“Comfortable stay & value for money”

Hotel is located 15+ min walk from the Togendai station or one could take Tozan bus from Togendai or Hakone Yumoto and alight near hotel (minami-onsen stop). No shops or eating places nearby so be sure to pack food, eat out or enquire about meals package with hotel before checking in. As tozan buses end operation early so its tough eating out if you dont drive. Luckily hotel staff helped us arrange for a restaurant to ferry us to/fro the restaurant for our dinner. There's a microwave placed at basement for heating up food too. The room we got was spacious n clean but the chair uphostery needed repairs. We love the availability of public and private baths. Buffet breakfast included both japanese and continental selection.

    “Excellent”

Perfect for couples as it is very quite around. Can have a peaceful stay and relax in their private onsens. We expected a view of mt fuji but was very foggy. As it is in a remote area the staffs dont know english . Only negative about this property Its very far and offers only bus connectivity. And no shops or supermarkets for long long distances . So if vegetarians going here carry your stuff. As cant depend only on the in-house restaurant. Hakone free pass is a must if you stay in hakone. Covers all types of transport .

    “Hotel in Hakone ”

This is the second time I stayed in Hakone but first time in this hotel. To be honest, they mentioned it is only 5-10mins walk away from Togendai station, I highly doubt it, the bus would be still the best choice to reach there. The weather was very cold at -8 to -12 degree when we were there, as the hotel was located in an area which is quite deserted, the only way to get to nearest convenience store was by bus and it take around 10-20mins to reach. Be prepared to bring more foods before you go. The good part about this hotel is their staff, super helpful on whatever we asked, the breakfast was good too and the onsen as well, they have private onsen rooms for usage which you can use for free if you don't like to share the public onsen with others. One last thing, as it was not very centrally located, the place look quite empty, some of the places we walked to seems quite eerie, try not to think so much when u walk around the area.

Renovated Room with Tatami Area and Garden View - Non-Smoking

“A hotel with history that is committed to transformation.”

The Hanagetsuen Hotel we chose the day before our departure. We were placed in a room that had been renovated since the start of the Reiwa era, and it was fantastic. After traveling along a winding road for quite a while, we arrived at the hotel in the evening, and when we opened the curtains in the morning and caught a glimpse of Mount Fuji and Lake Ashi, it made us truly feel like we were in Hakone. For that reason, we had to decide whether to reserve dinner at the hotel or eat somewhere else, as there were no restaurants at all nearby. We, feeling carefree, found ourselves in a bind for dinner and ended up driving for 20 minutes at night to a Seven-Eleven near Hakone Shrine where we had oden and rice balls in front of the dark Lake Ashi in our car. While that sounds like a nice memory, it’s best to be properly prepared. The large public bathing area of the hot springs was semi-circular and reminiscent of Greek baths from Thermae Romae. There were also four individual baths in a separate floor with locked doors, featuring hot springs with different water qualities, allowing us to enjoy two types of spaces and baths. The breakfast buffet was also diverse and very satisfying. I heard that in early summer, azaleas bloom all around the hotel, so I would like to visit again during that time.

    “Overview”

It is a hotel with a very private location. If you don't have a car, it seems inconvenient to travel, but if you have a private car, it is not a problem at all. The location is very close to Ho Wa Gudani; you can drive up there or take the cable car since all stations are nearby. The rooms are quite old but clean, and the important thing is that there is a free onsen to soak in, as well as four private onsens available. If any room is vacant, you can use it right away (note that there is a bath tax when paying). This is excellent. The breakfast is okay.
