"As soon as we arrived we knew we were going to have a faboulous stay Recepcion hall is an open courtyard where a nice open fireplace warms you up as soon as you arrive There is also a great bar (with an other fireplace) My boyfriend is a smoker and as in Japan smoking areas are really hard to find he really enjoyed this one as it was in a great space. After our welcome drink (which was amazing!!) we got few information about the hotel and we have been really pleased discovering the Onsen was a free in house guest facility The Onsen was great we put on our super comfy kimono and enjoyed the hot water tub. Staff was great and really helpful, they even helped us book a great traditional dinner in a restaurant. We didn't really want to leave! I highly recommend this hotel in Kyoto "

"Best hotel ive stayed in Japan in this trip. Location was excellent, bus stops right near the hotel that go to main attractions in Kyoto. Take a bus pass instead of the combined subway pass. We took the combined pass but found that buses were the way to go in Kyoto. Hotel room was of a decent size for Japan, amenities in the room were great, soap and shampoo were of good quality, and we were also provided with pyjamas! Breakfast was free and there were many pastries available, although it got boring after 3 days. There was also juice, coffee/tea and sometimes fruit. Highly recommend this hotel. Will stay here again if I return to Kyoto."

"Best hostel per budget so far I’ve been to in Japan. You get fridges to store food, kitchen to cook, coin laundry and locker to store small valuables. Downstairs is a cafe where you can eat all day, Nepali chicken curry is very good. Note that you make your own bed. For access, take Keihan train to Kiyomizu-Gojo station and walk here, or JR train to Kyoto station and take the bus 86, 100 202, 207 to Gojozaka bus stop. The hostel is near Gion area and the entrance pathway to Kiyomizu temple. Other attractions are easily reached by bus and I suggest buying 600 yen one day bus pass from the hostel staff if you will ride the bus at least three times in one day, except for Fushimi Inari which is much easier to get to by train. For food, head left towards Gion direction for about 300 metres, there’s a 24 hr Fresco supermarket which sells much cheaper stuff than convenient stores."

"Very nice and clean hotel in central Kyoto. Hotel is just a minute walk from the subway station and Hankyu train station with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. You can easily walk to Nishiki Market and the Gion district. Rooms are small but that is expected of Japanese hotels unless you spend more money. There is a coin laundry for you to wash and dry clothes so that was handy for us. Highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in Kyoto."

"Our stay at the Green Rich was very pleasant. I rated the food 3 but I wish there was an option such as "not applicable" since we did not eat there at all. Breakfast started to be served at 7 am and usually we were out at 6:30 since there were so many thing to do and see in Kyoto! I wish the hotel had an option of not having bed sheets and towels changed every day other than leaving the do not disturb sign at the door. We really do not need clean sheets and towels every day, but because the trash cans were small we needed the garbage to be emptied every day, since we ate breakfast in the room every morning before going out. About 10-15 minutes walk from Kyoto Station depending on how fast you walk, but we had our day passes and we always got the bus back to the hotel after a long day walking in the city. There is a but stop half block away from the hotel, and to go to Kyoto Station, just get the bus across the street. (Purchase day pass when in Kyoto if you are visiting several attraction on the same day. The pass is ¥500 with unlimited travel on the day, but you can easily spend ¥1000 if you go to 4 different places) I would definitely stay there again. BTW it was the best business hotel we stayed from the other 2 we stayed in Japan during this trip."
