It is is what you expect from a five star hotel. Nice service, kind staff, everything clean ... of course it is not cheap, but it is worth. Just nearby the legendary Mandarin, in front of Peninsula, it is located on the river, in the nicest spot. You can easily walk to the catholic college of Assumption, get a taxi for the commercial centers or use the free shuttle to go to the night market.

I've stayed at 5-star hotels on several continents, often costing two or three times as much, but none has come close to the attention to detail, the personal kindness, or concern for guests' well-being on display. When my wife needed a nurse to attend to an infection, the manager of the hotel himself accompanied her to our room, made arrangements for us to go to a nearby hospital, and called on our return to be sure that she had received effective treatment. In the magnificent rooftop bar overlooking the city and the barge- and cruise-boat traffic on a wide bend of the Chao Praya River, it quickly became apparent that all the staff knew your name, and anticipated your every wish. The rooftop restaurant was pricey, but the food was as close to heavenly as it gets. And if you wanted something more mundane, the cluster of restaurants around the hotel pier could muster up a meal to suit every taste. It's the best of both worlds in this self-enclosed resort at the heat of a great city.

Great genuine 5 star hotel. We booked the 2 bedroom suite with river views. It's a nice big room and the view is very good. So much going happening on the river you could enjoy watching it for hours. The staff in the hotel are very well trained and know what a 5 star hotel should be like. The head chef (could be Australian) was at both dinner and breakfast for the buffet and I can say it's one of the best around. Location wise it's nice to not be on a busy road in Bangkok and be able to be out on the balcony and hear yourself think. The hotel has a ferry service to the next closest BTS station which makes it easy to get to anywhere you want or just take a metre taxi which are very cheap in Bangkok.

This hotel was AMAZING, the best hotel experience I've ever had. We booked this for a 30th birthday celebration and specifically wanted this hotel mainly for the rooftop bar/restaurant and the incredible balconies. I had seen this on the Hangover movie and I'd spent months stalking them on instagram and by the time we came to depart I was worried that I had built it up too much and it was going to be a let down. I was SO wrong. From the second we stepped out of the car on arrival we were treated like VIP's, the staff were so incredibly lovely, they went above and beyond to ensure we had the best time, they sent me a total of THREE birthday cakes in our 5 day stay, and one of them was brought to us at our dinner at sirocco by about 5 staff all enthusiastically singing happy birthday. The location is perfect, the views are some of the best I've ever seen (upgrade to tower club river view TRUST ME) and the staff are ALL incredible. We would never stay any where else in Bangkok!

This hotel is something difficult to describe. The hotel is amazing, really really beautiful, 5 stars and plus, but mmmm, for Bangkok really can be better. We book a club room and was ok, I mean, is 5 stars and all amazing you want, but the club is not the best in town, the room is not the best in town, the location is not too good, and is not cheap specially the restaurants and bar in roof, but you can say “yes, is amazing anyway”. Like I say, is difficult to explain, is good but not enough for the price, that’s the point. Anyway if find a good price & promotion, will come back yes or yes, but if too expensive, I will choose another. Also, the hotel should have different elevators for hotel guests and visitors to the sky bar. In night is almost impossible to take the elevator because have hundreds of people doing line to go to the roof.

Centre Point Silom is located in an area which is less touristy, so my wife and I had the opportunity to mingle closely with the locals and sample the interesting foods around the area. It is also well accessible by BTS (Saphan Taksin Station) and river ferry (Sathorn Pier), so it is easily connected to the main shopping areas of Soi Lalai Sap, Siam Square (MBK, Siam Paragon, Central World, Pratunam), Sukhumvit and Asiatique. As for tourist attractions, there is plenty to see around the area. Along Charoen Krung Road, there are interesting antique shops, eating places, historical sites (Bangkokian Museum, old buildings around Oriental Hotel) and religious buildings (Assumption Cathedral, mosques). Importantly, the rooms are big, so the stay was very comfortable. The toilets are also huge and clean. The downside is that Robinson Bangrak (same building) is closed while we were there (Aug '13). If not, it will be even more convenient in terms of finding food and getting necessities.

Overall, the stay was as expected of Hilton standards. The warmest staff there are probably the boat shuttle personnel, and doormen. The others are rather cold and a little too impersonal. The worst is probably the 'breakfast door-lady' who never fail to embarrass my wife and I for two days. Perhaps it was my mistake to have made an error during my online booking to indicate only 1 person. Despite being assured during check-in that I can just walk in and the extra will be charged accordingly, I am still subjected to a 5 minutes questioning and further checking in the systems. But I suspect she does not understand my request "Please charge to my room". So, be extra careful when doing the booking, otherwise you would be harassed. Anyway, the breakfast is plain, at best, for a 5-star hotel. Although far, the hotel's boat shuttle makes it up. It is convenient, safe, regular, FOC and connects you almost directly to the BTS (Saphan Taksin) and the river express central jetty. Another public ferry (6 Bahts return) connects you nearer to Chinatown. For the adventurous, do visit the market directly beside the hotel for good authentic Thai food.

The Royal Orchid is mine (and my partners) hotel of choice in Bangkok primarily due to its location but also as it is a nice hotel to stay. Every room has a view of the river and the view only gets better the higher up you go. The staff are always very friendly and courteous whereby nothing is too much trouble. You can dine right on the edge of the river or inside at one of the many restaurants depending on your choice. The buffet food is nice but somewhat expensive but show me a 5 star hotel where it isn't. One of the true beauties of this hotel is the location. Yes you are right on the Chao Praya River as are many hotels. However, you have a river boat pier right next door so catching one of the many ferries up and down the river couldn't be easier. You also have the free shuttle boat down to the closest train station. And if you feel so inclined. the dinner boat cruises depart next door on the other side. Additionally, China Town is either a one stop ferry ride or a pleasant walk away. I have stayed here a number of times and will continue to do so when transiting through Bangkok.

I highly recommend Naga Residence. The place is very clean and it has great security. You have to access an automated sliding glass door first using your room key card before you enter the hotel's elevator. So you feel very safe. The lobby also has free cookies, juice, water and computer for the customers to use. Their wifi connection is also very strong. The room is spacious and the hotel location is perfect because there are a lot of food places to choose from around the area. It is near 7/11, a mall, walking distance to the pier if you want to ride a boat to cross the other side of the river where the temples are located. I would like to personally commend the supervisor, Mr. Marlon for helping us with our accommodation and itineraries. He is also Filipino like me so he really helped me a lot in contacting my merchants with our itineraries and bookings since he knows how to speak in Thai, he helped me with the translation. :) He really went above and beyond until our last day in Thailand because he also helped us in getting a ride to the airport. He really has great customer service. The guard named Umporn is very friendly and helpful as well. Also, I left my pair of earrings in our room and the housekeeping staff turned it over to their front desk. I really appreciate their honesty. For those who are planning to go to Bangkok, I recommend Naga Residence. It's the perfect place to stay in Thailand! :)

The Oriental is a classic old world river hotel. While some may say the place is a bit tired with older elevators, rooms and style that hasn't really changed for decades, it's probably still worth it. The thing that makes the Oriental special is the life that passes through. The hotel still has people sitting for tea, eating in the well-known restaurants, enjoying Jazz in the Bambu room, or just hanging out in the lobby. The service is best in class, and you will feel at home and have every need attended to. It is easy to access the Skytrain (BTS) at Saphan Taksin and also pick up a boat from the dock anywhere. The spa across the river is indulgent if you don't care about the price tag. If you want to be on the city side of the river in a classic best in class luxury, and still feel like you are in the scene of a 1960s movie, you can't really replace the Oriental. There are newer over the top hotels that are most beautiful, more extravagent, but none with the same activity that you find at the Oriental. If you want privacy and exclusivity, then there are other options better. But, i do love this hotel and there is something truly Bangkok about it. This is the only top end hotel at the river that can work if you need to go into central.

When my boyfriend and I were planning to book a Hotel in Bangkok, I wanted to have a tub in our room with reasonable prize, since it was our first night we wanted it to be amazing. I found this hotel and was won over its photos of the rooms and was transpired in person, which we were very contented. Upon arrival the FO was very welcoming and helpful, it didnt took us long to wait for the check in procedure and was assisted to our room after 5mins. We booked their Executive Deluxe and it was one of the best rooms. The tub was built for two, best for honeymooners, the bed is big and all the amenities are personalize which makes you feel like you're in a luxurious hotel. Location wise, its very quiet with a lot of street food, which their street is known for, aside from being the oldest roads in Bangkok (a good history), It's a good 5-8mins walk to Asiatique, where you can enjoy night shopping and mid-high level restaurants, before reaching Asiatique, you can pay a visit in a nearby temple for a little sightseeing. You can also save money and time by getting on the boat since its nearby Chao Praya river. Kudos to everyone and I hope to see you all again!

The hotel is located in the historical area of Bangkok (Banglamphu) where you can find lots of delicious foods and travel attractions around (very close to Khaosan, Phra Athit Pier and the Grand Palace). I was there with my partners with the double room (River View). We could see the Rama VIII bridge from the room. Facility in the room are all very good. The only thing that almost disappoint us was the lady at the hotel gave us the wrong room at the very first time. We need to show them the booking confirmation that we paid for the river view room. She changed the room for us. At the lower floor of the hotel, there is bar and restaurant where you can eat, drink and see the view of Chaopraya River together. Beverages are at reasonable price. I would recommend if you would like to take a break in Bangkok for this hotel

We stayed in late February & since we send very little time (actually none) sitting on a balcony looking at the view we took the "Serene Corner" @ $60. Leaving the airport after 1am with directions in Thai the driver had to be encouraged to turn on the meter & still took a tour, actually getting himself confused by his meandering. The fare was 410 baht. Going back to the airport at 4am we found many taxis cruising the area, about half of whom are unwilling to meter. Just wait 30 seconds & somebody else will come by. Fare back was 250 baht. The hotel was shiny and new and contrary to some we found the staff friendly & helpful at all times, even for post midnight problems (broken drinking glass & stopped up toilet). They were out of bed & up yo help in minutes. The room was fairly small but not cramped. The restaurant was very good. As a side, after about 5 days I decided a big greasy American hamburger would be good & to my amazement the restaurant had one. It was bar none the best I ever had & the fries were competitive with the best. My cardiologist would not approve of how they made it so good however so I stuck primarily with Thai fare. Many backpackers also ate here while staying at lesser nearby hotels. As one told me he had noticed that in Thailand bad restaurants are cheap and the really good places are not much more. The express boats take you to everything along the river for 13 baht, less than, $.40 US but stop running at 7:30.

Our first time at this hotel and was a pleasure to stay here. Reception staff and overall general staff was excellent. A huge thank you to Phat and his team for their service and excellence. Hotel pool was a treat to be enjoyed in the baking heat of Thailand. Not very deep but sufficient with a children’s pool too. Children’s swimming lessons take place in the morning on certain days and they make a lot of noise so best to have a room away from the ground floor of the pool. There is a local market outside the hotel on the left and a convinience store (7/11) at the end of the market on the left hand side. You can take the local ferry across the river located down the road when you turn right outside the hotel. Breakfast was fantastic. A simple but filling varity of different hot dishes and cold. They make fresh eggs in any way for you every morning. Anyone who may be diabetic, Be warned the orange juice and other juices are incredibly sweet!

Really liked this place, we stayed here for 3 nights when we arrived in Bangkok and 1 night before we left, obviously its not luxury for the price, rooms are basic but clean and beds are comfortable. Staff we're friendly and helpful. Wifi worked but you had to continually keep signing in as it would constantly kick you off. Its a 5/10min walk to food, bars & amenities and about 15 mins walk to Khao San Road and probably the quietest you will get in this part of town also only a 20 min walk to The Grand Palace. The pool was nice and clean, breakfast was the best hotel breakfast we had in Thailand! The breakfast terrace looks out onto the river which is very nice and right next to the water taxi docks. Try to request a room in the middle of the hotel so your not looking out on the road, its a bit noisy but didn't really stop us sleeping. When leaving walk 1 min down the road and a meter taxi will pick you up in no time, the taxi drivers waiting outside that reception will direct you to will try to offer you inflated fixed prices and refuse meter.

This is a relatively new hotel, thus, some drivers will find difficulty finding the place. That is the only disadvantage of this hotel. Otherwise, the staff were just excellent! The hotel interior was pretty creative, i believe its a restored shop house. They have a beautiful restaurant below, where you can have dinner overlooking the Chao Praya river and the Grand Temple.. such beautiful views during the night.. !!! Breakfast served was a feast, and very tasty! Even the General Manager would come by to say hello. Great personalised service from all the staff there really! Location wise i wouldnt say its the best, but its very near the Grand Temple if you wanna do sight seeing. I also wouldnt recommend stay here for families with Children as there are no elevators in the hotel, only a spiral staircase. Its a great hotel for singles, and couples who want something different. Overall, i had a great stay in the hotel because of the staff ! I would come back to stay again!

Another last-minute booking during our trip (agoda has been great for that), we were so happy with everything at this beautiful little hotel. Great location. Clean, comfortable room. Delicious breakfast. Best was the service – the staff was just so welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. We took local boat to temples, but property is also close to doc for tourist boat. Wish we had more time here.

my wife and I booked the hotel for 3 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. after we arrived we were shown an upstairs room. I told the mgr. that my wife has a condition that causes her to lose her balance and the stairs, with no rail, would be too dangerous for her. I then reminded the mgr that we had booked the black room, on the first floor. she brought the owner to talk to us and I repeated what I had told the mgr. the owner, Cee, said that agoda does not tell them which room was requested only that a room was requested. I looked up our online booking and saw that the rooms were described but not linked to a color and all the rooms are defined by their color. Cee then said that another thai couple had booked the black room for two nights and he could give us one night in it and the 2nd night in another room, then the 3rd night back in the first room but he would talk to the other man and see what he could do. when we came out for supper Cee told us that the other man said we could have the room all 3 nights. Thainess at it's best! everything about our stay was wonderful from the staff to the food to the quirky uniqueness of the room. we felt like honored guests in someone's home and not customers in a hotel. if you want a particular room i suggest you go to the Loy Lalong website and book directly.

This is a beautiful hotel. Although it might not be a 4 star hotel on any lists, it seems like a 4 or 5 star hotel disguised as a 3 star. It has very large rooms, with king size beds. The carpets and interior of the rooms are so clean, with beautiful art deco present in every room and hallway. It has a strong emphasis on the artistic side of decor. My room had a beautiful view of the city, for miles and miles. As a building, it is not among many tall buildings; this one just suddenly appears among a standard local culture district, with standard Thai food shops along the street. But only a few blocks away is a very big restaurant and shopping area called Asiatica, which is like a truly international food court. Asiatica reminded me of restaurant and shopping areas in California! Same kinds of great breweries, restaurants and establishments, including a French restaurant and many affordable Thai restaurants. Room comes with refrigerator, and various amenities. Above all, the room is huge, and a beautiful clean white with art on the walls and a TV ready to go. Great climate control. Room did not come with free breakfast, but apparently, some do. Very fast and easy check in. I happened to be there for their Festival of Lights religious holiday and so this Asiatica shopping area and the street Tongtara is on were truly packed with people. Taxi driver and hotel staff reassured me it is not always like this!! But this is a beautiful hotel, which not only has huge rooms, a sense of art and large beds. It seems to be a 4 or 5 star hotel disguised as a 3 star hotel in a 3 star area!!

Pros Free Handy Smart phone! Gosh, why don’t more international hotels offer this?! It was a smart phone that is free to use! Saved our butt quite a few times finding directions, contacting tours and contacting home. Nice looking hotel. Very clean and modern looking. Check in was pretty easy. Gave us a very nice dossier with all information. Gave us a place to store our luggage until our room was ready. Nice coffee shop, restaurant and rooftop bar that all had a great scenic view of the river. We had the small room, but it was nice with a stocked mini fridge and basket of snacks. Bottled water was free and everything else had a small price. Staff was helpful and booked us a 6 am taxi to the airport. Cons Poor WiFi. We don’t get international cell plans, so we rely on WiFi. You get only 3 WiFi logins per room. We both have 3 devices each, so we had to choose what we connected and didn’t. It also disconnected every time you left the hotel, so you had to log back in every time. It was quite slow as well, no streaming and very long download times. The Handy phone made up for some of this, but not all of it. Seemed to be on the “wrong” side of the river from everything we were wanting to do/main area. You have to take a ferry or a long and expensive taxi. There are markets and restaurants within walking distance. Additional info The check out process was different from all other hotels we’ve stayed in. We had a 6 am taxi to get to the airport so we went to the lobby shortly before 6 thinking we would just need to turn in our key. They needed to walk through the room with us, evaluate was was taken from the mini fridge and settle our tabs. Not really a con, just different so schedule in more time than usual for check out.

Service provide by all staff was on par with the best hotels in Hong Kong. They did so much to make me comfortable and enjoy my stay. I loved the room, decor, river view and how well the housekeeping staff took care of me and did the best job ever making my room comfortable. They all genuinely wanted me to enjoy my stay. In fact I had just returned at 3 PM and the front desk called to let me know they were serving tea - outstanding service and delicious tea. The view of the river is peaceful and part of the experience. Important Note: the location is not curbside to easy in and out taxi service. Getting to the hotel involves a walk through a neighborhood and a good sense of direction. The staff do all possible to mitigate this aspect, and many people stay there just because of the feeling of remoteness. Highly recommend this hotel.

Praya Palazzo Hotel is situated across mainland Bangkok, away from the hustle and bustle of the city and this is what I like the best. It has a colonial style architecture and is simply a stunning place to stay for any relaxing holiday getaway. The only mode of transportation to the hotel would be via the boat. The hotel has it's own boat to fetch their customers from the pier. All you need to do is to give them a call from the pier and they will arrange a boat to pick you up shortly and it will only take 5 minutes to reach the hotel. Besides the unique location, I would also like to compliment on their excellent customer service that makes our stay more enjoyable. It's always nice to see someone waiting for you with your room keys when they know that you are reaching the hotel. When we came back to our room on our first night, it's really comforting to see that someone has already make our bed and has even turned on the air-condition for us. In order for us to contact them for whatever issues when we are at mainland Bangkok, the staff even arranged a mobile phone to us for free. Another thing worth mentioning is the breakfast. It's not like those international buffet breakfast from any other hotels. Breakfast is served from their restaurant and all you need is to order from the menu and it will be served to shortly. It's definitely a star hotel and I would rate it 10 points and beyond if I could.

A lifelong friend and I are traveling Thailand. The Swan Hotel is wonderful. It is not a new hotel but deserves 5 stars. The room is very basic but comforatable. The pool is fantastic and beautiful. The staff is the best. Always there to help you. Breakfast and lunch is very good with wonderful quick service. I will always stay here when I return. Thank You---Patricia Smith---Florida USA

Whether you’re a solo traveller, couple, or family - this place is absolutely amazing! From the moment you lay eyes on this aesthetically pleasing quaint boutique hotel - you will be in love! Talakkia is a hidden gem (literally, down a secure back alley), just a ten minute walk from Chinatown. The staff were exceptional, the food moderately priced and delicious, and the room superbly clean with everything you need - and not to mention the unique, modern-industrial chic decor, so cute! Would stay here a million times more if I could have the chance to! Handy mini bar with snacks and drinks to purchase, tiny (but wonderfully relaxing) outside pool and spa/reading/relaxing area, elevator, and ice cream are just a few of the other great perks! Side note - needed a quick shower after checking out and leaving for the day, staff easily let my partner and I come in, rent a towel, and shower up before a long night train ride (appreciate this so much!) - Talakkia, one of the best stays EVER.
