"We arrived very early in the morning, harrowed by a sleepness night on a bus from Yangon. When we arrived at the hotel, the staff at Bagan Thande were very accommodating, allowing us to check in early so we could get a nap in before exploring Bagan. They were equally friendly and helpful when we had problems with our e-bike towards the end of a day of exploring. Though I'm sure there are plenty of nice hotels in Bagan, the lovely pool, large leafy restaurant overlooking the Irrawaddy, and friendly staff at Bagan Thande made our stay extremely pleasant. For people that intend to spend the middle of the day ducking back to their hotel to recharge from temple hopping, this is a great place to hang out. "

"The location is really convenient - it's a few minutes walk from the Ostello Bagan (which has the travel desk if you have any queries with your travels/booking tickets). It's near restaurants, money changer, atms, convenience stores, and a new e-bike rental shop (it's literally just outside the hostel) that also offers laundry service. Since the hostel is new, the facilities are new as well. If you arrive very early, you can sleep at the chilling area (the other ostello has a rooftop) or take a shower as there is one available for the guests who wait for the check in. As with other Ostello hostels, free coffee/tea, free rental of the towel, free cigar and tamarind candy too. The rooms are very spacious, they also offer a locker inside the room for your valuables. "Wonderful. The staff greated us promptly with a delicious cold lemongrass drink and cold towel in there lovely lobby area while they efficiently checked us in and took care of our baggage and escorted us to our room and toured the grounds. Very cordial staff. Their English is decent for basic communication. The room was nice good air conditioning, lay out, quiet, private. The Myanmar massage and reflexology was great at their spa. The pool ground was nice, pretty architecture and lay out, not too crowded during the hot days in bagan though some of the guests had young children that were a bit loud, crying and throwing tantrums with parents that didn't console them or ameliorate the problem. In addition, some guests brought some of their own loud obnoxious music that was blasting on the common pool ground area which was uncourteous and ruined the ambiance for other guests. It would have been nice if the staff had them turn it off.one other nuisance were guests smoking on the pool ground. This is not enjoyable. I would like to see them have a no smoking policy on the pool ground area as it is not fair for other guests to breath second hand smoke when laying out at the poolside trying to enjoy their vacation. There should be a designated area for smoking. Overall if we were to go back to bagan we would stay there again. The location can't be beat. Very close to walking to some good local restaurants ( the moon) and easy to explore the ancient pagodas, stupas and temples as it is next door to the electric moped shop which we rented for two days with our guide wagi ( best guide ever! The movie star if bagan. Everyone there knows him!!!) to drive around and get places that cars can't get to or that would be bumpy, uncomfortable and difficult to get to. Overall tharabar gate was a great little escape for us in the old city of bagan. It keep a nice authentic feel of being away from it all. It was not crowded with large tour groups which some of the other hotels are "

"We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in september 2013 and everything was perfect. Our Garden View room was large, clean and very comfortable, the staff was kind and attentive, the breakfast was generous and delicious and the restaurant at night serves high quality food at very reasonable prices, which is a good thing because other restaurants in the area are not very close. The hotel is in a perfect location close to Old Bagan walls, bicycles can be rent for a very cheap price and they are the best way to explore the main attractions in Old Bagan if the weather is nice. For other temples and Pagoda outside the walls a taxi ride may be the best option. After a long, long day a-la-Indiana Jones spent in the dirt and the mud to find and discover temples all around Bagan, going back at the hotel in the evening and sinking in the gorgeous swimming pool just before a delicious dinner felt like paradise."

"I truly enjoyed my stay here. It's at the start of New Bagan, so a bit out of the way, but only a 5-10 minute walk into New Bagan (which isn't big anyway). I stayed here for 7 nights, rented an e-bike (not from in front the hotel though, there are better ones to get in New Bagan) and then the location is great. Close to some very nice temples and it's easy to drive everywhere. Bagan is one of the most amazing places I've been and this hotel complements this feeling nicely. Get up early for a sunrise, drive around a bit and get back around midday to lounge around the pool a while before getting out again for the sunset. This was basicly my schedule for the whole week :) Very nice to relax at the pool at the hottest times of the day. The rooms are very nice too, get a room around the pool and you can use the poolwifi. Big rooms, with a tv, nice beds and a good bathroom. Special mention to the staff of this hotel. They are extremely friendly and service minded. They even insist of making your toast at breakfast, filling up your tea or coffee and making eggs. Also when sitting around the pool you can see staff cleaning the floors and area multiple times a day. They are truly amazing and very hard working. I will surely go back to Bagan and will be staying here again."

"Heritage Bagan Hotel is a beautiful new hotel with all the amenities you can wish for: a large outdoor pool, a well equipped gym and a wonderful spa area. The buildings are adapted to the architecture of the nearby archeological field of Bagan and imbedded in beautiful, well maintained gardens. The rooms are spacious and the interior design shows references to the cultural heritage of the region. They are well equipped and well maintained: the housekeeping crew is doing a very good job. The staff is friendly, mindful and accomodating. There are some language barriers but they can be overcome with goodwill and a little bit of patience. The reception crew however is just excellent. There was no question they could not answer and no request they would not fullfill. My special thank this time goes to Mrs Nilar Than. It was a real pleasure meeting you."

"We spent a really great stay at Umbra Hotel in Bagan. The hotel is near from the main Pagodas and it is very convenient for sunrise and sunset. They have a nice restaurant around the pool, and anyway, you also have plenty nearby on the street. I would recommend Queen's restaurant that offers gorgeous curry combo. In umbra, you have different range of rooms. I believe we were in one of the simplier ones but it was OK. The hot water was running well, it was clean. They were changing the towels twice a day and they were preparing your bed for the night every evening. The staff is very helpful and nice to have fresh fruit juices around the swimming pool. The breakfast buffet is very nice and you are warmly welcome. The environment is nice. You have a pagoda at the back of the garden. Another thing, use the balloon service offered at the lobby of the hotel (Golden Eagle Ballooning). They are the best. You are first in the air (on time for the sunrise), they are very nice, the take off and landing is so smooth. A real pleasure. And champagne at the arrival!! I really recommend it. It worth the price. Gorgeous to do it above Bagan. It's worthy to stay in Bagan few days and appreciate the peaceful atmosphere and the rythme based on the sun."
