Apparently the best in Paksong area (?)”
Falls View is a nice respite from the busy highway running through the Bolaven - rather a surprise to us. The rooms are quite simple although bathrooms have seen some updating and hot water was sufficient on chilly mornings. The resort is laid out on hills so would be difficult to access for people with mobility limitations. The restaurant has very nice (local) food, very casual and outdoor, picnic-table style. We were very sad that the coffee shop never seemed to be open and the coffee was substandard considering that it is the major export from the area! Staff do not speak a lot of English but there is little contact with them. The waterfall is very beautiful and hardly anyone goes down to it, although less than a 10 min walk. It's all quite adequate although "resort" is a bit of a stretch.

Two days of exploring the waterfalls”
We had a very pleasant stay of 2 nights at the resort with a spacious room, nice staff, tasty food in the restaurant and it's beautiful surroundings. On the second day with did the half day tour to Tad Champi: a great hike through the coffee plantation, local village and old mountain fire (dan xinxay) to the waterfall. Really worth it!! With it's great location close to the waterfalls (tad fan, tad yeang and it's own tad Itou) the resort has great oppurtunities. It could offer other excursions e.g. mountainbiking to the waterfalls, or a trip to tad lo or having rental bikes.

Amazing place. Saw the best sunset of our lives on top of the waterfall”
The waterfall is inside the resort and it's amazing. In 50 meters the coffee plantations start and you reach the villages. Very friendly people everywhere. The sounds and the smell of the j

Fine if you don't have too much expectations”
We paid 38 Euro per night and for that price we know what is fair to expect. If you know that too than you will have a good stay there. If you expect high class and perfect western cleanliness then you would be not lucky here. You are in the middle of nowhere in the nature! We loved to have the waterfall nearly for ourselves...it was lovely being on top of it during the sunrise.

very boring for solo traveller”
I got a cold and back problems and could not do the trekking I planed to do. The guy who picked me up at the airport (forgot his name) was very nice and we bought shoes in Pakse before heading to the guesthouse. He was also helpful trying to help me with my back problems. A very nice guy. The guesthouse is in the jungle. If you are not motorized, you are stuck there for the evening, which is not very pleasant specially if you are solo. When I was there it was pretty cold in the outside restaurant, so the guests just had a quick meal and ran back to their room. As I could not do the trekking this place was just boring for me.

Xyz”
This place needs some serious investment. The rooms were built to a high standard 10 years ago but have not been maintained, the mattress was knackered and the shower ancient; it could be fantastic but they need to repaint the whole place and tidy up the grounds. Popular mainly with visiting karaoke parties which did not bother us, but is symptomatic of how little effort the owner is making; the newly opened nearby sabaidee resort is going to finish this place off - the food at sabaidee was excellent, wish we had stayed there instead.

It’s quite far from town. I recommend you guy to rent a car. We rent motorcycles and we drove in rain! (2 and a half hours) .

Total ripoff. Completely out of Lao character. ”
Noisy neighbors/rooms, combined with many bugs and some dangerously slippery slopes made for a less than average experience. Which would have been fine since the environment is very nice. However, the big surprise came at checkout. Apparently, the meals come at a premium. And there is no priced menu ... To put things in perspective ... breakfast: two eggs, half a tomato and a prefab sausage ... $7,50. Luckily we had dinner elsewhere.

Peaceful in the nature”
700 metres from the main road. Nice cottages clinging on the hillside. Stream and waterfall. Restaurant with thaifood. Only beer and soft drinks. You cannot put the bills on your hotelroom bill. The manager speaks English.

Acceptable”
While the bungalows were good, there was an air of neglect about much of this hotel. It needs firm and experienced management to take full advantage of its location and exceptional setting. And it needs some money spent on its marketing and its infrastructure. The local staff were lovely and enthusiastic. Apart from a local walk, there were no tours available from here over New Year and you really need your own transport, I'm afraid.

Good”
