    “Enjoyable stay”

We spent a night at Onsen Tsuki no Yado Sara. The room was very clean & we were to get our toiletries after checking in. We took advantage of the private baths. We have to line up if the 2 baths are occupied. The dinner & breakfast were filling & the very polite wait staff explained what was served. As it was raining, we could not walk from the train station to the hotel. We had to ask the station staff where the shuttle pickup point was - opposite the station beside the tourist info office. There were 3 pickup up points. Line up at point A. Fare is ¥200/pax. Upon checkout at the hotel, we walked to the station as the sky was clear. Also, there was a ¥150/pax fee for the use of the hot baths. It's only a small sum, but I hate surprises when I get my final bill. It would have been better if I was informed of this upon checking in. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

“A Serene Escape with Exceptional Hospitality”

My stay at Hakone Yumoto Onsen Tsuki no Yado Sara was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I arrived, I was enveloped in a sense of tranquility, enhanced by the warm and attentive staff who went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. The hotel effortlessly blends traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern amenities. My room was immaculately clean, spacious, and thoughtfully designed, featuring a private onsen that allowed me to soak in complete privacy while enjoying the calming natural surroundings. The attention to detail, from the yukata provided to the carefully curated room amenities, was impeccable. One of the highlights was the kaiseki dinner. Each dish was a work of art, showcasing the freshest seasonal ingredients and an incredible depth of flavor. Breakfast was equally delightful, offering a perfect Japanese breakfast to suit all tastes. The communal onsen facilities were also outstanding. The waters were rejuvenating, and the serene atmosphere made it easy to unwind after a day of exploring Hakone’s scenic beauty. The hotel’s location is convenient, just a short walk or shuttle ride from Hakone Yumoto Station, making it an excellent base for sightseeing. I also appreciated the small touches, such as the complimentary matcha and cookies, and the cozy lounge area with a selection of teas and snacks. These thoughtful gestures made the experience feel even more special. Overall, Hakone Yumoto Onsen Tsuki no Yado Sara exceeded my expectations in every way. Whether you’re seeking a romantic getaway, a relaxing retreat, or a cultural immersion, this hotel is an excellent choice. I can’t wait to return and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Hakone!

    “全てが最高でした‼︎”

The room was very spacious and comfortable, and it was great that each room had an open-air bath! There was also a massage chair, which helped relieve my fatigue. I was impressed by all the services, including having a private bath, being able to choose the types of shampoo in the large communal bath, the drink bar, and the services like ice cream and milk after the bath. My husband also said, "This is a nice place!" and was very happy! Both dinner and breakfast were delicious and beautifully presented, making them a feast for the eyes as well. The quantity was generous, and we were quite full. Because of the moon theme, I thought the dishware was very stylish, with moon-shaped designs. There was midnight soba available, but I was too full to try it, which was a bit disappointing... The ryokan had a traditional Japanese atmosphere, and the patterns on the lights in front of the elevator and in the hallway were quite cute! Next time, I definitely want to bring my daughter with me!

    “Peaceful beauty at Ryokan Sara”

My spouse and I spent an overnight stay at Sara and found the entire experience calm, relaxing, and delightful! First, the location is excellent: an easy walk from either the train station or the local K bus. The atmosphere of the small town is charming, and there are lots of shops to browse either before or after check-in. And the river!!! Facing that beautiful river at night, and being able to hear the sound of rushing water, helped us get a truly deep night's sleep. Having a private soaking tub in every room is SUCH a plus; I feel like I spent half the stay soaking my cares away. The water truly gets... therapeutically hot, you might say. Great for feet and legs that have done a lot of walking. We also tried the private baths, which are spacious and clean, but first-come first-served. (My recommendation to easily snag private bath time is to opt for the later dinner service, 8pm, and head for the baths while everyone else is enjoying an early dinner at 5:30pm!) Dinner and breakfast were both fabulous, with a great array of dishes (soups, steamed vegetables and shumai, pork belly and duck, fish cakes, tamagoyaki, DELICIOUS beef, and so much more). We left the table full, but not uncomfortably so, since it's a leisurely type of meal with lots of courses and time to relax and digest between them. And speaking as a Western tourist... if you really require Western-style food everywhere you go, this isn't your spot: try another hotel. But if you appreciate Japanese cuisine and you're excited about trying a wide range of local specialities, this is absolutely a gem! My husband is a chef and he found everything to be fresh, well-prepared, and thoughtfully presented. (There are also lots of small amenities throughout the building, like 24-hour hot drinks, a beer and wine and soft drink station, late-night ramen, etc... you could find something to eat and drink all through your stay!) All in all, this was a lovely experience. The staff were kind, even when we encounter

“The best accommodation, some staff members...”

The room is very good. It's perfect for bath lovers and offers quality beyond the price! However, the staff should provide a bit more explanation about the facilities during check-in. In particular, the male staff at the reception had an unpleasant attitude and kept the check-in guests waiting. He did not explain anything about the observation deck on the 6th floor, the morning coffee milk, ice cream, or the late-night soba. We had done some research beforehand, so we understood most of it, but it would have been kind to explain the late-night soba to the foreign guests, as they hardly came for it.
