As an India-born, with great attraction toward Tamil culture as one of the world's oldest cultures, Little India in Singapore is the best place to immerse myself with south Indian food and practice my Tamil. There are two metro stations: Jalan Basar and Rochar within two blocks and 24 hour restaurants around. To experience Singapore (all of it), I like this location. Hotel room is really small. Then again, it is common in Singapore. When I stayed at the Wanderlust next door which was lot more expensive, the room was even smaller.

Unbeatable Location”
Staff was friendly and accommodating, Room and common areas were always clean and smells fresh. Some minor issues we had were: we had a weak AC in our room so they transferred us to another floor, and the bathrooms are a tad small. I dont mind the room without a window but Ive already accepted that it comes with the price point. What wins me over every time I see any faults is the location. Close to the MRT (not one but two - Jalan Besar and Rochor) and the Bus Station. Central to spots like Sim Lim, Bugis, Kampong Glam, and Serangoon Road all 5-10 minutes leisurely walk. Plus a lot of nice places to eat or drink nearby. I will miss the late night prathas and lassis at the nearby Indian restaurants.

Suggested location for tourists especially first timers”
The spot is very accessible to MRT and Bus Stations, it is near Mustafa, Bugis, Little India, Arab Street (Haji Lane & Sultan Mosque). I also like the facilities so far, the room is spacious and the view from the hotel is very good. The value for money is about right as well. This is my 3rd time in SG and the first time I booked a hotel, all worth it. There is also a Hotel 81 nearby though it's called Hotel 81-Rochor, I recommend the location of Dickson.

Hotel is near to MRT station (Rochor and Jalan Besar) Little India is very near to this hotel so vegitarian food is easily available. Hotel is perfectly located, clean and family friendly.

Hotel Dickson is a great hotel for its price. Situated just walking distance from two stations of the downtown line going different directions (Rochor and Jalan Besar). This is helpful in travelling around the city. The location is also surrounded by value stores, hawkers, and food shops. It's also walking distance from Sim Lim and Bugis. The staff was really nice and accomodating. Overall, my five day stay was really good. They clean the room, change the towels, gives drinking water and coffee everyday.

Surprisingly good value for a 2 star hotel. ”
Hi guys, I ended up here due to missing my flight, had to stay the night. Considering this is classed as a 2 star hotel it is actually as good as if not better than 3 stars. The staff are professional and provide lots of assistance, like giving directions, ordering taxis, holding your luggage after checkout. Its location is in little india which is perfect for me as I love the food! Thank you very much guys, I hope to stay again.

Basic Hotel with Everything You Need and Nothing You Don't”
I picked Hotel 81 Dickson, as it was cheap, and mid point between two conference venues, on a main MRT line. It turned out to be in the bustle of Little India, which is good. Just make sure you select a room with "city views" if you want a window (and ask for a a fridge, if you want that). Staff were helpful, providing an iron and ironing board very promptly, for my conference clothes. The room was cleaned daily, with plenty of fresh towels. Great view overlooking the old shop-houses, from my window.
