This hotel in the bustling Old Quarter is a great spot for exploring the city, with Hoan Kiem Lake, St. Joseph's Cathedral, Dong Xuan Market, and beer street all nearby. The rooms are a good size and decent value, although some may show their age. The friendly staff, including manager Tommy, are very helpful and speak good English, happy to advise on local attractions and arrange transport. Guests appreciate the homely feel and free tea and coffee all day.

The staff of Hanoi La Castela are highly commendable! Sad that I can only remember one name, which is Rain, but all 3 staff who attended me were really attentive, helpful, and went extra mile in helping me also to navigate the old quarter, especially Rain, and the very cheerful lady with glasses! It's a really a plus that they can speak and understand english as well. As much as I want to try other hotels on my next visit, I might be going back here due to that reason alone. Their good service really gave me good impression on Hanoi as a first time Hanoi traveller. The location of the hotel is also great! Walking distance to all Old Quarter attractions, and the 2 rooms I stayed at were clean and quiet. I just hoped they extend the elevator up to 8th floor so that those with heavy luggage wont have a hard time checking in and out of the hotel. Nevertheless, my stay here is great and I highly recommend this place!
One of the best hotel we've ever stayed. 3 stars hotel with 5 stars services with very reasonable price. We stayed here for three nights and it was a really great time here. The person in charge who is also the owner Tommy was very helpful and extremely supportive, always welcomed us with a big smile, make us feeling home. Room facilities are good enough, clean, spacious enough with comfortable bed and pillow. The location is really good, just 2 mins walking distance to the St Joseph Cathedral Church, night market, lake and close to many famous and good food. Even though the hotel is close to many tourists spot, but no worries about getting a good sleep at night. Happening in the morning but quiet and peaceful after 10pm. The Halong Bay tour that we booked from Tommy was amazing too, hassle free without worrying got scammed. You can also book taxi transfer and many other tour from Tommy in reasonable price. Don't forget to ask Tommy for food recommendation, he definitely could recommend very good local food places (we had our best pho which recommended by Tommy). Definitely will choose to stay here again if we come to Hanoi next time.
My husband and I booked 2 rooms for 6 nights, one room for his sister and aunt, and the other one for us. The staff are very accommodating, helpful and happy to help us anytime we need assistance. The receptionists are also good in speaking english (special thanks to J, P, A and H). The chef is also kind and gives extra effort to make the food more presentable everytime we have our breakfast at the hotel. In between our stay, we went to have a tour in Sapa and they gave us take away snacks for our trip. On our day of checkout, they allowed us to stay at the lobby and dining area while we are waiting for our airport transfer, and even offered us some fruits and water. All four of us also enjoyed having conversations with the staff :) If we visit Vietnam again, we would love to return to La Castela and we would recommend this to our friends.

We stayed here for 3 nights and had a wonderful experience throughout. The room was impressively spacious and clean, perfect for a group of three. The king-sized bed alone was large enough to comfortably fit all of us — so you can imagine how restful our sleep was with the addition of a proper single bed! The hotel also provided complimentary bottled water and a full set of amenities, which made our stay that much more convenient and comfortable. On top of that, the service was top-notch. Kate, one of the staff members we interacted with both before and during our stay, was incredibly helpful. She knew it was our first time visiting and took the time to introduce us to the surrounding area, highlighting key attractions and great local food spots. The location itself was fantastic — centrally located with plenty of good cafes and restaurants within walking distance. Would absolutely recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a fuss-free, cozy stay with thoughtful service.
