers are easy to find ...

Not bad location, not far to the old Bagan, within 10 mins walk to Nyaung market. A pogonda in front of the hotel, view not bad. Simple breakfast ( bread, eggs, banana ) However, the staff really not nice at all, cold face always. Most unacceptable that, e-bike not good at all. Not recommended to vent e bike from the hotel.

We just returned from a 2-night stay at the Blue Bird Hotel in Bagan. The hotel is situated on the edge of New Bagan, and is perfectly situated for those people who want to tour the area. Real reviews for hotels
Rent the e-bikes. They are a great way to get around all the different pagodas. Only thing is to be careful on the sandy paths as they tend to slide around in the soft sand a lot.
If you want to understand about the Pagoda ad history, you can stay more than 1 day. If not, just a day for sightseeing is enough.
A magical and mesmerizing place. Get there while things are still rather remote and sans swarming tourists.
there are 3towns in a small area offering different localities. All are near some of the temples. old Pagan has more expensive hotels -but little else close by.
You have to go temple hopping and explore all the pagodas and stupas possible. get to know a bit of their stories and enjoy both the sunset and sunrise; those are the gems.
Sunrise and Sunset are MUST-have in the sightseeing list. you can join day tour or hire e-bike in Nyeung-U, there are many shops providing the service.
One of the most beautiful and magical places I´ve ever been to. The sunsets seen from the tops of the pagodas and the sunrise seen from the balloon are something astonishing.
Bagan is fantastic. Enjoy it while you. An. It's like going back in time a few hundred years. So relax and stay a while.
Its like going back 50 years in time. Very peaceful, relaxing and Dec weather is marvelous. people are generally very friendly.
Bagan an old seat of power for the monarchy were a series of leaders built many many many temples of varying shapes and sizes there are about 10 major sights, with many visited at sunset and sun rise( take a torch to all visits whether day or night to see the ceilings and in the stairs to the upper terraces )the area cannot be explained it has to be seen to be believed.
It is still raw; both locals and tourists are the warmest, sincere, and helpful that you'll bump into.
Good town for history of art, ancient religious buildings but the weather is so hot and sun is so strong.
You can see a lot of acient pagoda and you can study for lacqurware ,if you want to buy lacquware shoul buy at baganbecause bagan is distrbution centre for the whole country and real one also
If you arrived Bagan from Yangon via bus, you may want to hagle for the price for a ride to the hotel.
A ancient city build in 12 Century, a quiet and peaceful city. Bagan is a eco city where bike, e bike is everywhere.
Bagan is about the amazing temples and discovering the ancient art hidden within. It lacks the shopping, dining, and nightlife scenes of other regional destinations, but that's what makes it so great.
Bagan is small town in myanmar but have rich regional and historical temple, also is unesco city. is worth to go but is abit boring small state
There are three parts to Bagan, Old, New and Nyuang-U where most of the cheaper hotels are. Did not spend much time in the Old and New towns so can only speak for Nyuang-U.
We planned for 3 days here, which would have been perfect had we not got food poisoning! I would recommend around 4 days, so you can watch sunsets and sunrises, and do loads of e-biking around to the temples! Buy things at the temples, as that is where the best bartering deals are found.
a city that captured me. the sight of hundreds of temples is so majestic, i had a magical feeling. . the sunset is a must-see.
Ballooning in Bagan is just amazing. It was exciting looking at the well-trained crews preparing the balloons and the pilots are professional.
Bautiful temples in an amzing, untouched natural environment.....go now because i will not sty like this much longer
Don't miss the sunrise and sunset. If you have more time, can go to Popa mountain or visit cave via boat/ferry.
You wont think that Bagan will have activity at night but Bagan golden palace is very beautiful palace where you have to go, at night you have to go to see Dandaree show, very stunning cultural show in Myanmar, cant miss
This is one of the best cities with a rich archeological heritage. One mustn't miss Bagan if visiting Myanmar.
I highly recommend this place for students of art, religious and political history. Going to Bagan can be made convenient even by bus if you take the night buses.
Excellent sightseeing with beautiful Sunrise and Sunset. When the hot air balloon flying over the pagoda, it is quite a lovely sight.
Bagan so beautiful. I love the sunset n sunrise view, it's magnificient n wonderful. I will go again if got chance.
Go see the main temples, where all the tourist buses go. You can do that in one day. Then, go and explore the area.
If you arrive by boat it will cost $15 in taxi to New Bagan plus a tourist tax of $15 per person. This makes it quite expensive to get there.
