“Great location, hotel needs updates!”
Checked in around 1am without any problems. Went up to the room on the 9th floor and immediately hit with a nice lemongrass scent which after it wore off discovered the room was musty as well as humid and wet even with the ac on. The suite is spacious with a living room, kitchen and king sized bed. Bathroom had a bath and shower. The toilet had a bidet that was most likely from the late 80s or 90s which used a manual dial and shot only COLD water. Stepped into the shower and nothing was marked. Which direction for hot or cold water. They had those large containers for shampoo, soap and conditioner, none of those nice Thai brands … and I could barely see which container was labeled what. One evening I tried taking a bath and the water pressure is quite low. Went to check on it after 10 minutes and it was about 4-5” of COLD bath water. Yes of course I figured how which was hot and cold despite again no indication and I found out that after about 1-1/2 minutes of hot water, the water heater stops and goes to cold. So no bath. Plus, there wasn’t any soap or bath salts to be seen. Only one soap at the sink. I should’ve changed rooms due to the room being so moist and musty but I figured it would dry up the next day with the ac on however it didn’t. And no longer was the nice lemongrass oil a part of the everyday housekeeping. I did at one point turn off all acs for a few hours but it was still musty and the sofa was a bit moist and the mustiness was also absorbed into the sofa. As for the kitchen, I only used the fridge and hot water kettle and those were fine. They provide bottled water. 2 tea bags and 2 capsules of coffee for your stay. I did not use the pool which looked nice however I saw that from the walkway on the 9th floor so I can’t tell you much. My friends and I had breakfast in the hotel restaurant. Since we didn’t have the breakfast included, we were able to purchase a coupon at the front desk for 354 baht. Usually at Thai hotels, the buffets are generous and feature both local and international food. The Dusit suites comes with a menu you can order eggs, waffles French toast from. I ordered one eggs Benedict which when it arrived was a poached egg on a piece of bread the size of the egg floating on a giant plate with one piece of bacon. There were maybe around 8 hot dishes available sausage, chicken ham, some noodles, congee, veggies and then a small selection of breads, one platter of cheese… and some fruit and like three juices… it felt more like a continental breakfast than a nice buffet breakfast that you would get at a small boutique hotel. Very disappointing to say the least. The only nice part was our super smiley and cordial waiter. The following days, we ate outside instead and happily satiated with a good bowl of beef noodles for 150 baht. Since I flew in from the U.S., the jet lag would have me up early so naturally, I would check my laptop however, the internet was not working at 5am. The WiFi would come on but could not connect with server. I called the front desk and they advised to log off then log back on. And after many attempts to remove the WiFi , there was no way to relog back on. I also asked my friends in another room and they had the same problem. None of it was fixed by the time I checked out at 9:30. Unfortunately, I would not recommend the Dusit Suites. There are far better hotels which are less expensive and with a much more comfortable and updated experience. The saving grace here were the staff and the location but it’s unfortunately not enough.
