"At 20 USD per night for the 30 sq mtr standard room, the Mekong is excellent value when in Thakhek. The other hotels/guesthouses in the area are either smaller and/or more expensive for the same price. The 2nd and 3rd floors also give great views across the Mekong river at night. "

"Stayed here New Year's Eve; new hotel (three years old), beautifully decorated and designed. Our room at the back was only fifteen dollars; if we were staying again (and we would stay here if we were coming to Thakhek again) I would spring for a slightly more expensive room at the front of the hotel with a river view. Good breakfast with excellent coffee."

"We used Thakhek as a base to do some trekkings and sightseeing around the province. The location of Inthira Thakhek is very good since we booked the tours with Green Discovery Laos, which in fact is at Inthira. The price was not bad, but I found it a little bit expensive for asian standards. The air conditioner of my room was making the power go down so they changed us for another room. The breakfast is not buffet and there aren't much options. We dinne at the Hotel for 2 consecutive nights. It has a nice restaurant."

"The Dongsay Hotel is pretty new so everything is fresh and clean. Our Double Room was spacious with large windows and a very comfortable king size bed. The buffet breakfast was adequate, it included eggs, toast, fruit, Laos noodles, a duck dish, sausage & ham, porridge, instant coffee, orange drink, and tea. Although the staff spoke little English we were able to communicate well enough to have our questions answered and found them to be both accommodating, they allowed us to leave some of our luggage while we did the loop, and helpful, arranged our bus ticket to Pakse. The location is on a quiet street a little ways away (less than 2 km) from the town center, which can get loud at night. We found the short walk into the town center to be enjoyable but for some it may seem inconvenient if your only goal is to rent a motorbike and head out of town to ride the loop."
