Very good
I visited with my 5-year-old and 9-year-old children. My 5-year-old rode a snowboard for the first time in their life, and the course of the 4th lift right in front of the hotel was comfortable, allowing them to slide down a total of 7 times, even though it was their first time. The hotel's lockers, rental shop, and the flow of the slopes were excellent. Lift tickets for preschool children are free and can be used continuously for 10 days once issued. Moreover, the lift tickets for guests were very reasonably priced. The family-type room was very spacious, and the bathroom facilities were new and clean. What stood out the most was the exciting bunk bed. The kids were running around, playing hide and seek and pretending it was a secret base on the stairs. The jacuzzi, which you can enter in swimsuits, was also great. Unfortunately, it was closed due to heavy snow this time, but I definitely want to try the outdoor pool next time. The buffet dinner was delicious, especially the steak that the friendly chef grilled right in front of us. There were also many dishes that the kids wanted to eat. I definitely want to visit again. Thank you very much.
Staff, cleaning was and service is good. Location is excellent as ski in/out. Hotel is relatively old but well maintain. But the room decoration, facilities and arrangement is old and not as expected. May be I didn’t do enough research before booking. Overall is good if being a die hard ski fans and looking for good value of money.
Stayed here for 3 nights before moving to an AirBnB and we wish we never left. This hotel has almost everything you would want. The staff are great and helpful. They give significant discounts to guests for the attached ski lifts. Being a ski in/ski out hotel is extremely convenient with lockers issued to every room for the wet snow gear. The pool/spa/sauna areas are incredible with amazing views of the snow covered mountains. This being said, the breakfast buffet is terrible. And the price of the dinner is so excessive that we didn't even consider it. If this place had a simple cafe/restaurant attached or nearby for all 3 meals it would be perfect. If we did not have a rental car it would have been extremely inconvenient to eat.
Room The renovated five-person room was clean and comfortable. The size was also satisfactory. However, there was a pillar right in the middle of the room, which was quite obstructive when watching TV. Hot Spring The hot spring was pleasant, but towels were limited to one per day and additional ones cost extra. There was no water provided. I wish they could be more flexible about that. Breakfast Buffet Breakfast had seafood bowls every day, which were sufficient. There was a huge crowd during certain times. If they rearranged the layout and created two lines, it wouldn’t be so crowded. It seems there aren’t enough staff to improve the situation. The banquet hall was also crowded, and it was quite hot even in the middle of winter. Dinner Buffet Roast beef made from lamb and synthetic meat steaks. I enjoyed the taste until I heard it was synthetic meat. Skiing Directly connected to the ski resort, with lockers for ski equipment (with drying function) available, it couldn’t be more convenient. The snow quality was excellent!

“Good hotel right on the mountain, Hakuba Norikura Onsen Ski Resort”
I will start by stating the two main downsides: 1) there is very little eating options within walking distance. For dinner for instance, you are pretty much stuck with their dinner buffet which has a good wide variety of food (steak grilled on the spot, chicken, salads, soups, ice cream freezer, soft drink dispenser, rice, miso, and more), but it is ¥4,500 which adds up if you keep eating there. If you don’t have access to a car, you can use the night bus to go to nearby Tsugaike ski resort area for more restaurant options; this 5 min ride will cost ¥500 per person 2) The hotel is quite dated compared to hotels you will find in the city, you will feel this in the decor and the equipment in the room, and walking through the corridors in the evening can feel a bit like walking in a haunted house. I’m exaggerating a bit but just to give you an idea. In the morning there is a pleasant soft music in the corridors. This aside, I still rate the hotel relatively high for all of the following reasons: Room size (250-300 sq. ft) much larger than compact city hotels, plus ours had a cute tatami mat section complete with pillows to sit on the mats and a tea set on the table. For a skier or snowboarder, the ski locker is fantastic; booking a room in this hotel gives you access to a full size locker that can fit all of your ski equipment for at least one person (maybe more), and this, no matter how long your ski or snowboarder is, because there is a slit at the top of the locker to accommodate longer ski equipment. Super convenient at the end of your ski day, just drop off all your ski gear in your locker. Next, to relax after your day of skiing they have an onsen area (for men and women, respectively) to bathe in hit springs, sauna room, and amenities to shower before and after. It’s a nice to have and complimentary to the hotel room. In addition to the Onsen area (full naked only), there is the Aqua Oasis area complete with indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs and sauna (swimsuit wear). We stayed for two days here as a couple because I really wanted to ski at Hakuba Valley while my gf did not ski. If you do not plan to ski, this is not a hotel to stay at as there is very little to do in the vicinity unless you venture off to other neighbouring larger resorts areas (Tsugaike, Happo One…). If you ARE a skier, then I think it is very good for the reasons mentioned above. You are at Hakuba Norikura Onsen ski resort and have direct access via chairlifts to ski over to Hakuba Cortina, known to accumulate the most snow when it snows in the Hakuba area. I also rented ski gear, from the ARAI rental shop directly in the basement area of the hotel where the ski lockers are, for a complete rental set with skis, poles, boots, helmet, jackets and snow pants for a reasonable price (¥22,000, including the high performance ski package because I wanted pow skis, not carving skis which comes with the standard ski package). You can find all of their prices easily online here: https://www.a-msports.com/en/price.php#price To note: Snow goggles are not available for rent (probably since Covid), but they have some for sale at just under ¥5000 which I also bought. Overall, equipment quality was good (Dalbello ski boots, Rossignol Soul 7 HD skis highly rated online reviews, ski jacket and snow pants came neatly clean in a ski bag…in fact they looked brand new, robust ski helmet). Happy customer overall. As an aside, the hotel also has a small arcade, and a gift shop inside. Overall, I would go again to this hotel.
