Nice place but far away from everything”

It was a nice place to stay but the location is far away from everywhere - ski resorts and restaurants. We had to take taxi or paid shuttle bus (during limited hours) to go everywhere so it added up to the cost too. There was a small ski slope just mins away (appeared to me that it was a family friendly ski field) but we were after other Hakuba Ski resorts. I found rashes on my skin after the first night hence I requested to change new pillow and towels. It could be just me having sensitive skin, my husband was okay. They did not change towel daily, perhaps once in 3-4 days. When I requested to change towels, they provided to us. Staff were friendly but breakfast sometime were cold. The same staff will only start cooking (one plate per person with eggs, toast and sometime banana or french toast) when we went into the dining area but sometimes they had to serve many people hence the food were cold by the time they served it. The quantity they served was too little for my husband so we were not full after the two fried eggs on two toasts and very mini chicken sausage meal.

          Things I like
Location, Staff and large clean rooms

We had a fantastic 4 nights at the Hakuba Landmark Hotel. The room was large and comfortable, and there was a delicious hot breakfast provided every day. The location is about 50-100m from the gondola of Iwatake Ski Area so its practically ski in/out in the mornings. Whilst there isnt much nightlife in iwatake, the hotel is right over the road from the most awesome bar in Hakuba - the Hakuba Brewing Co. - which has the best (western style) food and a range of delicious local craft beers which they brew on site. You can easily get to Happo One in about 10 mins, or any of the other hakuba snowfields, using either the free shuttle or the paid hakuba valley bus service (¥500/day) from the bottom of iwatake gondola. Otherwise a taxi to Happo costs about ¥1600 each way. One thing that was a god-send for us was the free washing machine and drier provided for guest use in the basement, as by the time we arrived we'd been travelling for a month without doing laundry. Above everything else it was the staff at the Hakuba Landmark that made our stay so great. Tracey and Scott were amazing, warm and friendly hosts, always helpful with advice and suggestions of where to go and what to do.They even drove us to dinner in happo one night and dropped us at the train station on the day we left. Would not hesitate to stay here next time we're in hakuba or to recommend to anyone else happy to be slightly out of the happo party scene. Thanks for an awesome time!

          Lovely stay”

          Things I like
Right beside ski area, great service, clean room

I'm very impressed with the service by Tracy and Paul of Hakuba Landmark Iwatake Lodge! They are very thoughtful and nice to the customers, providing free pick-up to and from JR Hakuba Station, and even restaurants (provided we inform them early and they are free). Tracy is eager to introduce nice eating places or offer any advice, and Paul shares a lot of information about Hakuba. Though I did not manage to get a room with a nice snowy view (I guess it's the ONLY room with view blocked by a shed) I'm still very satisfied overall.
