Convenient hotel with many amenities”
We have stayed before at Galare thong tower as it offers apartment like rooms, so you have all kitchen equipment. The hotel is not for from Chiang Mai land where you will find a great swimming pool. We had our own car which makes staying here convenient. The bistro downstairs is great and is run by a Belgian manager so they know Thai as well as Western food.

Quiet hotel with great location”
galare thong tower wasn't the easiest to find but well worth it. hotel exterior is quite plain but surprised when i saw the rooms, they are modern, clean and big. good value for money and close enough with a short tuk-tuk ride to many markets, temples, restaurants, etc.

Nice location and nice price”
A convenient restaurant is located on the first floor that provided good, tasty Thai food that was not expensive. I encountered friendly staff every where at this location. A shop located next to the check-in counter is available that provides drinks, snacks, personal care items for sale. A couple washing machines were also available to wash your own clothes or you can pay for someone else to take care of them for you. You're option. Galae Thong is not far from many sites to include the Night Bazaar, Sunday Night Walking Street, and the Old City. Can walk if energetic but have Tuk Tuks and Songthaews available on main street not far from Galae Thong. Overall a great experience. I will stay here again during my next visit to Chiang Mai.

Long term stay, away from city centre”
We stayed for one month, initially booked for 3 months. The only reason for changing was that an illness left over from previous travel outside Thailand, caused visits to a hospital and racked up some heavy medical bills (even after travellers' insurance). So to remain within budget, we were forced to look for alternative cheaper accommodation. Felt very sorry to leave Galae Thong. The flats were 3-star, therefore some facilities (kitchen, shower) are not so modern - but they function perfectly well. Wifi quality was excellent. Because the condo is approx. 2 miles from the centre, I loved the quiet location on a traffic-less leafy 'soi'(=neighbourhood) close enough to the main road so in 2 minutes I could walk and hail a tuk-tuk taxi. Besides the Galae Thong Bistro on the ground floor, which serves great smoothies and simple food, there is a small grocery shop where you can buy the basics like drinking water. Having the balcony was great for drying clothes in the day, and in the evenings enjoying the scenery with a beer; the Galae Thong is one of the last tall buildings south of the town, the higher floors have a view over the countryside. A few of the staff speak enough English to help with minor enquiries (I needed a few pages of printing). Even those who didn't speak much, clearly wanted to help and searched for other staff who would understand the question. If self-catering like us, a cheap taxi ride will take you to branches of Tesco Lotus, the British supermarket chain. If wanting to eat out, there are restaurants within walking distance, the German Beer House (in the same soi), a Chinese (1 min walk on Chang Khlan Road, direction towards town), The Park Hotel, crossing Chang Khlan Road there is Soi 1 Cafe and Restaurant for homemade British food (re-located from previous location near town). After the headache and hassle of big cities like Bangkok, Galae Thong allowed us to calm down for some time. Well recommended for a peaceful break.

Galare Thong Return visit”
Galae Thong is actually a condo tower, with some of the condos being rented out. I enjoyed my stay there again. I had the room with a kitchen. The rooms were spacious all appliances worked well except hot water for the shower. The bed was comfortable to me. I enjoyed using the microwave, the toaster and the hot water heater(for food). There is a small convenience store near the office on the first floor which I used to purchase water and soft drinks. The location here is not quite as close as other hotels nearer the city center, but that was not a problem for me. I plan to stay here again if I return to Chiang Mai.

Great apartment a little bit away from the action”
This hotel is actually pronounced "galae thong" (not galare). This would be a great place to stay if you have your own transport. This apartment block hosts mainly people on a monthly lease. Staff are friendly and speak English, will call transport for you and advise you on rough cost. There is a 24 hour reception and mini store for snacks and drinks (including beer) at reception as well as an onsite restaurant. Apartment is 25min walk from night market. (Further to thae pae) We went New Years time when traffic was pretty bad so caught tuk Tuks (instead of songteows) and paid 200-300 baht each time (we were told it should be 150-180baht so we were either paying New Years or farang tax) transport is also super easy to catch from Main Street (they'll beep you as they drive past) Apartment was serviced once during our stay. Would definitely recommend this place, especially for longer stays, only inconvenience was location as we didn't have our own transport.

great value for money”
The actual name of this building is Galae Thong Tower (no "r"). It isn't a hotel, but is a self-catering apartment/condo block, centrally located with good views. There are no signs to direct you, only one small sign reading "Galae Tower bistro" which is only visible from one direction Heading North on Chang Khlan Road (not South from the city centre). The apartment was quite basic, but had everything you need, including a fully equipped kitchen area. Very good value for money if you wish to stay in a quiet part of Chiang Mai, with your own apartment for the same price (or less) than a backpacker's hostel downtown. NB* it should be noted that the room came with twin beds and WiFi internet was not included, but weekly/monthly access tokens can be bought at reception for 200/500 Baht.

Relaxing and everything taken care of”
I always stay here when I go to chiang mai. Though its a little out of the way (only about 2 km from the south eastern gate) it's quiet enough to never need ear plugs and its still close enough to walk to the markets if your up for a 3-4 km walk. If not the red taxis are always available on Chang klan rd. This hotel offered everything I want while I'm there. It's fully self contained, very modern with large flat screen tv and bath tub. Here you will be completely left alone other than daily room attendants cleaning. It's definitely worth being a little out of the way to stay here.

Great budget accomodations.”
The Galare Thong is an excellent jump-off point to one of the best places in the world to visit, Chiang Mai.

Out of town location but big clean space”
I booked Galare Thong for a friend who visited me in Chiang Mai. When I went to meet him on his first night it took me 40 minutes to find the place, although I only live 2km away! - it's way back behind the main road it claims to be on, and there are no obvious signs. However, his room was massive, since this is a block of serviced apartments really and not a hotel. It had facilities for cooking and a big bed. Overall, my friend thought this place was decent value for money but decided to move further into town after a couple of nights, because it's quite far from the main action (10-15 mins by pushbike). His other complaint was that wifi was not included in the room rate, and was quite expensive to purchase in hour-long blocks from reception.

Good value”
This was the third room that I had stayed in at Galare Thong. The rooms vary a bit in quality but had everything that I wanted. Only issue I had was wifi. Overall, I had a good stay and would recommend.

A Great Find”
Given the price for this hotel/serviced apartment, this may be the best deal in Chiang Mai. About 1.5 km from the night market, it is close enough (for me) to the action, but far enough away from the noise/crowds. My studio apartment(s) were clean, comfortable, and large enough so I did not feel cramped. They had kitchenettes allowing me to store & cook food. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Good value for the money”
Have stayed multiple times at the Galare Thong and will continue to do so. Great location only minutes to the Old City. Nice bistro downstairs serves breakfast as well as western and thai entrees. Very good coffee as well.

Old But Nice Hotel”
The hotel is quite old. Even though everything in the room such as air-con, toilet, sofa, bed is really old, they still work fine. I like the kitchen very much. It is practical with all necessary equipment for cooking. The room is wide. The toilet is a little bit dirty especially the shower area. Staff are very kind. 11:00 am check out time is too early. I went there around 2:00 pm and the room was not ready for me yet. This was a little bit disappointed. Overall, I think it's worth its price. you get what you have paid. If I am in Chiang Mai again, I will definitely stay in this hotel.

Amazing place with nice view”
Features at a very good level there, also nice view from window. You can see mountains. For sure I would recommend this place again for those who want to travel there alone or travel as a couple. Equipment there very nice and hotel is very clean. Furnitures are in good condition. Have a nice time in Chiang Mai!

Great room, spacious, all included”
you: know your way around chiang mai already, have no problem with transportation and getting places (rent motorcycle, car or local transportation). this is not a hotel but it offers much more, full kitchenette can cook, wifi is strong, and they clean it when you need!

Great accomadation for long term stay.”
GT is more of an apartment then hotel room. They did provide room cleaning every day with out being asked. Large room with kitchen and flat screen TV with cable stations. Great for a long term stay if you have transportation to get into the night market area. A brisk 15-20 minute walk with no motorcycle. If you don't need to go to the night market or city area of Chiang Mai many low price local style options within 5-10 min walk, massage, restaurants. Check out the Green Fox small restaurant and bar for great value.

Love Love Love”
This hotel was amazing, it was like we had out own little apartment. Rooms were very big with kitchen and big bathroom! We felt just at home. Great TV with surround sound. It was a bit of a walk to the excitement in Chiang Mai but it was worth the walk!

Good sized, well appointed rooms”
I messed up my reservation, I booked two days earlier than I thought, and there were no rooms available when I finally showed. I have however had two previous stays at the Galae Thong, each for a month in duration and have found it to suit my needs perfectly. This is not a place to stay for a couple of nights but for any stay a week or longer it's perfect. There is a nice little Bistro that will provide room service but the units are equipped with adequate cooking facilities I.e. a 2 burner stove, fridge, microwave, coffee drip, pots, tableware for 4. A small studio apartment ready to move in! Transportation is easy to obtain but it is a little far to walk anywhere of interest, particularly given the Chiang Mai heat.

Good value for the money and quiet location”
this was just the place i needed for my stay in chiang mai: a condo-style place not too far from the city center that's also quiet and peaceful. the place offers laundry service and there is also a nice cafe/bistro there that serves great breakfast. the staff are a little less friendly but helpful nonetheless. i was impressed that they allowed me to check in early. tour operators know the place so don't be concerned about being too isolated there.
