“Good but needs a little improvement! ”
Stayed here for a night in the room with 2 beds. The hostel is good but it does seem to need a slight renovation here and there. The room is tiny but decent enough for the price but it is dimly lit and that is the case for the entire hostel. I definitely think it will be excellent if they just add more lights and maybe consider changing the colour scheme from grey and yellow to something more brighter. The reception staff are good and professional but the hostel by itself has many rules. Maybe they have had many 'wild' residents but it seems that now they are overly cautious and there are rules plastered everywhere especially if you make noise or cause damage. One con is that they also have no breakfast or 24 hours coffee. Maybe it's because of the season (October is a shoulder month) but most hostels at least give you a 24 hour coffee counter. Similarly with the drinking water, there is a 'free drinking water station' at the ground floor in flasks which one has to come every time and fill making you feel extremely conscious and guilty as it's right next to the reception. They do have a good security system with the key card and the 9 pm main doors locked which can only be opened through your key card. I must also point out that the bathrooms and toilets are clean with shampoo and body wash in the bathrooms. Towels were given to me in the room as included. I did find it interesting that though check out was at 12 noon, the reception called me just before 12 and despite telling them I'll be down in a minute, the receptionist asked how many minutes (maybe with the intent to charge me more). I did feel rushed and the check out seemed very hasty and not the regular kind Thai greeting that you expect. Would I recommend this place? If you are getting a great deal, then sure but I would hope that the hostel upgrades some facilities such as the lighting and painting of the place.
