"Super modern hotel, great rooms and bathroom, awesome interior. By far the best rooftop pool!!! Open until 22pm and also a great gym (in comparison to other hotel gyms). Very nice stuff and great location, you can reach the BTS Station by foot and also walk to Terminal 21 shopping mall and great rooftop bars and clubs. There are many other hotels around so there aren't that many close restaurants. The close massage studios are more expensive than in other areas of Bangkok. The breakfast was good but there was less selection than in other (even cheaper) hotels. I really really enjoyed my stay and would definitely come back!"

"Location of hotel is quite a distance from the BTS sky-train of Nana or Phloen Chit, average of 15 minutes walk. Neighbourhood is pretty safe day or night. There is no public telephone booth in the reception area and internet service from hotel is quite costly. Not sure if there is free transport from hotel to the main roadway of Sukhumvit. Nightlife is quite lively closer to Sukhumvit. There is no shopping malls nearby, have to travel by taxi or skytrain to nearest mall."

"I fairly enjoyed my stay in this hotel as I like busy areas and the "fun" lifestyle. I don't necessarily mean drinking and girls, I mean just enjoyment out of the fact to see everyone is having a good time. Of course if you're looking for drinking and girls I'd say this is one area you'd find it. The Sois can be very smelly and dirty, so if you're looking for total relaxation with spas and great views, this place is not for you. There is everything you need nearby from this hotel, shopping right around the corner on Sukhumvit road if you enjoy bargaining, also a supermarket nearby that will also serve cafe style food (although I can't say the food is great there). The hotel is at a very manageable walking distance to the Nana BTS station, however if you do go during the hottest months like I did, even that short distance can take it's toll on you. So do take advantage of the free taxi service that drops you off right at the stairs to the Nana BTS station. The rooms are very new and very clean, however they are on the small side, I didn't mind that at all, as all I wanted the hotel for is a place to sleep. Speaking of sleeping, the beds aren't very soft, while they aren't rock solid, they are on the hard side, so make sure you don't mind a firmer bed. They do charge quite a lot for the internet, 100baht per hour, which is a lot of money considering all the internet cafes around are 1baht per min. I did use the internet anyways because I needed the comfort of the using the net from my room, the net fortunately was quite a fast connection. Overall nice new hotel in a convenient location, just don't stay here if you're after 5 star relaxation hotel."

"Modern decor in a relatively small hotel (for Bangkok!) and very friendly staff were helpful and there was no problem in us leaving some luggage with Reception for the week we travelled. The room was spacious and very clean with a good shower and comfortable bed, something we found wasn't easily achieved at other hotels in Thailand. Breakfast is very basic and not worth setting an alarm for, there are plenty of pubs on Soi 4 that do a full English if you are so inclined. Hotel Solo is a handy find for a reasonably priced hotel in central Bangkok, around a 12 minute walk to / from Ploen Chit BTS station; a walk that is reduced to 5 minutes if you utilise the tuktuk service provided by the hotel to Ploen Chit Centre, however we didn't ever see the tuktuk to get back down Soi 2. The walk down the So in darkness was questionable for me, purely due to the rather large night rats around the street food truck, obviously nothing to do with the hotel."

"Our stay was brief but good. The room was very comfortable and modern, and hotel key allowed you free entry to Bed Supper Club for free (though we didn't get to go). Can't say much about the food, as our rate did not include breakfast and we ate out for the other meals. Staff was super helpful and the complimentary tuk tuk to the station was always available. Only downside was the walk back from the BTS station (and tuk tuks can be a real rip-off when you've got no other choice) and how far the area was from the main tourist attractions (near the river). I think it's a great hotel if you're specifically looking to stay in Sukhumvit itself, but we would stay in the Silom or Riverside areas next time."

"I was hesitant to book this hotel due to the location and other factors, but I wanted to stay in what is consider to be a historic place. I was blown away. I was very pleased with the professionalism of all the staff from the time I got out of my cab to the time I walked out the door and walked to the BTS station I was treated as visiting dignitary. I like the old classic look of the lobby and corridors down to wooden doors with an actual key to use in door knob to unlock the room. Once in the room it was a very modern well-appointed. Large and comfortable as any brand new Marriot. The new modern AC nearly froze me out. I had to turn it off to warm up a little. The AC stays on when you leave the room, no little card thingy. The complimentary breakfast and location make this a must visit if you are interested in the Sukhumvit area of Bangkok. I will stay here again. "

"The hotel was inexpensive in an expensive location. On arrival the receptionist was friendly but . to friendly he must have answered a dozen phone calls and other customers during the check in making it slow. I booked a standard room and they upgraded me to a superior and the room was lovely perfect aircon on a scorching day. There was free internet although a little slow. The swimming pool was nice but small and shallow which suited my needs with a 4 year old learning to sim. The pool bar on the roof was also very nice. Restaurant was also good, more expensive than elsewhere in Thailand but cheaper than the alternatives in the area. There is a free Tuk Tuk service from the hotel to the end of the Soi on Sakumwit which is near Nana BTS station. My son loved this. I booed this hotel so i could make an appointment at the UK embassy. It is 1 stop away on the BTS and worked out perfectly, For the price it would be hard to beat this hotel in the surrounding area which is a Busy tourist location"

"The nicest moderate priced 4 star accommodation I have stayed in Bangkok so far.  Recently renovated, the hotel feels very modern and luxurious for it’s price range.  The deluxe room had nothing to see outside the window but the room itself was clean, modern, and very stylish.  The bed was very comfortable. The pool area is impressive with some well designed water features, it drew a large crowd everyday.  Gym is pretty standard. Location was good – less than a 10 min walk to Nana BTS station with lots of restaurants in the surrounding soi.  The quality of the renovation itself feels like a higher standard than most of the competition, though it may just be due to the fact it was very recently completed.  Definitely will be back, my favorite of the 5 hotels I have tried when factoring in distance to BTS, room cleanliness and quality, surrounding amenities, and hotel facilities."

It's an adventure in itself, as you navigate through the maze of vendors, discovering hidden gems at every turn. Make sure to arrive early to avoid the crowds and the heat, and be prepared to spend several hours exploring.

For a more intimate shopping experience, check out the *K Village* market, which focuses on organic and locally-sourced products. This market features a range of food stalls, boutique shops, and even a small art gallery. It's a great place to relax and enjoy the local vibe while picking up some fresh produce or handmade crafts. Exploring these markets not only allows you to shop but also provides a deeper understanding of the local culture and community.

Bangkok Travel Tips for First-Time Visitors

For first-time visitors to Bangkok, preparation can greatly enhance your experience. One of the most important tips is to stay hydrated, especially during the hot months. Carry a refillable water bottle and take advantage of the many convenience stores to keep your drink topped up. Additionally, wearing comfortable shoes is essential, as you’ll likely be doing a lot of walking while exploring the city’s attractions.

Another tip is to familiarize yourself with local transportation options. The BTS Skytrain is a fantastic way to navigate the city, but don’t overlook the convenience of tuk-tuks and river taxis for a more unique experience. Always agree on a fare or ensure the meter is running when taking a taxi, as this can prevent any misunderstandings. Learning a few basic Thai phrases can also enhance your interactions with locals and make your journey more enjoyable.

Lastly, don’t forget to embrace the local cuisine! Bangkok is known for its street food, and trying dishes like *pad thai* and *tom yum* is a must. Be adventurous and explore food stalls and local eateries, as they often provide some of the most authentic dining experiences. With these travel tips in mind, first-time visitors can make the most of their time in Bangkok and create lasting memories in this vibrant city.
