Find Hotels in Kratie, Cambodia

We stayed at this hotel two weeks after it opened. It is located about 1km from the town center. From the restaurant you can overlook the fields and watch the cows and horses grazing. It was a very quiet location at the edge of the village surrounded by locals’ stilt houses. TIP: If you take a motorbike taxi or tuk tuk, make sure the driver knows where to go. As the hotel is very new many drivers don’t know it yet and several hotels in town use “dolphin” in their name. We rented bicycles for $2 from the hotel which were a great way to get around town. I believe they even offer a free shuttle to and from the town center. Upon our arrival we were friendly greeted by the receptionist who speaks English well. By the time we went to our room the A/C was already running. Our room was in the basement and was very clean. It was cleaned every day and the towels were changed too. There were some bugs getting into our room, but after having travelled in South East Asia for months we don’t care anymore about having a few bugs or geckos staying with us. If it bothers you let the receptionist know and they will take care of it. The room came with a fridge/minibar, satellite TV, water cooker, and A/C. As the hotel just opened and all the staff gets trained on the job, some little mistakes happened (e.g. the milk in my coffee was sour, another guest was served the wrong meal). However, the staff was very apologetic and did everything to fix it. We got the sense that everybody was trying very hard to make our stay as pleasant as possible. There is not much to do in Kratie, other than visiting the Mekong island or watching the dolphins, but the hotel was a perfect place to relax for a few days, the pool was especially appreciated after a hot day! We quite liked the little charming town which offers beautiful Mekong sunsets! We really enjoyed our stay and are happy to have found this hotel! i came to stay at sala bungalows kind of by accident through agoda. i needed a place to days before my scheduled arrival at a hotel in kratie. the hotel was special for me but it is definitely not for everyone. there is no tv/radio, no air conditioning, no nets on the windows (though there is one over the bed). the antique furniture and decorations make each bungalow special. breakfast is served in the small restaurant, but is not included which is silly because there is nowhere else to eat in the vacinity. the evening menu is more extensive than one would expect given the hotel's location. the two evening meals i had there were delicious. the hotel staff are eager to please and enjoy informing visitors about their island home. koh trong has a different feel from its neighbor, kratie. nights are very quiet. if you need an active nightlife in your day, sala bungalows is not for you. you have to take a ferry to get to koh trong and sala bungalows and that is part of it's charm. with no autos on the island, you can higher a bike and peddle your heart out without fear of being run down. friendly farmers and a small floating village at the southwest corner of the island make for interesting, relaxed viewing. don't miss the bats at dusk!

We are a family travelling with a 7 year old child and planned to stay for 2 nights. Although the bungalow was booked months earlier, it was not available because some customers have extended their stay for an extra night: so the night we were split in 2 rooms. Anyway the staff was so kind, and the cook so good that this matter was quickly forgiven. The food is a bit more expensive but as you are on an island with circulating ox-wagons, bicycles and scooters: it's fair. This island is an ideal place for people seeking the real simple life, and friendly contact with the locals. Two days spent there was too short for us and we'll be back during our next trip to Cambodia. Definitely a lovely place.

Clean, simple, and all you need. Friendly staff, though some confusion arose from the online booking (they weren't sure if we had paid- we had). Good location, though be aware that they lock the main entrance door early. We were out until 11PM one night and got locked out! Eventually, they did come down though :). Would stay again, just talk to them if you are out late.

excellent stay. The hotel was conveniently located and rooms were comfortable and quiet. We were on the 3rd floor but staff carried our luggage up to the room.The view from the 3rd floor was wonderful where there was a large shared balcony area.It was an easy walk to the centre, the market, and restaurants. Staff were very helpful with transport from Kratie and with writing hotel directions in Kymer.

hotel bit old fashioned but was was fine. the lift didnt work - wet room shower with electric water heater. the bed was comfortable and room was clean. staff very friendly but did not speak much english. the restaurant only served cambodian food - the chicken curry was just bones with soya. lots of flies. the breakfast choice of eggs but not cooked properly so we didnt eat them - they do their very best and are so friendly. we had an early start to s.r and waitress was woken up and served us in her pyjamas with a smile. there is nothing else to see apart from the dolphins so just spend one night there. the hotel next door has live entertainment - it was good fun but menu only in cambodian. very friendly. to be honest i am not sure i would travel so far to krati again - long uncomfortable journey - just to see dolphins swimming around for an hour.

I booked for one night and ended up staying for five. The guesthouse is clean, safe, comfortable, and very conveniently located - next to a big market and a two-minute walk from the river. Lots of restaurants nearby, motorbikes to get anywhere, and the feeling of being smack in the center of local Kratie life. Loved the fact that this guesthouse has a spacious rooftop, complete with hammocks, view of the sunset and of the moon. There's Internet and even free Kundalini yoga. The staff was wonderful - friendly, accommodating, and makes you feel at home. Great place - would totally stay again.

Very underwhelming. We live in Cambodia so nothing surprises us, but the customer service was particularly poor - restaurant staff resentful of customers and inattentive staff in the hotel. The cleaner banging on the door and trying to break in whilst ignoring our cries to wait very early in the morning just to give us an unneeded bottle of water was a new one though. We noticed plenty other guest houses and restaurants offering far better service for half/a third of the cost of a room here, so there are plenty of better options in Kratie.

We are two backpackers travelling through Cambodia. Because we needed some rest and recovery after Siem Reap we decided to go to Kampong Cham and Kratie to look at the dolphins there. In Kampong Cham there is nothing really "to do", which means: perfect to relax and let your soul rest a bit: The Guesthouse was perfect for this! We had a great big room with huge balcony to enjoy the view to the Mekong. The owner is super funny and helped us wherever he could. If you don't have high expectations concerning the facilities and luxury, this is a great place to stay! The only thing we might criticize a bit is, that we missed a place to put our clothes and other things (such as a little furniture), the cleanliness of the room as ok.
