Where to stay in Khon Kaen
Khon Kaen hotels & accommodations

This is probably my second or third review of the Avani Khon Kaen. This is by far the best hotel in Khon Kaen. We always stay here and will continue to stay here when we come to Khon Kaen for my son's tennis matches. The staff really goes out of their way to help, and their English skills are very good. The rooms are clean, and the restaurants are fantastic. Look n...

We originally booked Glacier as we had planned to take the train onward to Nong Khai and it is very close to the train station but in the end the train times are very inconvenient so we took a bus. There are 3 bus staions in Khon Kaen so that was a bit confusing but we arrived and departed from the air con bus terminal to the west of the city. A songtaew is the best fo...

everything in Khon Kaen is easy to reach from the Rosa; Pullman Hotel is next door, Rosa Shopping Center is right across from the hotel entrance & has two floors of electronic sales, many other shops in ground floor, also many good & clean restaurants, below that is a supermarket for fruits, ready made meals, vegetables, bottled drinks from milk to beer & all kind of n...

Enjoyed our stay at the B2 Khon Kaen hotel. Rooms were very spacious and clean. Housekeeping was regular and event free. Breakfast was included as part of the room, and it is freshly prepared after you order unlike a typical hotel buffet. Staff were very helpful although they spoke little to no English so we had to get by with some help from a local friend. Would defin...

Forget the Pullman and the other the big name hotels in Khon Kaen...this is the way to go now. Third of this type of new modern boutique hotel I have stayed. Top quality Fitout. Tv bed bathroom etc. Buffet breakfast is great not huge selection but the quality of the food is superb. Just a little bit seculded from the main highway near the night market but upside Quiet....

We were only staying one night in Khon Kaen, passing through, hotel was fine for our needs. Looked new, friendly staff, clean room, good aircon and good internet, room had fridge and kettle in also. Is a few restuarant's within walking distance, so all in all would fully recommend.

Comparing to the other hotels in Khon Kaen I would say Mantra Varee offers spacious rooms at a convenient location. All the staff at the reception, restaurant and housekeeping were very attentive and friendly. It is very close to Bung Kaen Nakhorn and the Nong Weang temple which I would recommend visiting. Its 9 plateaus offer a very nice view over the city. For shoppi...

Very good value for money, probably the best one in Khon Kaen at the moment, it still very new hotel opened very recently. It used to be a apartment building that is fully renovated. Some of the employees speak excellent english. If you focus on have a good spacious room which is very new and clean for a good price this is the place to be.

I booked this hotel for a single overnighter to rest in Khon Kaen - meaning I only needed a clean bed and safe parking for my car. Room is clean, check-in and out efficient and for the price, it's best value so far in KK. Will also consider other Hop Inn locations if they're available in other cities too

When I booked the room, the option was 2 single beds, but I got a king size bed when I checked in. The room is clean. Breakfast is buffet style, and in my option, is good, considering the price of the room. I wish the hotel can provide shuttle service to and from the airport, even if there is some charge for it. It is very inconvenient to get taxi in Khon Kaen, especia...

The Bright Hotel is really a secret for guests who have a car, like to walk or don`t care about to take a taxi. On beside the Highway 2 and near to several nice markets. It was so nice there that we decided to take it as our standard hotel in Khon Kaen. The breakfast is good and enough! Big car park and friendly พนักงาน !

We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff was very friendly and service was great. The swimming pool is amazing. The resturant had good Thai food and average foreign food. The place is well kept and close to our home in Khon Kaen. We will be going back!!!

Incredibly clean and comfortable room, with a sparkling bathroom and excellent hot water shower. Location is convenient for the central bus station (which is connected to the long distance bus station by a regular shuttle) and Gai Yang Rabeab (famous grilled chicken restaurant). Centralplaza, the train station, the lake and the night market are all accessible using loc...

I always stay in this Hotel when I am in Khon Kaen. The rooms are spacious, clean and have everything I need. The reception provided me with a kettle for making hot drinks and their is plenty of parking. The only downside to the hotel is that there is no bar and the in situ cafe is very limited as far as Westerners are concerned. Also it is not open in the evening. H...

I'm traveller and this is a great hotel in overall, nice clean room, good breakfast and also nice staff especially a receptionist because I had a problem when I reserved with Agoda that is my ID booking didn't show when I arrived at the hotel but the staff solved the problem very well, so I really recommend who want to visit Khon Kaen this is a great value hotel that I...

On Airport Grounds. Very nice hotel with helpful front desk and they do speak English. When I was there, the pool was drained to be cleaned and filled again. I really enjoyed my stay and thought this was a good value for the money. The rooms are of average size for Thailand and quite clean and nice. If your ride does NOT show up to pick you up at the airport and you h...

we really enjoyed our stay with the staff being very friendly. this is our second time visit and we chose to book into the deluxe room which is very very spacious. good selection of tv channels and thai/american breakfast are very good every morning. its location is just 15 mins from airport and 10 mins from the centre of town by taxi. there is a taxi outside the h...

This is one of my favorite hotels to stay when I am in Khon Kaen. It is a very nice priced hotel with great location. It is located on one of the main streets in Khon Kaen. What is good about the hotel, is that it is quiet even being close to the main street. Nice plants in the center of the hotel. Staff has limited English but professional and helpful. I have stayed h...

- Connected to famous Thai restaurants, the foods are all great - Room is a throw back to 1980s design surrounded by beautiful garden - Opportunity to explore city of Khon Kaen and North-Easterm Thai cultures - Should rent a car to make your life easier and to explore local sights which can be quite a distance from each others - Staffs are friendly and willing to help ...

We thought The Charm was a great value-- not the cheapest place in town but very affordable. The place was new and modern with a warm feel, without being "trendy" or "cutesy" like many of the newer hotels in Thailand. Soft, comfortable beds. Mostly Asian breakfast options but some toast & eggs available too. Pretty good coffee. The internet worked fine except for skype...

The best deal in khon kaen, very clean, nice room, free coffee and tea in room. Good free wifi, good tv signal. They give free soft drinks also which is nice. Good shower, good bed, professional staff. Breakfast is good and enough for foreigners and thai customers. Huge parking, quiet in the back with a lake. Very good deal for the price and services. Cheap places to stay in Khon Kaen

Needed to stay at a place in Khon Kaen as I had a flight the next day and this place was so convenient. 15 minutes walk from bus station, 7/11, tesco express, food only right around the corner. Room big and comfortable, showers hot.... definitely worth this cheap price

Very convenient to go to Khon Kaen university. Good shopping at Central shopping centre not far away. Near good restaurants . Can go to many temples nearby. Hotel is clean, comfortable and new. Value for money and good facilities . Good smiling reception . Convenient to cinemas ,markets and shopping streets.Parks and roads are convenient from the hotel.

I've already extended my stay. I like the location, it's near most things in Khon Kaen. The bed is comfortable and the linen and the room is all very clean. Agoda states breakfast not included but everyday they deliver bread for toasting, jams and marmalade, coffee sachets (3 in 1), wrapped and contained in a polystyrene box. This kind of consideration for guests comf...

I chose Thorfan Resort because it said in agoda "Pet allowed" I brought my puppies because it said "Pet allowed" I droved along way from ChiangMai to KhonKhen. and found out that they are NOT allowed pet Anymore. anyway I feel thankful to the Staff that very kind and nice.

I could not have hoped to find a nicer place. Yes it was a struggle for the motorbike taxi to find it in the dark. It's really easy in the day. As soon as I arrived I was in awe of the place. The family that run it are welcoming friendly and attentive. I really felt like part of their family. The room was awesome. Really modern with an amazing shower and bathroom. The ...

Í dont believe australian guy opinion here that you should trust me. Í dont trust if you want 5 star service go pullman and pay for it. if you want modern, nice, clean room with ok amenities...

The room is well decorate with very good quality bed and bed sheet. However, toilet is not well maintained, several equipment got broken. Location is far from town and very quiet. Not recommend if you do not have car. Difficult to find something to eat. Room is clean but you may find little ants in all the corner. WiFi and TV are good.

I have made a booking 3 days before check in but upon arrival they cant find my booking. I have to wait for 10 min to contact the owner so they still cant find the booking. Good luck to me they have room avaiable at the other building. I quite wonder if they are fully booked what will happen to me. The next day I asked for half day check out with half charge at 4pm but...

I was very impressed with this hotel. For as little as we paid, I feel like we got a great value. This place is new, so it is in very god condition and very clean. The security was impressive - you have to swipe your key to get in and out of the lobby/elevator area. The manager is very nice and attentive. I was in town for the Khon Kaen marathon, and he went above a...

First of all, don't use Googje Map cos it will take you to wrong place, the location is not in city ctr, merely 1-2 km away. It's just on the main road but road signage is not easy to read Cool Home in English. I can tell which is adjacent to old Amarin Hotel and 7-11 in front. This is an apartment but not hotel, but it is very very neat & clean place to stay, despite ...

Very kindly Girls in reception and even men very kindly and good service. Orchestra every night on the terrace and good food. Night club every evening in the same building and very important that free safety box in Khon Kaen hotel and good breakfast only 130 bath. Night Market 15 Walking, taxi and tuk,tuk outside. Seven Eleven. I have been during 13 years time at Roma ...

Quiet place on the Khon Kaen's outskirts. There aren't any restaurants or shops nearby, so own transport is needed. Clean, well maintained bungalows, each with a covered parking place, small veranda (you can hang your hammock there), aircon, TV, fridge, attached bathroom with hot shower, set around a yard, among a few garden ponds and fountains. The yard is actually ...

Wishing tree resort is fairly new on the scene, located pretty far away from the city centre of Khon Kaen, off the road going south towards Nakhon Rachasima. You need a car, definitely, unless you are satisfied with remaining at the resort all the time. (The hotel provide limousine service if you need it.) And that is clearly an option, because it is a lovely place to ...

A lovely clean room, all amenities in excellent order, good quality linen etc... nice little touches like complimentary tea/coffee in the room. Excellent Breakfast and a lovely dining room with Karaoke entertainment where we had a excellent meal. Well done Khon Kaen Hotel to maintain this standard of service at such a competitive price.

Real reviews for hotels
Most tourists will visit Khon Kaen as a stopover on the way between Khorat and Nong Khai. There are few Western tourists here.
It is a expansive city, approx 150,000 people. The development extends along the main road. It continues for approx 15-20 km.
Grilled meats are absolute must-trys. You really miss out goodness if you skip grill meats in Khon Kaen!
Day time, you can go to the temple, Kaen nakorn Lake to ride a bike and paddle the boat. Night time, you can enjoy evening at restaurents.
Not a highly developed city for the tourist but it has more traditional Thai culture preserved than Bangkok etc.
Khon Karen everything is better than Bkk as it is not expensive, I love their nightlife drinking that not expensive than bkk
I had an excellent time in Khon Kaen and would higkly recommend visiting this beautiful city with it's friendly peolple who make you feel very welcome.
There are a couple lakes to visit here, lots of restaurants, and shopping. While I was there, I noticed many things going on at night such as an outdoor movie.
Nothing much to do and the hotels are generally of poor quality and over priced for what they have to offer.
I felt like the people were friendly it was a bigger city than I expected easy to navigate if you rent a car the food is still esan style if you like Lao and Thai mix.
very pretty city ,night markets are awesome.great to see thai people doing their own stuff rather than bar girls scammers and peddelers.
Khon Kaen is the big and fancy city. It's never sleep. It has a lot of thing to do suit with everyone from couple, family, friend or event business.
Khonkaen is a center of north east region, there are many places to visit. Not over religious but natural is also interested.
Khon Kaen i feel is one of the nice location in Thailand. i like this city feel relax, friendly people, and also have large shopping center.
I lived there about 1.5 years. Its a nice small city, but in the night the Thai boys like to drink and party.
Strategically important for the Isan region's infrastructure, Khon Kaen Airport was raised to international standards in 2005, with the opening of a new terminal.
Friendly People, good shopping, cheaper than Phuket, new water park built on the rd to Udon Thani, but a bit expensive.
There're some old temple that very interesting to visit. Veatnamese food and Isan local food are exellent
Khon Kaen is not one of your tourist areas. It's not overly "English Friendly" in that 90% of the signs do not provide an English translation - makes it difficult to find what you need.
like many thai cities k.k. needs to clean up. the place is full of discarded waste, plastic bags and general junk.
I mostly spend evenings in pubs and restaurants, and it is nothing like in Europe, I strongly recommend to try that :)
Stay out of town, especially DRIVING on the weekends. The traffic is more-than-the-usual bedlam. At, all costs, avoid Central Plaza.
We have family there so we are used to Isan people. If you are first time in the Isan you could be surprised by them.
Really there is nothing to do or see in this city. I wanted to see the biggest city in Issan but there is no economy here so the town is pretty dead and depressing.
If you like Isan, wou will like Khon Kaen. If you can not stand Thai that are quite impolite, you should better go to other parts of Thailand outside the Isan!
My impression is that KKC is a very busy place. Shopping is well catered for in the Central Plaza which is massive.
Khon Kaen is changing rapidly to accommodate the ASEAN tourist market when the superhighways and fast trains are in place.
Khon Kaen is a big city and having a car here is desirable almost necessary, since most of the attractions are outside of the city.
There's not much to do and see in Khon Kaen, but they have a lot of shopping malls which are interesting to spend your time.
I travelled to the city by train up from Bangkok, arriving in the afternoon with my girlfriend, after checking in we went for a local meal, please don't expect English to be spoken, sign language can be just as powerful,we decided to negotiate a 1 x hour tour of the city in a tuk tuk,he took us aroundd a comparatively small but interesting city
