Taoyuan hotels & places to stay

Room was comfortable enough. But I found it odd that a cigarette stub was floating in the toilet bowl when I checked in. I had requested a non-smoking room. I laid down for a nap, but was awoken by hotel staff who informed me that she had checked me into the wrong room. other guests had already checked into the room in which i was resting, even though there was no sign (other than the cigarette butt in the toilet bowl) of anyone having been in the room. I was asked to move to another room. i had reserved the room at Clover House because I had a 6:00 am flight the next morning and wanted to be near Taoyuan airport. Actually, Clover House is not that close to the airport. Perhaps a 20 minute taxi ride at 4:00 am when there is virtually no traffic. i went out for a walk around the neighborhood. i found a hole-in-the-wall with good food. also found a good chinese medicine massage.

The location of the hostel is great. Just 5-7 mins walk from Taoyuan train station. However, the hostel in only 8th floor of the huge building that requires keycard to get in. You need to call the staff, so that she come down to pick you up. If you have no cell phone then it will be a little inconvenience. The staff can speak English though (not that perfect but she is communicable). It takes around 30 mins from the hotel to the airport by car (my friend drove me there). But I guess it would take 45 mins to an hour if you take the bus from Taoyuan station.

There are 2 buildings in the hotel, 1 is the old apartment and another one is under renovation. We were given the one that just finished renovation we guess in the new building. Overall the room was very nice & helpful staff. There is breakfast starting 7am with Taiwanese dishes and tasted good. Highly recommended for those with late arrival to Taoyuan airport to overnight here.

I love their breakfast and it our 1st breakfast at Taiwan, although we only stay 1 night, the staff are good and friendly, we request to leave the hotel early, as we need to catch up the train at around 7am, they say breakfast will be serve at 7am++, end up they change another breakfast to us, which is yummy.. they just left it at the doorsteps, maybe to avoid disturb us from sleeping. Hotel is cheap and not for fussy customer. It super near to the train station, but it can be hard to locate the hotel, as we walked round and round to look for it.

We stayed here during a 22-hour layover and it was perfect. The staff are really friendly and helpful. I had a self-inflicted problem during check-in but the woman at the counter was able to help me out with the problem quickly and satisfactorily. They will organize a driver for you to Taoyuan Airport for 380 NTD no matter the time. The taxi out to the hotel was a little less than that. Pro tip: during a 1-day layover, get lunch and do some shopping at the Gloria Outlet Mall, then take the MTR to Huanbei Staton (3 stops) and walk 15 minutes along the river to Zhongli Night Market. It's a smaller night market compared to the ones in Taipei but, because of that, it's less crowded and a little cleaner without losing any character or delicious food stalls. I found the hawkers a little friendlier and less pushy than their peers in Taipei. It was a great Taiwan experience during my layover without trekking all the way out to Taipei.

Part 2: Checking-in and out were easy and immediate and had no problems despite arriving at past 2am. We were immediately handed our room key, located at the 9th floor. Upon entering, the room had a distinct smell that I can’t describe but eventually got used to it. The room has ample space to move around. No closet, just hooks with 2 hangers. The bathroom was large, which we appreciated and water pressure was good. The hot and cold mechanism for the shower was simple and easy to use. We had twin beds and we found them comfortable, with 2 fluffy pillows on each bed. I earlier said not to be intimidated, because the location might not be as good, but the room we had was almost comparable to 4-star hotels. It was clean and the aircon was quiet and working well. No in-room bar, though, but not really a problem. TV channels are all Taiwanese so we weren’t able to use it. Breakfast buffet has several options, but really did not appeal to us as their menus are all Taiwanese food (we think). They provide all basic stuff including slippers. In summary, we liked our stay at Lido Holiday and with the amount we paid we like it better as it’s true value for money.

The price for we paid for our stay was cheap however, we were accommodated very well. I informed them that we will be arriving Taipei early morning and was a little anxious because they were not replying to my concern but it turns out that they were expecting us. They also helped us get a cheaper ride going to the airport. The hotel room we got was expected for the price we paid only we got stuff for two persons only when we booked the room for 4.

The hotel is nice, the place is homey and instagramable. The receptionist can understand English and was very accommodating and kind enough to give a map of the mall, convenient stores, restaurant near the area. Infront on the other side is bus stop going directly to Taipei Main Station (bus 1212 I think). 7/11 is 5-10 mins walk from the hotel, the nearest convenient store is hi-life. There is a night market near the area. The bed is comfortable and the room is elegant and looks nice. The nearest station is Huanbei (A21) but it's 15-17 mins walk from the hotel. No near tourist spot though. Overall we had a nice stay.

Stayed in the hotel because we arrived in Taipei late at night and the hotels in Taipei was very expensive. The hotel is a one-floor hotel located in a building and the lobby was very creepy. But the room was great and quite large in terms of Taiwanese size, but my room doesn't have windows. Breakfast was very simple & ok and I think they bought it in a market. The staffs were very friendly: offered advice on how to get to Taipei, booked us a taxi, and even offered us to be dropped off at the high speed train station. Hotel was within walking distance to the train station. Would definitely stay here again for transit, as there is nothing much to do in Taoyuan.

Overall thats good. We had a local chinese buffet breakfast in the morning. But the breakfast is available from 7am-9am. I think that would be better if the breakfast time is valid till 10am. Coz most of the shops and shopping center in taoyuan are open at 11am. We would like to have a long and good rest, but not wake up in the early morning for the breakfast at 8.30am and spend our time on the tv in the room. But anyway, the quad room is big. Internet speed is fast. Good value of money.

This is definitely one of the best hotel rooms I have ever come across in my life. The quad room we had is very spacious & well decorated that it gives you a feeling that you are in an art museum. Too bad that this was more like a transit hotel for us as we had an early morning flight to catch & just needed a hotel proximate to the airport. The hotel actually provides free transport to the hotel. Just let them know your flight timing & they will do the necessary. To top it up, they will pack breakfast for you- a fruit juice pack & a sandwich. We actually ate the sandwiches when we touched down on home soil. After heating them up, they are still fresh & tasty. You literally get the VIP feeling from the hotel with their services. Even though you may find the hotel in a rustic part of Taoyuan, you will be surprised by the amenities nearby like eateries, supermarkets & convenience stores. Do take the HSR to Kengkou station (A11). Then board the local bus called GR & stop at Lingguo stop.

The place is clean, very comfortable to sleep with and is accessible to railway station. Had a great time during our stay. Night receptionist should at-least know how to communicate non-Taiwan citizens, but we really appreciate her efforts in accommodating and communicating with us. Overall, it was indeed a great stay in Duke Hotel. If we were to comeback in Taiwan, we will definitely still stay here. :)

City suites is only 10mins taxi drive from Taoyuan International Airport which is the reason why i chose this hotel because we arrived at 1am. The check in was fast, no hassle at all. We really loved the breakfast, there are a lot of choices, though most of the food are Chinese, they are all good. This hotel is a bit far from 24-hour stores and fast foods, but, people are coming here for their buffet which is very cheap (NT$275)and food choices are really great. From this hotel, we took a cab going to Taoyuan High Speed Railway, which took us 15mins only. From Taoyuan HSR, at NT$155/adult, you can reach Taipei Main Station for only 25mins. After 3 days in Taipei, we went back here for dinner and stayed for few hours, with free use of computer, even though we're not checked in, while waiting for our flight at midnight. The receptionist called for a cab for us, and they were very nice to us.

Our stay at Beethoven Express Hotel was pleasant, our flight was supposed to arrive at 12:30am but delayed for 3 hours hence did not arrive in Taoyuan til around 5am. The staff waited for us all this time and had a friendly attitude despite the long wait. Buffet styl breakfast was included and it included many delicious local dishes. Even though it was a short stay for us, we would definitely come back. It is a good stay if your flight lands early and you require some accommodation close to the Taoyuan airport.

Free upgrade due to existing double bed room no available (it's quite standard, but I mean with this price u find no way they gave this privilege. Least if all, they aint offering a smoking or single bed room if pretty lucky). The staff is nice, helpful & details explanation. Free mineral water is honored the most, yet they provide free water dispense at lobby. 500m away from XinMing Zhongli night market. Room facilities & accessories is enough. Green tean, 3in1 coffee, 3in1 milk tea, shower cap, toothbrush & paste, comb set, hair blower, TBC taiwan TV channel, refrigerator, USB power port, multiple lamp switch, etc. Sound proof is acceptable to me since i was passed out due to too tired. It can hear a bit of noise from outside or next door during open/close. As for the price, it ain't bad! Worth it!

I am so happy I found this place during my latest stay in Taipei. I decided to stay here b/c I wanted to find a cheap-ish hotel near the airport. While it turned out not to be that close to the airport, it was close enough (about a 20 minutes and $600 TWD taxi ride). The surprise about the place was how good the English was from a few of the clerks behind the counter. They were very helpful in things like checking me in, directing me to an electronics store (b/c I had lost a charger in the airport), and also a situation where my contacts were damaged in the room. After bringing it up with them, they were unbelievably apologetic and helpful, when they could have easily been the complete opposite (especially for a budget hotel). Anytime I find myself needing a quick place to stay in Taoyuan, I am coming to Hua Yue! The breakfast was modest, but fairly tasty. It had four small buffet trays of stuff, usually with two or three Chinese breakfast foods, and one tray of excellent eggs. I might go back again just for those eggs alone!! The room: I had a single with a large, comfortable bed. The room comes with a large bathtub, refrigerator with bottled water, coffee/tea, and even a water fountain for hot water only! This was a great little addition, as I love to make my own instant coffee. (Also, you can just throw a cup with the hot water into the fridge for a few hours, and viola, potable/cold drinking water! Lastly, the wi-fi was amazingly fast! I was streaming videos and downloading stuff, both on my computer and phone, with great ease. What a treat to save a buck AND have the little things work so well. Again, this is truly a hidden gem if you are looking to spend less than the typical 70-90USD for a room in Taiwan. Trust me, this place will not disappoint.

We only spent one night as we were on our way from southern Taiwan to the Taoyuan airport. (It was a 40min drive to the airport on a weekday via taxi.) We would have happily spent more time at this hotel. The staff was extremely friendly, there was a language barrier but they were well prepared for us and had our keys ready when we walked in. The room seemed very new and was very clean, the bathroom was large and well equipped. We didn't use the TV, but the beds were comfy and clean and we enjoyed having the small balcony to store our shoes and stroller. The included breakfast was a bonus! It was about a 10minute walk (with kids) from the train station. There wasn't a lot of food options late at night but there's a 7-11 close by as well as 2-3 cafes that we didnt try. Would highly recommend and would stay again! So glad we stayed here!
