my friend and i were travelling in cambodia and we had arrived in battambang after a remarkable 10 hour river trip from siem reap. we were exhausted from the boat trip and our previous punishing schedule round angkor wat temples. we had booked a night at another hotel in battambang from where we had planned to continue to the thai border. having spent one night at the...

This hotel was a gem and excellent value for money. Stayed here 1 night while on business in Battambang. Hotel staff were attentive, the free dessert/bananas was a nice touch and the pool was clean and refreshing! Rooms were clean and spacious. Internet reliable and fairly fast. Food was fairly standard fare and cheap, nothing too exciting, but was ok for a one night s...

As a resident of Battambang, I can honestly say that the BTB resort is the best hotel in the city - by far. The pool view bungalows are huge and come with a private patio. The breakfast buffet offers a good variety of choices. Pool is large and clean, which is usually and issue in other places. To some people, the location might be too far from city centre, yet to me ...

Senghout Hotel was a wonderful find and the pool was an amazing addition. We stayed in the newly remodeled part of the hotel which was actually in a separate building from the original hotel, so we did have to walk over to use the pool which is on the 3rd floor and gives a nice view of the city, but even better is climbing up to the 5th floor lounge area where you get ...

very good hotel in battambang, cambodia. if you are passing through battambang, this is a very good hotel. it is a newer hotel with good amenities, a very friendly staff, and a good asian breakfast. also, it has a very nice location with a great view of the river. i highly recommend this hotel to anyone making a trip through battambang, cambodia.

My wife and I have stayed at Phka villa four times now and in her opinion cannot be beaten for a truly wonderful experience that all weary travellers should not pass up."the best place to stay in Cambodia" Run as a family owned hotel with service not matched anywhere else. Setting is very relaxing with ten ground level well sheltered very private bungalows surround...

The Maisons Wat Kor resort is a short distance outside of Battambang (about $3 by tuk tuk). There are 8 rooms in a very "green" environment with bushes, trees and a large pond, in addition to the pool. The staff could not have been more helpful. During our 4 night stay, we had breakfast every day and dinner on 3 nights. The food, both in taste and presentation, togethe...

Thoroughly enoyed my stay at Sangker Villa. The room was spacious and cool and bathroom spacious with a good shower. The Villa location was perfect for me, not right in the heart of the town but a leisurely stroll away. The homemade rolls and jam at breakfast were lovely. One of the best places I have stayed in Cambodia. Staff were all very helpful and friendly and arr...

It was a good two nights in Jasmine Hotel in Battambang. The hotel is situated just outside the central area of the old city adjoining the railway line. It is an easy walk into the city with many restaurants in the area and the rive is just a few hundred meters away. The hotel itself is clean, the rooms large and simple, but adequately equipped. The rooftop bar is a go...

The Hotel is near the night market and riverside. The Break fast is ok. Room and bed is huge. And wide balcony. You will not regret staying in this hotel.. We had a tour the next day, and i have to commend our tuktuk driver. he is on tripadvisor Chhika on battambang tour, he is a good tour guide and driver I recommend everyone to request him if our going on a tour i...

My second stay in Battambang, and we stayed in the top two rooms with the vaulted ceilings. The hotel has a beautiful Indichinese French Colonial style that sort of takes you back to the 1950’s with it’s dining room details and and the staff is so helpful and dinner options are high quality. I would highly recommend this hotel. If you are looking for a beautiful, low...

We initially intended to spend one night in Battambang but liked this hotel so much we decided to stay a second night. It is beautifully designed strikes a really good balance between being modern but having a distinct traditional charm. The floor tiling is really beautiful, Franco-Cambodian style. The rooms are well appointed, and bathroom seriously spacious. The ...

Only good things to say about this hotel. It's clean, comfortable and the staff are so friendly and helpful. Less than 10mins walk to Street 1, 2 and 3 where the cafes are. If you arrive late Sunrise cafe is just around the corner. You can arrange for a tuk-tuk with the hotel. Only US$5 return trip to the nori/bamboo train which is a must do. It's about 15mins away. Al...

We spent 3 nights in Battambang, which is probably all you need if you are travelling Cambodia. The room was great, huuuuge bed which was comfortable and working fridge/aircon. Curtains let quite a bit of light in. We were on 4th flood and there is no lift so please bare that in mind if you struggle climbing stairs. Had ants in the bathroom one morning but when came ba...

Excellent! We got our room upgraded on the first night at no extra cost, moving to the room we booked the next day wasnt a problem as the room standards were very high! The bed was the most comfortable bed we have slept in through out asia! The rooms were very clean and new! Bathroom was spotless, really powerfull shower! Close to the night market and a short walk over...

The Ramchang is in a quiet location about two kilometers from central Battambang. This was not a problem for us since we had our own transportation, but if you are touring the Battambang Region you may have to pay considerably extra transportation costs. This can probably be significantly avoided if you book tours that INCLUDE transportation to/from the hotel. If yo...

We stayed in a double room with our 2 kids. The location is good and you can walk to many places in town (bus station, riverside, supermarket, restaurants). This hostel is clean and surprisingly quiet for its size (it’s quite big). The staff is friendly and helpful. There is a pool but is was closed when we were there. Our room and very big. The wet room was f...

Battambang is a sleepy town with plenty to see if you do your research. This hotel was very well priced, opposite local food markets Only downsides were demolition going on next door, music from market pumping til late and leaking air con (had to place a bin underneath to catch the drips), and breakfast cafe options nearby were minimal & pricey These are only ve...

This was one of the best hotel deals I've ever had. The room I had was very spacious with a jacuzzi in the bathroom and two balconies. The room was clean and all the bed linen and towels were very clean, I was happily surprised to see this level of cleanliness in a 3-star hotel, especially in Cambodia. The hotel doesn't offer breakfast, but there's a restaurant just ne...

Pomme Hostel is one of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed at. Owners and staff are great - more personable than any staff I’ve met in Cambodia. Had a great few evenings chatting (and drinking) with them into the night. The bar is one of the “places to be” in Battambang (live music, trivia, daily happy hour, a selection of beers on tap including Cambodian craft beer), bu...

Great location for Battambang, on arrival we had a slight delay in our private room being ready etc, however I would 100% recommend as the staff were really helpful and any tour of battambang you can book from them at a very reasonable price. I would recommend the dorms.

We loved our beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean room with high ceilings and large window at theThe Asia Hotel . The staff went out of their way to make us feel relaxed and af home. During quiet moments the lovely manager was happy to describe the current conditions in Cambodia, which was greatly appreciated. The fairly standard but tasty breakfast was accompan...

The guesthouse is in a great location, right next to a delicious restaurant where you can also take a cooking class. You are about 3 minutes away from the market and some other great cafes and restaurants. The room was extremely clean and the bathroom was well kept. Would highly recommend. Staff was also very kind! PS. Not apart of the room but we had an amazing tuk-...

If you have stayed at a 2 star hotel, you know what to expect. This place is a warm bed with working a/c and it's safe. The internet depends on how close your room is to the router. A good place to spend a night. The staff speaks enough English to give basic assistance. For the price, it's a good spot.

Let's start with the good things about this place... Centralized and accessible to all parts of Battambang. Walking distance to restaurants, shops.. it's right next to the market... what more can you ask for. Rooms are big. Staff are friendly and efficient. Despite being near the market, it's wonderfully quiet at night. Safe too. There's a security guard who stands wat...

Awesome staff, clean and spacious rooms, big swimming pool with a shaded hammock area. We booked to go to the bat caves with the hotel, which was very reasonably priced and a great experience. We ate a couple of meals there and would definitely recommend the good value for money food. We loved the peaceful location, it is a 15 minute walk to the centre.

We originally booked a double fan room for just 2 nights, but ended up staying for 5. The staff were always so helpful and happy to us walk through the door, we always felt very welcomed. While not always the most comfortable (due to the heat and humidity of Battambang, not because of the room), we found that it had the greatest value of just about any other place we h...

First of all, I'm probably the first person to book this place through Agoda which is why the front desk has no idea at all as to what is "Agoda"! They didn't check for updates on booking even though I booked a room almost a month back!! I told the reception I've booked and paid for a double room but was given a twins room (with only 1 towel) and the lift is not even ...

I spend 3 nights here and it was perfect ! Good location, the staff is very helpful, friendly and polite! The rooms are spacious and clean ! They gave free water everyday! It's very safe place ! I will definitely go there if I come back to Battambang !! I recommend this place ! One of my favorite place in Cambodia !!!

Firstly, it's important to know that the location on Agoda is not where the guesthouse is situated. This was the main reason we booked it so we were a little disappointed when we arrived to a 10 minutes walk away from where we thought we were staying. The location aside, the room is as pictured - very basic, no frills. It suited us fine during our stay but may not app...

City-center is only a 5 minute walk. Staff speaks good English and is friendly. If you want that they clean the room, you have to inform receptionist. Good price/quality. Night-guard at parking. quiet surrounding. Next time we go to Battambang (and we will!!) we check this guest-house again.

We booked this guest house cause it said it was on the city center area. Actually it was not even in Battambang so you have to walk 30/40min to see the first bar or shops. No one speak english so they can't help for anything. We wanted to ask the wifi password, they have to find a neighboor who speaks english to understand. At the end they said they didnt know the pa...

The room was bright and spacious and good value for the money. Receptionist was friendly and very helpful. Opposite the hotel is a Khmer restaurant that serves cheap and delicious food. The River, a popular outdoor cafe / beer garden across the bridge, a BBQ restaurant, a nicely done river park (great for exercise and people watching in the early evenings), and the ol...

Quite good I'd recomend it especially for the price. It has no food that I could tell but I ate at places like Ganesha anyway. worked out well.It seems to be an asian centric hotel,Maybe Thai's?,wealthier than average locals visiting town? English is bad or non existant among staff if your like me and not panicked by that its all good as they are freindly.I had trouble ...

This was one of the best hotel we stayed in our 10 days 9 nights Cambodia trip, we even decided to stay for 1 more night in this hotel when we decided to extend our Battambang trip. Overall it is a quality and nice hotel, with very helpful staff and good wifi speed. It is very close to public transport(bus) and shops like mini mart, bakery, restaurant, clinic and pharm...

Not a terrible guest house at all, it is very basic though. I stayed on the 3rd floor and the room became really hot very quickly. With only a fan in there, it did little to add any comfort. But what I will say is that the bed was relatively comfortable and the en suite is of a decent size. You can book transport and tours at the reception and the receptionist speaks a...

I stayed at Paris Hotel for one night, and it was a last minute booking. The hotel itself is in a great location, close to the central market and bus stations. When I arrived, the room had no towels and toiletries or toilet paper. The pl...

5-star hotels in Battambang

Pros. 10 beautiful bungalows and a huge beautiful pool. Amazing place, large room beautiful comphy bed and a beautiful couch, also a large bathroom with a separate stone bath. The owner, Namfy was brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. It is a little out of town, which we liked (quieter and not so polluted). Namfy would take us in to town in his lovely big car any...

Traveler impressions of Battambang
Battambang itself is fairly uninteresting, but there are some fantastic sightseeing opportunities just outside the city.
I had great plans to go see the bamboo train but fell asleep! I was only in Battambang overnight so didn't really have time to see much.
Battambang is not really a tourist destination. it's really more like a pit stop between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.
we where there in June, bamboo train was awesome, we had fun at the end of the track with the little shop owners, we love to tease them and have fun
a small place bamboo railway is the highlight, tip do not travel to Battambang from Siem Reip by boat as the river is low & it takes 8/10 hours a bad trip get the bus
The two most important attraction are the Bamboo Railway and the Camdodian Circus. Both very unique to Battambang.
A peek at what was before the tour groups and party travellers manage to shanghai the experience. The boat trip up the river is so very worth the time.
Not many tourists come to Battambang, which is a shame. The Bamboo railway experience was one of the best I've had in Cambodia.
This was a nicer place than Seim Reip. It is 3rd world with modern influences arising. There are quite a bit of sightseeing excursions that are not advertised.
Battambang is not visited by all tourists. As a result there is a clamor for the tourist dollar. The temples are over priced and run down after visiting the temples of Angkor but there is something attractive about this place.
Definitely do the bamboo train - it is a very unique and fun experience. If you have small kids and are the "safety first" type maybe i wouldn't recommend it as it is bumpy and no seatbelts or helmets (very unlike a western experience).
The Bamboo train is worth doing. We took a tuk tuk to Boat Mountain and the dam and this went through interesting countryside.
Second largest city in Cambodia but not a whole lot going on - none of the buzz of Phnom Penh, artefacts of Siem Reap or beaches of Sianoukville.
I only stayed in battambang because I took the boat from siem reap to there in order to enjiy the floating villages and lees touristy Cambodia.
Don't miss the Circus it's a really great night out. Get a Tuk Tuk for each day and go out to the Bamboo train, killing fields , bat cave, and take a local tour around the villages seeing really produce being made.
Battambang is a very large city. The main part of the city similar to many big cities. take a bike ride around the outskirts and experience local life and food.
Wonderful city - can be explored on foot, with many attractions and day trips outside the city. Very friendly, gracious people, and a much needed counterpoint to Siem Reap's town centre with all the tourist hustle.
There are very few tourists out at night, and I believe the reason for that is because you just don't feel comfortable at first when walking around in this city.
A small compact city with plenty to do and see. It's worth a visit to the Bamboo Train which is only a few minutes out of the main area.
a sleepy town with its own charme. take a bike or a motorbike and discover the suroundings and you will find beautiful landscapes.
A very quite Cambodian town. The people are friendly and there are some temples to visit. The tuk tuk drivers know the way and are more than willing to help.
I think Battambang is a place to go in case you are in Siem Reap and have 1 or 2 days free. The bus from Siem Reap leaves at 7.
There is good sightseeing around the area. The circus, bamboo train and bat caves were all interesting.
Battambang is a very chill and quiet Cambodian city that has a friendly charm to it that most cities in the country doesn't have.
I find Battambang to be the forgotten city of Cambodia. It has tremendous potential to be a great tourist destination but due to lack of infrastructure in central town, it makes it difficult to get around town and does not look pretty while travelling either.
This is a very interesting town for its history, day to day life of locals, Wats and countryside trips
Battambang offers the Bamboo Train and an amazing mountian top Wat & ruins & Khmer Rouge genocide sites of historical importance.
Battambang is a real Cambodian city as opposed to Siem Reap which is just a tourist town. It is busy, run down but has charm and the river front is nice.
Eat at the Gecko cafe, it's a charity initiative. The food is excellent, international cuisine. Many historical sites in Battambang to see.
Battambang was very welcoming. Locals said 'hello' and allowed us to watch them at work in the fish market, rice paper making in their home and preparing produce in the market.

More about Battambang
The cultural aspects of Battambang are the city’s biggest draw. Temples are scattered throughout the city and offer exciting experiences. Wat Banan is home to hundreds of fruit bats, and Phnom Sampeu is home to even more bats with an impressive show put on around sunset when the bats fly out into the night. The city is also known for its many statues depicting mythical and real animals as well as divinities.
Experiencing the Cambodian life is easily done outside the temples as well, with tours through the countryside and visits to local industries to witness silk weaving or partake in cooking classes. Volunteering is a common and fulfilling activity many travelers can take part in by teaching or offering assistance and services.
Whether living in a homestay with a Cambodian family or feeling the luxury of a classy resort, hotels in Battambang are sure to cater to your every need. Be sure to check out the interactive map for information on hotels, attractions, and must-see destinations.
