this was our final hotel we stayed at after a two week trip through thailand. and it was the most interesting hotel we stayed at. the hotel is located within china town and that makes finding great food on the street easy. also as the name suggests, it has a oriental decor theme which is executed nicely. the hotel is very clean and rooms are very comfortable, except for the very firm mattress. the staff are first class and perhaps the best we encountered along our journey which included a 5 star resort in koh samui. they are extremely friendly and very helpful. this is without doubt the best value for money hotel we stayed at during our journey. the best part of our stay with the shanghai mansion boutique hotel would definitely be the talented jazz band that was playing for 9pm onwards in the restaurant, it was an amazing finish to a great trip sitting in the restaurant having drinks and just relaxing to good music.

The Grand China Princess is a lovely hotel within vibrant Chinatown. Clean, quiet and modernised to today’s western standards. Massive flatscreens in your well sized room (smart tv’s so you can play your own films if you brought along your USB and connect your camera to watch your today’s footage of Bangkok), daily clean towels and sheets if you desire, a rooftop restaurant and 360 degrees turning skybar (European prices but good sushi) and an excellent indoor massage service. We arrived (01/02/2013) 2 hours prior to check in time and waited on the rooftop, at the small pool. Nobody was there, it was bliss. Yes, the pool area looks rundown and the toilet (one floor up) gave me the sensation of being part of "the Shining" (remember the film?), but I was not expecting a 5 star deluxe, massive swimming pool on the rooftop of a Chinatown hotel. If you bring along some fresh fruit juice, bought along the street, it’s a great place to relax and unwind from the hustle and bustle downstairs and your tiring flight. Plus, with this view, there’s really no need to go to the windy uptown Sirocco. Together with the enormous rainshower and constant supply of hot water, this hotel, for us, was the perfect stay to sleep away our jetlag. We always love to stay in Chinatown, just because of the good eateries around The corner; try J&K seafood, they''re great!

I made a reservation for a single for one night on 20 Ju.’11 and received a very warm welcome with a smiling from the reception and a very energetic porter as well. The room as assigned was considered quite good than I expected. I stayed on the higher floor with the window and got no effect from the smell of the carpet because this item has been released from the room after renovation on lasts year. It’s also very convenient to use the Internet as I can use choose to use WiFi or wired LAN. (You may ask this jwired Lan from the hotel if you don’t have) When I checked out and took the meter taxi to Hualamphont Railway Station, I cannot remember that my bag was forgotten until getting on the train. I then called to check at the hotel but there was no bag as claimed left at the hotel. Luckily, I was informed from the porter that, he can trace my bag as the number to the meter taxi has been noted at the porter log book and my bag was kept until I return to the hotel again on 25 Jul.’11. I was impressed with China Town Hotel very much.

I booked this hotel only as it was close to a friends hotel that was booked out... so kinda last choice as it looked rather cheap and cheerful. But to my amazement the place grew on me. I booked 3 nights and after getting there ... thought to myself “what the”. Anyways.... the guy on the door was on the ball.... the ladies behind the counter were all switched on and spoke English. From the start it was good old fashioned service. The rooms were dated but everything was clean and worked. Bed was comfortable and a modern tv. Breakfast was included also in there low price. It was a small smorgasbord.... but ticked the boxes for me.... eggs toast and thai dishes, cereal etc.....unfortunately if you like bacon.... I didn’t see any.... you really don’t need it anyways. I did not go to china town to shop or site see.... so I can not comment on the location to things like that. It’s right across from the railway stations... so easy access to other places in Bangkok. recommended

Our late arrival booking was handled smoothly. Rooms on the upper floors are best, since the lower floors were musty and damp. We loved the variety of pools and service was attentive. The breakfast buffet was bountiful and of high quality. The grounds were well kept and a delight to wander around. There was a bus stop right at the corner of the hotel so getting around was always easy. Great place, I would stay again

We stayed for almost a week and the staff is very nice. They would help us with directions and where to go and even helped us reserve our massage at Healthland Spa. We love the lobby/coffee shop/museum! Nothing beats the smell of good coffee in the morning. The hotel is very modern with white walls with murals and high ceilings. Everywhere in the building is just a good place to hang out and chill. With the train station currently in the works, it's going to be hard to book this place in the future!

this place was simply awesome. it was the best value of anything we've booked on agoda, and the only place that actually lived up to the pictures (actually, it was better!). the only hotel i've stayed at that has decent prices for room service (try the chinese date dessert crepe). this place was so colorful and inviting, we received a delicious chilled lemongrass tea and cold towel on arrival and free snacks in the mini bar. plus the shower pressure was very strong, and we enjoyed the high quality coconut oil soap / shampoo / conditioner. we also checked out the live band in the cotton club and had a few drinks, a great place to hang out. definitely recommended!

You get welcomed by the nice staff and get a fast check in and access directly to free WiFi. The rooms are clean and the bed is nice to sleep in. The pool area is on the top level and the view is breathtaking, with the river of chao praya and all nice buildings in sight. This is the best view from a hotel in Bangkok! The pool area is a great place to hang out at, with great cocktails and really good food during the day and evening and soft relaxing music. On the same level you have a new gym that is nice. The breakfast is tasty and you have alot to choose between and really good alternatives for both western and Asian people. The staff in the Hotel is great and very service minded. The location is great in the middle of China town with alot of things to buy from very cheap things to gold, it is here people from other parts in Bangkok come and buy. You also have so much good food both in the Hotell and outside in restaurants and on the street, same thing here people from other parts of Bangkok is coming here to eat and enjoy the atmosphere. The hotel has shuttleservice to differ places but really it is easy to walk both to the mrt at the train station and the express ferry at the river or take a tuk tuk or taxi which the staff will help you with. In my opinion this is really the best value for a Hotel in Bangkok compered with one star up to 5 stars hotel.
