Dar Es Salaam hotels & places to stay

I stopped over in Dar Es Salaam for 2 nights on my way to Moshi. Q-Bar is quite a distance from the airport but it is in a nice area of Dar, where all of the embassies are located. The staff was really helpful on where things in the city were and cheap modes of transportation. The rooms were air conditioned and the guesthouse was located near cheap local restaurants for those who don't want to eat in house.

As a returning customer I've been again very pleased by the hotel and the friendliness of the staff. I just complete my previous booking. The room: all the items in the room (bed, shower, etc) are near new or very recent and clean. The breakfast: I've received a breakfast every day (coffee or tea, chapati, sugar, blue band). The security: I've travelled with some value items (laptop, camera, iPhone, Samsung Galaxy Note) and cash that I've left in my room without problems. The hotel is family runned and generate a reliable trusted atmosphere. In conclusion, Bushroute Lodge is a budget hotel that give an excellent prestation in Dar es Salaam. The price paid in Agoda is near to the price paid in tanzanian shillings in cash by any customer.

Stayed here for just one night after traveling on a bus for 11 hours from Moshi. We were heading to Zanzibar the next day, and just needed a place to crash for the evening. It offered a great location at a decent price. Free fast wifi, cold A/C, hot shower, free breakfast, and a friendly staff (that helped organize our transfer to the ferry terminal - which is about 10 minutes away by taxi). The hotels in Dar tend to be a bit on the pricey side, so I when I saw Livingstone's price I wasn't expecting much and ended up being pleasantly surprised.

The place you see on the photo is not the same place i do have pictures but cant get then on here.the bed were awful dirty wooden boxes holding the botton of the bed up No shower but the was a bucket we had to ask for water to beput in it so we could wash the dirt off us from been in the rooms no handle on the inside of room was looked in in till morning got bit to death and it rained!! there was a bit of a straw roof but leeked in on make shift bed and on us also most of our clothes soaked were ment to stay a few nights managed a few hours hell on earth dont let it put you of Africa we did find somebeauitful hotels stay away even if you have had your injections

This place is in the middle of nowhere and traffic in the morning is a nightmare in Dar. Give yourself 45min to get to the airport. For that time you might as well stay in a better place in the city. Additionally, they charged me in US dollars for water (2$ for a botlle that costs 1,500 Tz shillings or 75US cents) and 10$US for a taxi to the airport which should cost max 10,000Tz Shillings or 5 US dollars). Sheets had stains on them, room has nothing in it and there was no soap provided. Overall very poor experience. Lady at reception was very nice, but that is small consolation. Look elsewhere.

This must be our work experience in hospitality. The shower did not work, at all and it took the maintenance guy 6 hrs and 2 visits to get "some" water through the showerhead. Telephone in the room was disconnected so we had to walk down 8 flights just to report the problem. The location was ok but slightly further away from the bus depot then we thought. The room is nice and the bed was very comfortable and we had a good night's sleep but shame about the shower facility I think there are better hotels in the area for similar price range.

I arrived at landmark on a busy day. I was allocated a room with no curtains. was advised my room will be changed the following day. as i had been stuck in the trafic from airport for 4 hours i decided not to contest. Unfortunately the music from the Jangwani ( hotel next to Landmark) was way too loud- throughout my stay. Went out for business the following day. After my business adventures, i went to a local gym, return to the hotel only to find there was no electricity. The lady at reception shouted at me for asking when elec would return as other hotels had elec. she was so rude, unusual for this part of the world. She wasnt prepared for my reaction...my advi, if you want peace and decent breakfast ..book another hotel NOT LANDMARK!! Ramada is nearby and you wont regret it. I regret booking landmark.

This resort sits on a great location, up on the hillside of a stunning natural beach a few hours south of Dar es Salaam. I booked a stand alone bungalow, the décor was lovely and private location, but no water pressure. It took me complaining to staff and only 2 days later they realized there was a problem with my water pump, so I changed rooms and could finally wash! Staff are very friendly and try to help, but its obvious there is a big need for training. The open air restaurant has a lovely sea view, but the food is mediocre to poor at best, and if you are vegetarian, almost no choice. This hotel caters to local Tanzanian holiday makers, as opposed to international, European tourists, and this is reflected in everything. there was no wine in the restaurant, I had to bring some in from outside. There is a pool which is surrounded with ugly plastic tables & chairs, there were only 3 broken down sun beds there. However, during my stay the pool was full of noisy children from the city, so I gave it all a miss. The beach is gorgeous, but the sun is so fierce in Tzn; there are no sunbeds with shade devices on the beach. There are 3 african style bomba huts, with charpoys in them, but the hotel staff was usually sleeping in them! During my stay, my toilet broke down, but luckily it was fixed. electricity in the region is very sporadic, expect long periods with no power. There is no wifi, even though booking portals says there is. The rooms feature nice east African furnishings, and the AIr con works when there is electricity. No tvs or mini bars. I met the general manager, and he is the 4th one in 10 mos, so clearly there is an upper management issue in this property. However, The Horse Club is next door, and they offer lovely beach rides, this is why I went to this resort, and the riding did not disappoint. There is also another resort down the beach that serves, good European food.

I was looking from internet a hotel in Dar with sauna and gym. This hotel had both BUT I don't know when the gym was last used. At least treadmills were not working. But I was really disappointed with the sauna. Well actually I did not go there. 40 USD for half an hour. Usually sauna is free for hotel guest. I was prepared to pay 10 usd. But 40 dollars! Come on. Please, take this out from the hotel presentation. But on the other hand the restaurant was superb. Really worth trying.

The hotel is located in a great part of town full of small shops, restaurants, and street vendors. We enjoyed exploring this neighborhood during the day. We also took longer walks, but at least in the directions we walked,things were not as interesting. The restaurant in the hotel served delicious dinners, and the complimentary breakfast was excellent. The staff was kind and helpful whenever we had questions. We would stay here again if we return to Dar Es Salaam.

After a couple of weeks on safari a relaxing, comfortable and friendly atmosphere was needed and well received. I would recommend tte mediteeraneo Hotel. The location is away from the main hustle and bustle and nit one to go to if you want strolls along the beach and high activity, if you want yo relax and enjoy great food and service this is perfect. Very quiet and enjoyable. The staff will arrange transport and other services willingly
