Exceptional”
My 2nd time at this old but charming and very clean hotel. The staff there are very welcoming and in fact recognized me as a returning customer and was very warm with their hospitality. I stayed with my daughter this time and was a solo traveller last trip. She was also very happy with the old world charm of the hotel. The 1st time though, I was a bit spooked at the beginning as I checked in at 10pm after a day trip from Mont Saint Michel and the room had a very strong old world aura about it. So, for those who cannot take the old world charm, best to check in to a modern hotel. Other than that, the location is perfect for visiting many sites in central Paris on foot as it is near St. Germain, Saint Chapelle, Notre Dame Cathedral, St. Jacques Tower, Le Pompidou centre, BHV department store, les halle etc... The Chatelet metro which connects many train lines is just around the corner. Love this hotel.

Comfortable hotel in excellent location”
The Grand Hotel Dechampaigne is very welcoming and attractive with friendly staff. Its greatest benefit is its location, very central and with a close Metro station. Breakfast good value for money and plenty of choice. Our room was small but that was no disadvantage for a weekend.

Good location, nice breakfast and friendly staff”
I decide to take my son to Paris for 5 days as he had just graduated from college and had time available as did I. We took a train in from London as this was the first stop on our trip and a taxi from the train station to Dechampaigne. The taxi driver's GPS got a little confused and we were dropped at the curb and the hotel was not in sight. After a quick walk through an alley we arrived and were pleasently greeted and our reservations were in order. The elevator was very small and could only fit 4 people and that was without luggage. The room were a bit small but we had two bed which were comfortable and usabel bathroom space. We did not have the right plugs for our computers but the front desk was able to fix us up with a converter. The room/ hotel is quite old and had some great architecture including some original exposed wood that was very weather and authentic. We walked to the River which was less than a block away and is a great landmark with most attractions within a couple of miles. We walked everywhere and stated each morning with a great continental breakfast that was generous and had a nice variety. A small grocery was just around the corner and shopping and metro were very convenient also. We had a graet time overall and truly got to experience Paris on a somewhat reasonable budget.

Fine choice...for Paris”
If this hotel was anywhere other than Paris, I would have been disappointed with the price for what I got, but you just have to accept Paris is expensive to stay in! Location was great. Near Metro, walk to Louvre and city sights, plenty of bars and eating places nearby, not on a main road so whisper quiet at night. Bed was very comfy and room was spotless and warm but bathroom is a design disaster - shower so tiny It’s comical, but you find ways around it. Depending on price, I would stay here again. Staff were always polite and lovely.

fantastic location”
The hotel was wonderfully traditional, staff very friendly, and we loved being able to walk to many of the main attractions of Paris. The rooms were pretty compact, but they were charming.

Very French hotel right in the heart of the city”
For a first time in Paris this was an excellent base for these Aussie visitors. Our room was very 'french' the staff very helpful, the hotel breakfast our first choice each day, the shops and cafes just around the corner and the whole experience a delight. We expected to use the metro but from the hotel we could catch a hop on hop off bus 2 blocks away and the water buses likewise. Being in the First district just a block from the River Seine is just the best. Having waded through countless B&B and hotel offers, we believe this was the best choice by far. Fantastique!

Good location, quiet, 'historical' hotel building”
Located off the main street, so away from traffic noise. Metro (Chatelet - a multi-line interchange) is very near doorstep; supermarket at next block. Hotel is on an 'old' building (some structure >400 yrs old??), and furnishing is also classic, but dated. Staffs are helpful (concert tickets, airport shuttle, postage etc). We stayed 3-nites there. We like modern/contemplory furnishing better, so the decor was not exactly our preference. However, we love the hotel location - we walked to Center Pompidue, Lourve, Notre Dame, Saint Chapelle, Musee D'Orsay! Did not have breakfast there - so no comments.

First time stay but won't be the last”
Ths hotel is as central as Paris can get, a 2 minute walk from Chatelet metro station and just off Rue de Rivoli. Close to all shops, Notre Dame and the cafe culture of the Marais.

Great location, small rooms. Clean. Friendly staff”
The hotel was hard to find because of construction blocking off named access street. Noise from construction during the day. The staff was friendly and was willing to make accommodations to make our stay enjoyable. It is in a great location for Noter Dame and the Louvre. Plenty of Restaurants within walking distance.

Quaint Little Room”
We had a two night stay here in Paris. The room was rather small - with NO tea/coffee facilities. If you want a cuppa - you need to go downstairs and pay extra - that sucks! The staff were pleasant and helpful although I think we were ripped off with the airport transfer arrangement by the man on Reception.

Great Location! Great Staff!”
The room was very nice, although European small. The staff was excellent at all levels, helping me with my tourist arrangements, right down to opening a wine bottle for me! The location is perfect for me. Ten minutes walk to the Louve, 15 minutes walk to Notra Dame, 10 minutes to the Sien River . beautiful. . with lots of bars and restaurants. I was very happy with the choice and would definately stay here again! Olga, behind the desk, was particuliarly helpful to me. I highly suggest this hotel!

Hotel with a character in the historic center ”
This hotel has unique and thematic rooms in the center of all historic attractions. We stayed in a yellow room. Although rooms are small, there were plush robes, towels and slippers awaiting, something you expect from a 3-star hotel.

Lovely period hotel”
We enjoyed the historic decor of the lobby and rooms. The office staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was small and you have to pay $5 euro extra for 1 soft boiled egg...kind of cheesy . But it was super close to everything-grocery store around the corner-The Seine- one block the other way!!

Small but very nice ”
We had a nice stay here. The room was tiny but great location for the price. It is very close to metro stations but it’s a short walk to most places. There were robes in the bathroom which was a lovely touch. Front desk staff was very helpful and kind.
