"A regular visitor to Thailand I stayed in the excellent Ambassador Hotel on Soi 11off Sukhumvit this time. I say excellent because the standard is exactly how a €40+ per night 4 star in Bangkok should be.The Ambassador is a big property with many amenities. The reception area is huge and the staff are friendly and efficient. My luggage was taken from the Taxi and appeared in my room within minutes of me entering my room. The initial impression you get when you walk in to the reception area is 5 star but the rooms put it firmly back in the second division. They are not bad but quite basic. Everything works and at this price you can't ask for more. The WiFi is free and strong but does require constant re-entering of passwords which is annoying at first but you get used to it. Room cleaning is efficient and flexible. Long low timber ceiling corridors give it a kind of old cruise liner feel. Restaurants, Bars, Massage studio, Gym, Tailoring shops, health spa and several coffee shops are among it's many features. And of course that great location close to everything. Some of the best restaurants in Bangkok are here. The very expensive but superb El Gaucho Steakhouse, one of 2 in the area, is right next door. For Mexican try the Coyote across the road. And round the corner the Firehouse serves the best burgers in Bangkok. An Aussie Bar also across the road serves up the traditional full breakfast. I would recommend the Ambassador as a budget hotel without hesitation. "

"I fairly enjoyed my stay in this hotel as I like busy areas and the "fun" lifestyle. I don't necessarily mean drinking and girls, I mean just enjoyment out of the fact to see everyone is having a good time. Of course if you're looking for drinking and girls I'd say this is one area you'd find it. The Sois can be very smelly and dirty, so if you're looking for total relaxation with spas and great views, this place is not for you. There is everything you need nearby from this hotel, shopping right around the corner on Sukhumvit road if you enjoy bargaining, also a supermarket nearby that will also serve cafe style food (although I can't say the food is great there). The hotel is at a very manageable walking distance to the Nana BTS station, however if you do go during the hottest months like I did, even that short distance can take it's toll on you. So do take advantage of the free taxi service that drops you off right at the stairs to the Nana BTS station. The rooms are very new and very clean, however they are on the small side, I didn't mind that at all, as all I wanted the hotel for is a place to sleep. Speaking of sleeping, the beds aren't very soft, while they aren't rock solid, they are on the hard side, so make sure you don't mind a firmer bed. They do charge quite a lot for the internet, 100baht per hour, which is a lot of money considering all the internet cafes around are 1baht per min. I did use the internet anyways because I needed the comfort of the using the net from my room, the net fortunately was quite a fast connection. Overall nice new hotel in a convenient location, just don't stay here if you're after 5 star relaxation hotel."

"BEST THING REGARDING THIS HOTEL IS ITS LOCATION. 2 MINS WALK TO NANA STATION AND 3 MINS WALK TO NIGHT. ONE WEIRD THING I NOTICED THAT, I STAYED THERE FOR 4 NIGHTS. IN ALL 4 NIGHTS I HAD ROOM SERVICE EVERYDAY-BUT THEY NEVER CHANGED THE SHEETS. THEY JUST MADE THE BED WITH THE SAME SHEETS. I FOUND IT REALLY WEIRD. THEY DID CHANGE THE TOWELS EVERYDAY THOUGH. I NOTICED THAT ON MY LAST DAY OF STAY BUT DID NOT WANT TO MAKE A COMPLAINT BECAUSE I HAD TO LEAVE EARLY FOR MY FLIGHT. ANOTHER SMALL WEIRD THING WAS THAT THEY DID NOT PUT A NEW SOAP AFTER ROOM SERVICE. 1 SMALL SOAP ON THE FIRST DAY I USED WAS NEVER REFILLED/REPLACED. CONSIDER THIS HOTEL GOOD 3.5 STAR HOTEL WITH GREAT LOCATION. THERE IS MCDONALD'S ON THE MAIN FLOOR AND SMALL SHOPPING CENTER AS WELL. YOU CAN ALSO FIND LAUNDRY, GREOCERY STORE, ARABIC RESTAURANT AND PREPAID CELL PHONE SHOPS WITHIN A MINUTE OR TWO. ALL AND ALL GOOD EXPERIENCE BUT IF I REBOOK THIS HOTEL, I WILL ASK THE FRONT DESK TO CHANGE THE SHEETS EVERYDAY."

"We had amazing experience during our stay in the hotel. I booked last minute room for my beloved wife to celebrate her birthday & I couldnt get view that facing main road on our first day. Staff Ellie did extra miles by showing us another room on that day but it was lower floor so we decided to just remain our room which facing another building. But Ellie did not forget about us, the next day, she called & had change our room which facing main road on the 19th floor! What amazing effort ! We love Ellie so much! We reached hotel at night & when we entered our new room, theres a cake & welcoming Happy Birthday on the bed! My wife so happy & nothing bring me happier than to see my wife happiness. Like they said “Happy wife Happy life!”! I would recommend Novotel Sukhumvit to my other friends not just because the hotel is new, the location is great, but what makes the hotel special is the staff that really sincere to serve the guest. Ellie should be given credit for her tremendous effort, "

"My second stay at Dream, and just as happy with it as I was the first time. My family has stayed regularly at the JW Marriott (mostly using points), and they were just as happy with the Dream (and the location is better). Great staff, very nice rooms, good breakfast. Price has gone up a little, but depending on date, you can still get a very good rate here."

"I really enjoyed my stay here and am already booked to go back two times. This hotel is a splurge for me since I am traveling for a year but I still think it's a great value and so nice to have a modern clean cool room to come back to in Bangkok. After not having wifi for 3 weeks I literally sat in my room and got caught up with my writing and planning. I did think the food was expensive, and the mini fridge too, but I think it goes with a nice hotel in Bangkok. And it didn't stop me from utilizing both. The staff was lovely and let me use the pool for a few hours after I checked out. The location is great for cheap street food but the hotel has amazing food too. The buffet lunch is pricey for one person but really good. Nice huge television and very comfortable bed. Best sleep I have had in months."

"Very good. Often I want to go more up-market, but when travelling alone I look for decent quality at a good price. I got a lot better than that at Boss Suites. That might be the best buffet breakfast I've had in a hotel for a long, long time! Probably battling with the Marriott in Pattaya for first place; but the Marriott is 5 Star, and Pattaya isn't exactly a 'breakfast town' (unless they've already started serving when I'm coming in!) The only negative thing I can think of is that there was no spoon to stir my morning coffee! Many places don't even provide coffee, a kettle or a cup!"

" My husband and I travelled throughout Thailand for a month and stayed mostly in 4 and 5 star hotels. Prior to leaving we checked this site for recommendations on where to stay in Bangkok. Someone recommended staying on Sukhumvit and Soi 11 as it was a very good location. Through word of mouth we found out about the Grand Swiss Hotel located at exactly this location. Here are the reasons why we highly recommend it: - opened a week ago after being totally renovated - has the look, feel and smell of a new building - the beds are extremely comfortable compared to other hotels in this category - the duvets....heavenly - the decor is chic, tasteful and Thai inspired - the all female staff will do anything they can to assist you. I had an issue with a coat I purchased from a tailor and they made the calls and arrangements to rectify the matter for me - the Guest Service Manager personally addressed all our needs and concerns and made sure our check in and stay were a very positive experience - the restaurant manager also personally checked in with us during our breakfast buffet to make sure everything was perfect for us - we initially were a bit worried about the traffic on Soi 11 as we felt the noise might impede our sleep. Our room was located at the back of the hotel and we never heard a sound from the street. We were on the 14 th floor. - the hotel is somewhat receded from Soi 11 which may contribute to it being quieter - the hotel has a good size pool located outside on the 7th floor - there is a small gym on the same floor - the breakfast buffet changed every day - chef Joy strives to provide fresh, quality foods. During our visit we had freshly made muesli and yogurt. The orange "
