Chitwan hotels & places to stay

After 9 days travelling around Nepal, staying here was luxury! When we arrived the staff welcomed us with cold towels and fresh juice which was just what we needed. The beauty of the hotel is unbelievable- you would never think a hotel like this exists in Chitwan. The colours of the flowers and the layout is perfect! The rooms are lovely, with a fan on the balcony it means you can sit outside and not be overwhelmed by the heat. Inside the room was also stunning, the air con was quiet so we had a great sleep! We were lucky enough to watch a cultural show in the gardens whilst sat at the bamboo bar. the only con about this hotel is that it's about a 25 minute walk from the main high street (which isn't really a con because you get to see the beauty of Chitwan and walk past little villages!), but on a hot day it does take it out of you. My partner and I decided to rent out some bikes as we had to kill a couple of hours before we got picked up at 6pm and the hotel were more than happy to look after our bags. Overall I would recommend this hotel to everyone! The staff are so friendly (they even went to the high street for me and got sun cream!) and the hotel is spotless.

You might have heard about hybridized travel modes like “Glamping” or “Flash Packing”, but I believe the Barahi Jungle lodge has conceptualized & mastered an entirely new breed of travel experience called ‘Glodging”. A tasteful mix of glamorous abode in the wilds combined with regulated indulgence, eco-friendly diligence, and decadent home-style pampering! This is probably one of THE best eco-lodges we have ever stayed in across the globe, and surely deserves to be a part of the ‘elite’ blue-lists and clubs, but unfortunately (or luckily for itself) still flying under the radar! We couldn’t believe that we were chilling out in one of the most Romantic Jungle Lodges at the edge of a forest in a Himalayan Country! And the fact that we were the ONLY guests in the entire property only made the sweet experience even more Honeyed! I requested airport pick-up and was quote $20 per person - there was two of us. Whilst $40 was expensive, the hotel was located in a remote place (so not real option). They sent a decrepit vehicle they used for their grocery and vegetable shopping, which was in the vehicle with us. The seat belt didn't work. Most uncomfortable journey. When we left they provided a better vehicle, but we wanted to spend time at another location in Chitwan. They insisted it was a two hour drive away (but Google Maps showed an hour journey), I argued but they insisted they were right, and charged me accordingly a lot of money! We arrived at the location we requested to visit after one hour! So they really knew how to rip-off their clients once they got them at their hotel. Was very disappointing, but they did make a cake to celebrate my companion passing his ACCA.

I would highly recommend Sapana Village Lodge in Chitwan! The room was very clean and spacious. The dining area was very spacious and had a very quiet environment, overseeing a small river and the forest area. In between your jungle activities, you can head back to the hotel garden or dining area to read a book, listen to some music and enjoy the peace there. The hotel also offers pretty comprehensive activities which you may pick and choose, and the price is very transparent (all listed in a booklet). The Manager also speak good English! However, the waiters in the restaurant may need more practice on their English. There were some miscommunication during my trip, resulting in the wrong food ordered. However, I could see that the waiters are very sincere and patient to practise their spoken English with the tourists. Food was pretty decent, but price is on the high side for Nepal. A meal could be USD 5 compared to USD 3 elsewhere, but well, perhaps you have to pay for the convenience in the hotel as the town is a drive away. I will go back again if I'm visiting Chitwan!

The hotel manager was very nice .. he arranged us tour for Chitwan with very cheap and reasonable deal from other people .. he also gave us free stay for night and paid extra for jungle tour in Chitwan as there was some misunderstanding with guide . Overall an amazing experience with all and food and drinks are very as well . Located in centre for of Chitwan jungle safari and walkable for all other activities. The Hotel is very clean and well maintained, the fooding and lodging is very good. Main problem is Electricity which is a major problem in Nepal. The Manager was very helpful, when ever any one goes to chitwan always inform the Hotel before one day so as to book the tour on your behalf. The hotel staff was very helpful took us to a ride for conoe trip which is a good exp..

The property is very nice and the rooms are well equipped. The staff is also helpful. We stayed here for 2 nights. We went in an off-peak season. We were the only occupants of the resort for one night and there was one more couple the second night. The resort was not geared to receive guests and it felt like most of their experienced staff was away. The food was very basic and even simple things fruit and brown bread was not easily available at breakfast. The resort is in a very secluded area. That can be a good thing but it also means that there is no independence to do anything other than what is available at the resort. Not even so much as being able to step out for a meal.

The stay at Park Safari was a perfect stay at a good price. Ashok Arya the manager was helpful and courteous. It's a new property which is maintained nicely. The property is huge and ample parking space. Breakfast is lavish. The only minus is the Wifi Connection and the finding of property. A proper signage is required. It's a beautifully made hotel and all efforts should be taken to maintain it well. Best of luck.

The staff was nice and arranged all the activities for us while we were in Chitwan (as well as our return bus). They were very accommodating. The following are not criticisms (per se), just a heads up. This is Nepal, meaning there is load shedding issues, and this resort is not immune from daily power outages (however, they have a generator so it's not out for more than a few mins each time). Many US hotels/motels have toiletries and various linens but they had only one towel and bar of soap. It's a quaint lodging situation with a nice garden area in the middle. Overall, my friends and I thought that we got a great deal for the place (included breakfast and activity arrangement).

They do everything they can for you just like you are part of the family. I booked the hotel for the wrong dates,but they contracted me and solved the problem easily. When we got to the bus station, we weren't sure whether to get off，but they found us on the bus and offer us free pick up. After we got there, they give us a walking tour to see those animals and then arranged the Safari for the next day. We were very happy to during our stay and we will go back there again if we visit Chitwan again.

My friend and i came to chitwan to simply get out of the busy city of Kathmandu and enjoy the country surroundings. We had already paid quite a lot for our bamboo cottage with was beautiful but we were so dissapointed by how we were treated here. As soon as we got there all the staff wanted to do was sell us more wild life packages which we did not want to do. The even lied to us about the Elephant breeding centre when we asked about it and said we couldn't go there without buying a permit from them costing 1675 nepelese rupees, when we later found our if cost 50 ruppees. One thing we had invested in from the hotel was the traditional dance show. When we turned up to go the hotel said it was going to now cost double the amount they had said because we were the only ones going. Not happy and luckily we fought our case but we had to fight it. Its such a shame as this hotel is in a stunning location but be wary of the staff...

Spent a great few days at this hotel although it did not feel like a hotel at all, chalets surrounded by lovely gardens, very private, nice restaurant, you can book your tours and safari through the booking office, very competitive prices, the staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble for them. I highly recommend this hotel for any traveler such a relaxing place to stay, at a very reasonable price.

We arranged a taxi pick up for our early arrival from KTM and also had early check in. Khumar, the owner, was amazing at helping us put together our tours to Chitwan and to experience the Tharu culture. His prices were better than the tours with a website that I had been looking at and the guides were very informative and personable. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here, Khumar was hospitable and freely shared his knowledge of the area and Pokhara. The kitchen was accessible at all hours of the day or night and the food was quite tasty that we didn't really feel the need to go out and explore the restaurants in town especially after the busy days of trekking and exploring. The town is accessible by walking or the bikes that were available, they even offered to bring us into town. We were slightly disappointed that our room didn't get cleaned but we were only there for two nights so it wasn't a big deal and I'm sure if we would have asked it would have been taken care of, I think it was just overlooked. Khumar's warm personality and excellent hospitality made this the highlight of our stay in Nepal.

Given that Sauraha is in Chitwan district and part of the hot terai belt of Nepal, I conciously booked a hotel with a swimming pool this time. Travelling with adult kids and a grand child, we really enjoyed the pool. The hotel rooms were also nice, though a bit stuffy after the monsoon I suspect. Staff were very nice and helpful. The coffeeshop attached to the hotel serves a good variety of great coffees. The hotel is located right off the main Sauraha road, near the center with the rhino statue. Easy walking to shops, restaurants and the river beach for sundowners.

Lovely big rooms wi a nice area out sited full off green beautiful landscape. The hotel pro vied a free village dancer at the evening for free. Free wi fi available. Hot water fan and AC are available. The most friendly and kind staff I met in Nepal. A great service for what you pay. They also provide a free elephant bath ride in the hotel. Very quite room and peaceful environment.

Hotel Wild Life Camp is in the central part of Sauraha. It has a nice and swimming pool. The rooms are big and clean. The restaurant is good. The breakfast is fine. Just outside the hotel you will find lots of shops and restaurants. They make good food and it is cheap. The hotel maneger is very helpfull and he can arrange tours for you.. F. ex. 4 - 5 hours jeep trip to the Chitwan Park. The park has about 600 rhinos. You will see about 10 or more if you go. All in all this hotel is good and you will not regret it.

Location of lodge is terrible. It takes about 45 minutes walk to the center of town where restaurants and national park entrance are located. The lodge has a shuttle, but they not provide rides unless you are in an activity arranged by the lodge. Taxi is not an option since they don't exist in that town. The rooms are not good either. The moment i entered the room i could feel the dust. Perhaps the intention is to make it look rustic, but the dust made me sneeze and I got a cold. At night I could hear noises in the roof of the room. It sounded like rats were scratching or bitting the roof. The food is just basic. The dinning room is full of spiderwebs

The Parkside is close to the border of Chitwan National Park (there are no longer any hotels within the park itself), in the village of Hattisar outside of Sauraha. It is actually a compound, with a second-storey open-air restaurant overlooking the village and surrounding area. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. We ate all our meals in the restaurant as it is difficult to get around in the town of Sauraha without a vehicle, and there was enough variety to keep us happy, both Nepali and western food. The staff were happy to arrange tours - elephant safari, jeep safari, canoe trip - and side trips to the elephant and crocodile breeding centers. The guides provided by the hotel were very knowledgeable, particularly about birds and animals in the jungle. We saw many animals, although not the Bengal tiger! The brothers who own the enterprise contribute 10% of the earnings to enable disadvantaged local children to go to school, providing tuition and supplies, and also support several other charities, including an enterprise that makes paper from elephant dung, and a women's cooperative selling handcrafts. They speak fluent English and German.

the rooms/chalets were really spacious and nicely finished. it felt pretty classy for nepal. there were nice touches in the room like mozi repellants. it reminded me of a jungly butlins, but in a good way! only downside was the swimming pool - it was empty of water. bit of a disappointment when it's 40 degrees! the staff were really friendly and helpful. i booked all my activities through them and, once booked, i didn't really have to think for myself any more. i could rely on them to make sure i got where i needed to be, when i needed to be there. the food in the hotel was average, i think you're better off heading out to a restaurant if you can be bothered in the heat. the location of the hotel is ideal. it is a 5 min walk away from 'the beach' where you can watch the sunset and the entrance to chitwan park, and a 2 min walk away from the busiest part of the village.

Considering the alternatives in the area (cheaper and dirtier, or vastly overpriced), Hotel Parkland is a good alternative. I would suggest booking with the hotel directly, as their packages that included tours and food were less expensive. The room was clean, internet okay (when the power was on and it was working), 24 hour hot water (although the pressure was a bit low). All in all, a good price for a good room, and the surroundings can't be beat. I would stay here again.

We were travelling in Nepal for two weeks with our three kids aged 10, 8 and 4. The five of us were often required to book two rooms so an adult slept in each room and the kids swapped around their preferred sleeping arrangements. The adults had travelled before, but for the kids the trip to Nepal was the first big overseas adventure. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with mozzie nets, ceiling fans and AC units (bliss), and very good beds. The load shedding is part of life but each room has a solar powered light. The guys here arranged all the attractions for us on the spot over a glass of mango juice (canoe ride, visit to elephant breeding centre, ox-cart ride, elephant safari, elephant bathing, Tharu cultural show) and the cost was about a quarter to a third of the price that our travel agent tried to arrange for us before we left (ie 60-80% discount!). It is the only way to do it. The room rate included breakfast and this was great every day. Try the omelette. The food was good and at a fair price, but on the last day we discovered the bar/restaurant next door (about 30 m away) which was cheaper and also good. It’s the spot for a drink to watch the sunset. The River Bank Inn is a short 100m walk along a track to the main strip where the souvenir shops, ATM’s and eateries are located. It’s a great location. Most guests seem to come here on packages, so the staff includes a bunch of full-time guides who took us on the various activities. They were all without exception lovely guys with great dispositions who made us feel really relaxed and took care of us; they answered questions and were very knowledgeable about the wildlife. They were good with our kids too, who really warmed to them over the few days we were there.
