"Stayed in 1 of 16 bed dormitory, they didn’t let me check-in early BUT they let me leave my belongings in a room by the front desk so I could venture out without all my crap. It is by far one of the most clean hostels I’ve ever stayed in, they had people cleaning what felt like every hour throughout the day. The showers and toilets don’t smell weird. The aircon definitely works, so on hot day you’re good- just be careful because extreme differences in temperature can cause a cold. The sheets were clean and the blanket was warm & fluffy. There’s plenty of room under the bed for your stuff and a locker, a shelf, a light and outlet next to the bed so it’s all super convenient. The staff was always super helpful. There’s a washing machine on the highest floor for 40 baht a cycle, and drying racks provided. The complimentary breakfast is great for being free; hard boiled eggs, toast, salad with fresh fruits and veggies, coffee or tea and yummy euro cakes! I loved this place!"

"We were pleasantly surprised with our stay here. The hotel is located in the Old City and close to a number of very interesting temples. As others pointed out, the bathrooms could use an upgrade but the hotel is clean, the beds comfortable, a large flat screen television with many English speaking channels. The Wi-Fi worked excellent in our room and everywhere in hotel. And did I mention they have a great little pool for cooling off after a hot day hiking around town? The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The front desk helped us book a trip to Chiang Rai and everything worked out great. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. You will be hard pressed to find a better value for the money. I'd also recommend booking your hotel with the included breakfast. The breakfast has a good selection of both western and Asian items and you could even get omelets or eggs cooked to order. Coffee, tea, juice, toast and a good selection of fresh fruits were also available. Next trip to Chiang Mai I won't need to research a place to stay, I'll be staying here."

"Gord Nuea is located near the intersection at the center of Sunday Night Market. Very clean facilities. Friendly and helpful owner, helped us to book a last minute tour to Doi Sunthep without any commission. Also, lend me a travel adapter without and deposit or fees. Special mention for the lady who prepared us lovely breakfast which I rate higher than the breakfast service at another nearby 4 stars Hotel. Stayed for 1 night and changed to a different hotel for another 2 nights, regreted that, should have stayed here for 3 nights. Definitely I'm coming back to Gord Nuea in my future Chiang Mai visit. "

"Luckily i was here with my partner otherwise i would’ve had a different thought in this hostel. We absolutely loved the cooking class (Saturday was pad Thai night) in the front courtyard. It was delicious and so much fun to cook! The following morning they offered free yoga also in the courtyard (Mat provided). It was a great class & im so appreciative of the perks. In addition, breakfast was great & accommodating! For the negatives: People keep to themselves & i felt awkward talking, even in the common areas. After attempting to chit chat with fellow travelers, i got the weird vibes that people just wanted to be left alone. We got back to the hostel around 10:15pm & my entire room was asleep! The entire hostel pretty much goes to sleep at 10 & you’re left sitting in the common area reading a book. But i realized why everyone goes to sleep early... i was woken up (i was in room B) by the bass of the jazz music they blast in the common area.. AT 7am. No it’s not one of those you can sleep through, it’s booming through the walls. The beds are comfortable & i slept very well but you have to be kidding me. I woke up agitated & instead of staying another night, we decided to leave. Great for the free cooking & yoga class. Poorly rated for the lack of socializing & consideration."

"Very clean, rooms cleaned once a day. Pool was excellent and we used daily. We loved the staff who were super helpful and attentive to our one year old daughter. They always let us know where to get the best deal, or get a good meal. We ended up extending our stay here, after walking around town looking for another place...we couldn't find a better deal for such a nice space! We loved the Blind Coffee, which was so close by! The Hotel also included a "complimentary snack" in the morning, including toast with butter and jam, a few cereal selections with milk, and juice. Two medium-size bottles of water were also included for each day of stay. We enjoyed staying in this area. We were only a ten minute walk to the city park (nong buak hard city park), where our one-year old played many times, and it was a much quieter area. We were also only a 5 minute walk to the Sunday market walking street, which on normal days has a great selection of restaurants. "

"I worried about security before since the room was on ground floor with only a simple hotel room lock. However, I found that was safe and so peaceful when looking at the grassland in the middle of the hotel. That is like different world once you step in the gate from the city outside to that peaceful garden. - Good location - Just next block to the Sunday market (we think that is the best night market, a collection of all night market since we saw the same store and person who worked in Think Park turning up in Sunday market) - There is a 7-11 on the same street, about 5 to 10 mins walking away to the east towards the inner part of old city - 10 min tuk-tuk (50 baht for 2 people) to go to the closest shopping centre - Kadsuankaew Shopping Centre, which has a supermarket at the basement (we took red car returning to hotel for 20 each with promised first stop but taking longer time to wait for gathering more passengers :( ) - close to airport - very helpful and friendly staff, as well as the lady sitting at the desk in the lobby who assists arranging local tours (she can also assist booking for spa or massage) - able to assist renting a motorbike - they printed hotel address in thai and ready to give out anytime!! - i got early flight at 6am and the staff helped me to arrange transportation (call their driver to give a ride to us for 350 baht, but they would pack breakfast for us - a banana, a cup of yogurt, a sandwhich, an orange) - an about 5 inch long lizard was found at the ceiling of the room. I was personally fine but not wanna scare my girlfriend and tried very hard to drive that away to the entrance (not sure if that is the reason my room has no mosquito :P ) - floor in bathroom was wet when we firstly got into the room - one bottle of water per day per person - prepare your own slipper if necessary, theirs seems not very clean - very good wifi connectivity"
