Traveling to Morocco? Find Ouarzazate hotels

We moved to the Berbere Palace after a few days in Le Palais De Arts to take advantage of the pool facilities (largest hotel / best pool in Quarzazate to my knowledge - hotel is something of a local landmark) but sadly it rained. Our suite was clean, comfortable and very large, but all of the decor was pretty dated throughout the hotel (bathrooms especially) although not in bad condition. More of a 3*-4* (at a push) hotel by UK standards than a 5* and probably not worth the +£100 a night price tag. Standards however, are different in Moroccco and for a small town, this is a 'fancy' hotel. The hotel was very quiet when we stayed, and it seems like Quarzazate caters for a large tourist population that it fails to attract (there's not a lot to do there and surrounding areas of natural beauty/historical interest can all be covered in two day trips - Skoura,Valley of the Roses, Dades Gorge one day. Movie studios,Taourirt Kasbah, Oasis Fint, Ait Benhaddou the next).The staff were nice, spoke a good standard of English and French and were happy to help arrange (expensive!) drivers for said excursions to local landmarks. The breakfast buffet was of a pretty good standard and variety. Wifi pretty weak.

The hotel used to be an upmarket stay for the film industry lovelies, when Ouarzazate was hopping. It is now pretty run down and staff disinterested. The pool was clean and the site safe, but it was really only a place to sleep. Ouarzazate does have a few below average properties, so I'd recommend going a star or two above this hotel to achieve a reasonable level of quality.

DO NOT LET THE NEIGHBOUR PUT YOU OFF!!! It is worth the effort to find this Riad so stay away from the hotels off the main streets. GPS your way here, bite your tongue through the dusty roads (we arrived when it was pitch black driving in almost dirt roads, partner nearly forced me to turn around as she thought it looked like an abandoned area). Found the place due to the doorman and large double gate of what seemed like a mini fort. After checking in, the manager arranged a purpose made meal for us on request at 11pm. Luckily the cook lived next door. AMAZING LAMB KEBAB!!! AMAZING. We spent a good 10 minutes slowly exploring the main building. Only regret was that we didn't stay an extra day or 2 to recharge from the long drives. Lots of hidden areas and rooms to duck into to read and relax. Very good high pressure shower and welcome platter; tea, fruit, and nuts. We are planning to return just to relax in this Riad and hope that everything remains the same. Easily the best place we stayed in on our entire trip in Morocco and Europe! This is out of 10 hotels, 6 riads, 9 guest houses, 4 backpackers, 3 hostels, the back seat of Hyundai i10, a tent in the desert and curled next to a camel under the stars.

We spent two nights at this hotel.Rooms were small,clean and functional.Bedding spotless.It was very cold weather but each room had a heating/airconditioning unit on wall.Outside space was attractive and suitable for sitting out in warm weather. Next door to film studios. Staff helpful. Breakfast very good. We ate in Ouarzazte so cannot comment on restaurant. The wifi worked.Great value for £26 per room wth breakfast!

The hotel is fantastically positioned and has views of a really authentic village and the surrounding mountains. Dar Bladi is liked to the rather fancier dar daif next door but is far better value for money. The staff are super friendly and go out of their way to make our stay really memorable. The location is about 12-15 minutes from Ouarzazate by car and we had an excellent driver / taximan that took us wherever we wanted to go. Some of the local attractions are a little cheesy but worth seeing anyway. A trip to the local Oasis (Kif - I think it is called) is well worth the drive. All in all a great position and a great experience

This hotel is ok, more of a 3* by UK standards than a 5* and in our opinion, not worth the +£100 per night per room price tag considering you can stay in fairly palatial riyadhs for less than half this price. The pool is much smaller than the hotel pictures suggest (too small for swimming) and the only time we tried to use it, we were plagued by the flies that were buzzing around the drains and water outlets. The staff here are lovely but a little overly attentive for British tastes - we felt like we were being followed most of the time. The rooms are large and decorated in movie themes paying homage to Quarzazate's film industry - a good idea in theory, but the reality is pretty tacky. That said, our room was perfectly clean and comfortable, but the shower pressure was pretty lack lustre and the wifi very weak/unavailable most of the time (but hey, it's Morocco). Breakfast was good and plentiful. Night life in Quarzazate = 0, and there is not as much to do in the surrounding areas as the guidebooks suggest. Cars booked throught this hotel(and most Moroccan hotels, it seems)for excursions are VERY expensive, so best to hire your own car.

Nice boutique riad-hotel, centrally located inside the kasbah of Ouarzazate. Rooms individually decorated with many traditional morrocan elements, almost like a museum. Good room size, bathroom in contrast small and in need of renovation. Very limited window view but great view from the common roof top terrace. Extremely friendly and attentive staff, very good breakfast. Opt for the senior suite for a special experience!

It's a bit out of town, but the hotel is so beautiful we decided to stay there a few nights after the Riads in Marrakesh. The owner is a very friendly Spanish gentleman and he built the hotel himself. The room was quite cold, but the airconditioning can be converted into a heater and they also provided me with a portable one for the freezing bathroom. The food at the restaurant was really good and the breakfast too. However... because of the set-up (foreign owner; luxury hotel...etc.) this was the only place my wife didn't lock her suitcase and 2 hours before our flight out of the country we discovered her engagement ring was gone. It was too late for a police report. She had hidden it in her wallet and then left the wallet in the suitcase. Money was still there. We still dont know for sure when and where the ring was stolen, but in general just remember to lock everything in Morocco. Or leave all the expensive things at home.
