"AUBERGE DISCOVERY BAY HONG KONG turned out to be a very pleasant surprise for us. We booked it mainly because the room was designed with a beautiful aqua blue theme and it had a full ocean view. However, it easily took the #2 spot in our list of most favourite hotels ever in the world (next to GRAND _______ in Florida) for the following reasons: First, its LOCATION was perfect as it is midway between Hong Kong International Airport (West) and the other Hong Kong islands (East), was away from the busy and crowded areas (no other hotels nearby), and was within a “restricted” area of Lantau so it was very quiet and safe. It was just 5 minutes away from Disneyland and offers free shuttle to and from the park. There is also an adjacent open, community-style mall to cater to all your needs, including a grocery, 7-11, salon, several different kinds of great restaurants, and a central play area for kids. My favourite thing about the hotel’s location though is the fact that it is right along the coastline! Just imagine waking up in the morning to a 180-degree view of the ocean and mountains of Lantau and the faint Shenzhen skyline from across the bay through a full-height glass wall while taking your morning coffee on a large and comfortable bed or on the nearby sofa bed. The second thing we absolutely loved is the BREAKFAST BUFFET. This hotel totally trumped all the breakfast buffets in other places we’ve stayed at all over the world, including those of 5-star brands like the Marriott in Singapore and Chatrium in Thailand, because Auberge’s breakfast buffet had the most variety and is of excellent quality, closes at 11:00 am, and the breakfast area is amazing as it had super high ceilings, very roomy and cozy, and is enclosed by a full glass facade with, again, the view of the ocean. You may also choose to sit outdoors under one of the canopies. Third, Auberge had LARGE ROOMS and DUAL SINK BATHROOMS. You also get to see the ocean through a huge picture window r"

"When I arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by the owner, and he brought us in, and offered us a drink. He gave us recommendations on places to see and eat, and gave us maps and details on how to best get there. The bedroom had 3 large windows, and stunning views. The rooftop terrace also had amazing views, and nicely appointed furniture. Bring food and drinks, as this place is special. The bedroom was very clean, and newly renovated and nicely docorated. I would stay here again if I were to go back to Lantau Island. In fact, I may go back to Lantau Island to spend more time on that rooftop. Very pleasant, and great value! "
