Hotels near Wang Lang (Siriraj) Pier

I've stayed at 5-star hotels on several continents, often costing two or three times as much, but none has come close to the attention to detail, the personal kindness, or concern for guests' well-being on display. When my wife needed a nurse to attend to an infection, the manager of the hotel himself accompanied her to our room, made arrangements for us to go to a nearby hospital, and called on our return to be sure that she had received effective treatment. In the magnificent rooftop bar overlooking the city and the barge- and cruise-boat traffic on a wide bend of the Chao Praya River, it quickly became apparent that all the staff knew your name, and anticipated your every wish. The rooftop restaurant was pricey, but the food was as close to heavenly as it gets. And if you wanted something more mundane, the cluster of restaurants around the hotel pier could muster up a meal to suit every taste. It's the best of both worlds in this self-enclosed resort at the heat of a great city.

From the moment we arrived at the hotel until we departed I was impressed by the standard of service we experienced from the hotel staff. I've stayed at quite a few hotels in Thailand and the service can be hit and miss, even at hotels at the higher end of the scale. The staff were always helpful and friendly even when the hotel was very busy. Although the location may look a bit off the beaten track and south of the main tourist attractions, the position on the river and the free hotel ferry service to the nearby Tha Sathon (Central)Pier afford excellent onward transport via the BTS (Skytrain)and Chao Phraya Express (Riverboat) services. The cost of the Skytrain and Riverboat are very cheap (30 Baht from Saphan Taksin station to Siam Square station and 15 Baht from Central Pier to Tha Chang pier for the Grand Palace and nearby attractions. There's also a free ferry from Central Pier that takes you to and from Asiatique on the Riverfront. I would recommend using the Riverboat and Skytrain services over taxis due the outrageous traffic in Bangkok. I would highly recommend staying in a room with a view of the river. The Grand Room we had included a small kitchen area which came in very useful. We also opted for the inclusive breakfast buffet which was well worth it. There was a great selection on offer with the option of dining inside in the comfort of air-con or out on the terrace, overlooking the river. We also enjoyed 2 meals at the hotel restaurant which were reasonably priced for the type and location of hotel. I would definitely stay at the Chatrium if I visited Bangkok again and would recommend it to others too

Had a wonderful stay at the Anantara Riverside during Thai New Year. The hotel is located a little out of the central area but has a complimentary shuttle boat, which ran to perfect timings throughtout. The shuttle drops you at either Asiatique or at Sathorn Express Boat Pier. Asiatique consists of a modern market complex with dozens of stalls, food stalls, restaurants, bars, shows and live music events. Prices were a little higher than elsewhere but bargain hard and it is still good value. Perhaps most importantly it is very clean and friendly and a great place for kids or those who do not feel ready for the more vibrant markets available elsewhere. Be aware Asiatique is a night market so not open until around 6pm. Sathorn Express Boat Pier is a little further (10 min max) and offers access to the water taxis to the entire Chao Praya river, and a very simple 2 minute walk to the skytrain linking you to the rest of Bangkok network. The Anantara Riverside calls itself a resort and you could spend your entire holiday at the wonderful pool area; although this would perhaps not be the best use of your time in Bangkok. There are a number of excellent dining options, breakfast is a buffet style mix of asian and international cuisines and is absolutely superb. We also ate at the pool bar,Nicoise salad being the agreed 'best choice' it was delicious, but all the food we had was well prepared, beautifully presented and served with typical Thai style! Overall I would highly recommend the Anantara Riverside but with one tiny recommendation. Describing a room as a river view should mean more than a fleeting glimpse of the water, and if you cannot get a 'full' river view then the rooms with pool views were a better choice. This does not detract from an excellent stay and we will definitely visit again.

Pros: Staff was incredible in terms of service and professionalism. 5-star service everywhere within the hotel., particularly noticeable at the Concierge. Views were outstanding. Swimming pool and gym exceeded my expectations. Hotel cleanliness was a clear focus. Ideally located to BTS and river pier making for incredible views throughout the hotel. Cons: I upgraded to the club floor and was disappointed both with the food and drink offerings, particularly breakfast. Also, the club hours are 6am-6pm, so i didn’t get much use of the included cocktails . Shower water pressure was poor. No patio furniture Rooms seemed a bit dated and smelled musty, but they were well cleaned and had all that I needed. Overall, the customer service put this hotel among the top of 5-star hotels that I’ve stayed at in Bangkok. I’ll definitely be back provided they keep the price at the lower end of the 5-star range.

This hotel is something difficult to describe. The hotel is amazing, really really beautiful, 5 stars and plus, but mmmm, for Bangkok really can be better. We book a club room and was ok, I mean, is 5 stars and all amazing you want, but the club is not the best in town, the room is not the best in town, the location is not too good, and is not cheap specially the restaurants and bar in roof, but you can say “yes, is amazing anyway”. Like I say, is difficult to explain, is good but not enough for the price, that’s the point. Anyway if find a good price & promotion, will come back yes or yes, but if too expensive, I will choose another. Also, the hotel should have different elevators for hotel guests and visitors to the sky bar. In night is almost impossible to take the elevator because have hundreds of people doing line to go to the roof.

Overall, the stay was as expected of Hilton standards. The warmest staff there are probably the boat shuttle personnel, and doormen. The others are rather cold and a little too impersonal. The worst is probably the 'breakfast door-lady' who never fail to embarrass my wife and I for two days. Perhaps it was my mistake to have made an error during my online booking to indicate only 1 person. Despite being assured during check-in that I can just walk in and the extra will be charged accordingly, I am still subjected to a 5 minutes questioning and further checking in the systems. But I suspect she does not understand my request "Please charge to my room". So, be extra careful when doing the booking, otherwise you would be harassed. Anyway, the breakfast is plain, at best, for a 5-star hotel. Although far, the hotel's boat shuttle makes it up. It is convenient, safe, regular, FOC and connects you almost directly to the BTS (Saphan Taksin) and the river express central jetty. Another public ferry (6 Bahts return) connects you nearer to Chinatown. For the adventurous, do visit the market directly beside the hotel for good authentic Thai food.

we stayed two night at the ibis riverside hotel and we liked it very much. it was remote from the city noise, yet not too far. we enjoyed the view of the river at night. our daughter enjoyed the second floor of the double deck bed. the location of the hotel is not central, which can be seen as an advantage if you need your quiet or a disadvantage if you want to be right at the center (though bangkok has no one center, so wherever you stay you need to commute). at night, when river taxis do not work, we used taxis or tuk tuks in order to get to other places in town (100 to 150 bahts each direction). during the day, within few minutes walk we were at the pier and took a boat to the pier on the other side, from which river taxis can be taken to other locations, succ as wat pho or we could take a long boat to a khlong tour. less then 10 minutes walk could also take you to the train station (which we did not use). another advantage of the location: a minute walk from the hotel you can find local thai food stands with excellent food as well as a small market. we loved it. we recommend this hotel.

We stayed at this property for 5 days in April 2018. It is centrally located in Bangkok and most of the famous sight seeings can be reached by public transport from here. The nearest BTS (Bangkok Skytrain) station is Krung Thon Buri is a mere 800m walk from here. You can use it to reach Chatuchak Weekend Market, MBK, Central World, Siam Paragon, Sukhumvit, Platinum Fashion Mall, Pratunam Market. For 15 bahts you can reach Grand Palace, Wat Arun and Chinatown by the ferry at Sathorn Pier (ask anyone to guide you for it, a small walk which will take you to the other side of Sathorn Pier from where you can take a ferry to the main pier for 5 Bahts) There are bus stops also on the main road which can take you to many places. Suvarnabhumi Airport is far from here around 40 kms, so if you have a flight to take fro here keep approximately 1.5-2 hrs aside for it (The property can help you book a taxi for 500 bahts for Airport and other sightseeing places). When my boyfriend and I were planning to book a Hotel in Bangkok, I wanted to have a tub in our room with reasonable prize, since it was our first night we wanted it to be amazing. I found this hotel and was won over its photos of the rooms and was transpired in person, which we were very contented. Upon arrival the FO was very welcoming and helpful, it didnt took us long to wait for the check in procedure and was assisted to our room after 5mins. We booked their Executive Deluxe and it was one of the best rooms. The tub was built for two, best for honeymooners, the bed is big and all the amenities are personalize which makes you feel like you're in a luxurious hotel. Location wise, its very quiet with a lot of street food, which their street is known for, aside from being the oldest roads in Bangkok (a good history), It's a good 5-8mins walk to Asiatique, where you can enjoy night shopping and mid-high level restaurants, before reaching Asiatique, you can pay a visit in a nearby temple for a little sightseeing. You can also save money and time by getting on the boat since its nearby Chao Praya river. Kudos to everyone and I hope to see you all again!

A quiet riverside property nicely tucked away amidst a fairly touristy area. This was a lucky last minute find, previously I had stayed across Phraya on Wang Lang pier and felt connectivity was a bit restricted, although from V Varee a meter cab ride to Sukumvit on average was about 100 baht (dependent on traffic), this hotel also rents space at a nearby parking lot in case you frequent Bangkok on work and prefer to self-drive. While at the hotel, I found myself spending most of my time sitting by the river-side than in my room. Rooms are clean, amenities are all very new and convenient. Food options were excellent, freshly prepared and tasty. Last but not least; I intended to put up here for just one night and move back to my condo in the city, the feeling of being on a holiday while on work was welcoming and I ended up staying here for 4 nights. Big shout-out to Aey at the reception for being an excellent staff member. note: would be nice to have help carrying bags to/from rooms.

I just spent the weekend with my boyfriend and a couple of our friends in Bangkok and do not regret choosing and staying at the Navalai!!! I did a LOT of research on this site as well as trip advisor because I really didn't want to end up staying in a dirty/seedy place. This is one of the few hotels in southeast asia that has actually lived up to the pictures on the hotel's actual website! It's situated right opposite Pier 13 and is in an easily walkable area. We hung out in Khao San Rd a few times as well as found it incredibly easy to hail a cab (and insist on meter) or tuk tuk (negotiate beforehand). On the first day, I walked to the National Museum, Grand Palace, and Wat Pho which was within 20 minutes and a nice way to take in the sights. The rooms are VERY well maintained and super clean. We each got a serene corner room and a balcony (the view wasn't great but not a big deal--I wouldn't even say getting the river view would be that much better since it's pretty polluted and overlooks some construction) The bed was SO comfortable and the curtains completely block out the sun in the morning so you could sleep in comfortably--also very quiet! It really did feel like I was staying in 5 star/top quality hotel but only paid about USD $60 (shared with my boyfriend so ~USD 120 total). The staff was awesome and very friendly. They tried to accommodate for us; for example, allowing us to check out an hour later than normal check out time since our flight was in late afternoon. Also helped me with directions to get to the various sites. If you want a good thai massage, I would just walk across the street of the hotel and not go to the one directly below it because it's only 180 Baht versus the 350 baht they charged at the hotel place. I think the one we went to is a couple doors down from a place claiming to be a "Lovetaurant" but I'm sorry that I forget the name--it's also immediately next to a street alley that leads you to Khao San Road. The pool is really nice.

We were visiting Bangkok for the first time and came across Theatre Residence. What a great place for our family. The grand suite was a beautiful and large space for us with great and comfy beds, seating area, a great kitchen area for what we needed and an elegant bathroom and dressing area. The pool, well it is shallow, is very refreshing and the lounge chairs are excellent. All the staff is amazing and accommodating. Cheers to Nong, who was a most excellent and helpful host. The fried rice and macaroni dishes as well as all other food we had was great. Breakfast buffet was very good! The location to Grand Palace and Wang Lang market could not be closer and was perfect for the amount of activity we wished but also is very accessible to other attractions with little haste because of pier. Thank you to the whole team for helping us have a great stay. We hope we can visit again!

Hard to find a modestly priced hotel right on the river and this small hotel is a gem. Take the local Chao Phrya River ferry to the Phra Atithit Pier and walk a few meters to the hotel. Situated next to Khao San Road and a short walk to the National Museum and all the main temples. Taxis very available - but make sure they use the meter. Tuk-tuks will charge too much for the ride. Beware. Very clean hotel with lovely staff. Reception speaks very good English and are most willing to help. Breakfast is fresh and has many choices including fresh fruit, eggs to order, and either pancakes or french toast that is made while you eat. The restaurant has many choices using fresh ingredients at affordable prices. The restaurant is right on the river with ferries and dinner cruise ships providing a nightly show.

The hotel is a bit old, but Room was very clean and Breakfast was good too. Hotel is in good location and close to Saphan Taksin BTS Station and Sathorn Central Pier (<10 min. walk). Also free shuttle boats available to ICON SIAM mall from this pier. River City Shopping complex (dinner cruise pier - book online, cheaper) is also in walk-able distance (15 min+). Hotel is approx. 1 hr drive from airport (pick-up and drop-off booked online).

Ideally situated in front of temples, it allows you to walk to many must-see temples and open-mall piers. It might be a little hard to find the hotel at first. If you just have a couple of days to visit and you just want to see the temples, then stay here as it's not close to a subway or the other part of the city with more night-life. The hotel contemporary look is very nice. The rooftop bar has great views of the city, river and temples. A very nice evening to be spent up there. The personnel is courteous. The room is roomy, clean, confortable. Seems odd to have the shower and bathroom sink at the end of the bedroom with no wall or door to separate the two, but it's fine. The toiletries are very nice. Room was made each day and they even offered a juice for their satisfaction survey. The breakfast is included, well-presented and delicious! The view from the breakfast area is amazing on a temple.

my wife and I booked the hotel for 3 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. after we arrived we were shown an upstairs room. I told the mgr. that my wife has a condition that causes her to lose her balance and the stairs, with no rail, would be too dangerous for her. I then reminded the mgr that we had booked the black room, on the first floor. she brought the owner to talk to us and I repeated what I had told the mgr. the owner, Cee, said that agoda does not tell them which room was requested only that a room was requested. I looked up our online booking and saw that the rooms were described but not linked to a color and all the rooms are defined by their color. Cee then said that another thai couple had booked the black room for two nights and he could give us one night in it and the 2nd night in another room, then the 3rd night back in the first room but he would talk to the other man and see what he could do. when we came out for supper Cee told us that the other man said we could have the room all 3 nights. Thainess at it's best! everything about our stay was wonderful from the staff to the food to the quirky uniqueness of the room. we felt like honored guests in someone's home and not customers in a hotel. if you want a particular room i suggest you go to the Loy Lalong website and book directly.

This is a beautiful hotel. Although it might not be a 4 star hotel on any lists, it seems like a 4 or 5 star hotel disguised as a 3 star. It has very large rooms, with king size beds. The carpets and interior of the rooms are so clean, with beautiful art deco present in every room and hallway. It has a strong emphasis on the artistic side of decor. My room had a beautiful view of the city, for miles and miles. As a building, it is not among many tall buildings; this one just suddenly appears among a standard local culture district, with standard Thai food shops along the street. But only a few blocks away is a very big restaurant and shopping area called Asiatica, which is like a truly international food court. Asiatica reminded me of restaurant and shopping areas in California! Same kinds of great breweries, restaurants and establishments, including a French restaurant and many affordable Thai restaurants. Room comes with refrigerator, and various amenities. Above all, the room is huge, and a beautiful clean white with art on the walls and a TV ready to go. Great climate control. Room did not come with free breakfast, but apparently, some do. Very fast and easy check in. I happened to be there for their Festival of Lights religious holiday and so this Asiatica shopping area and the street Tongtara is on were truly packed with people. Taxi driver and hotel staff reassured me it is not always like this!! But this is a beautiful hotel, which not only has huge rooms, a sense of art and large beds. It seems to be a 4 or 5 star hotel disguised as a 3 star hotel in a 3 star area!!

The best thing about this place was the view of the river. The riverfront room overs a panoramic view of the river, located just across from the Grand Palace and National museum. The balcony offers a great place to sit, have a coffee and watch the river traffic. Breakfast was buffet style and had a limited but good selection of items. Nothing spectacular though. The Wang Lang market is good, right outside the door, and offers a wide variety of street foods and drinks, but it shuts down early, between 8-9pm, and got quite crowded on the weekends. The biggest issue was the lack of decent restaurants in the area. I've never had and issue finding a decent meal in Bangkok before, but this area really lacked anything of quality. Also, being on the other side of the river causes some complications in transportation. You can take the river boat taxis during the day from the nearby pier, but they stop running early (8pm weekdays, 7pm weekends) which means either a long taxi ride back in the evening or taking the sky train over the river and then taking a taxi back to the hotel. Also keep the phone number of the hotel handy, because most taxi drivers don't know the place. (Though they do know the name of the nearby hospital, Sirirjit). To sum up, the views are amazing, but the location is a bit of a hassle.

Excellent place, quaint, very well built and located perfectly to experience day to life of Bangkokians that live by the river. The all wooden architecture & boutique furniture & decor creates an amazing warm & cosy feeling. The entrance is a bit off the beaten track, but the staff will help you get there very easily. Catch a grab to any of the nearby boat piers and u will have the full on tourist/local experience of everything to see along the Chao Phraya river. They have a very delicious menu from their in-house IMM restaurant. The only downside to this venue is they could probably provide a hotel boat that drops their guests to the nearest pier, that would complete the WHOLE river experience.

Praya Palazzo Hotel is situated across mainland Bangkok, away from the hustle and bustle of the city and this is what I like the best. It has a colonial style architecture and is simply a stunning place to stay for any relaxing holiday getaway. The only mode of transportation to the hotel would be via the boat. The hotel has it's own boat to fetch their customers from the pier. All you need to do is to give them a call from the pier and they will arrange a boat to pick you up shortly and it will only take 5 minutes to reach the hotel. Besides the unique location, I would also like to compliment on their excellent customer service that makes our stay more enjoyable. It's always nice to see someone waiting for you with your room keys when they know that you are reaching the hotel. When we came back to our room on our first night, it's really comforting to see that someone has already make our bed and has even turned on the air-condition for us. In order for us to contact them for whatever issues when we are at mainland Bangkok, the staff even arranged a mobile phone to us for free. Another thing worth mentioning is the breakfast. It's not like those international buffet breakfast from any other hotels. Breakfast is served from their restaurant and all you need is to order from the menu and it will be served to shortly. It's definitely a star hotel and I would rate it 10 points and beyond if I could.

We stayed 2 nights in a Royal Suite on the 7th floor. The rooms were huge, maybe a little too big for two people!! Great views of the Chao Phraya River from 3 balconies. Only short walk to express taxi boat pier to all the attractions of Bangkok. The hotel was clean and breakfast was good with a selection of dishes to choose from. Would stay here again if the area. We could not find any fault with this hotel, but I guess it comes down to individual guest expectation.

It was very nice experience staying in Swan. It's easy to find, very close to Oriental Pier, and not far from Saphan Taksin Sky Train station. There is a very pretty little swimming pool, which makes the inner view of the hotel very nice. Breakfast is good, and staff are friendly. The only shortcoming is there is no free wifi. Otherwise this would be a perfect little hotel for me.

Whether you’re a solo traveller, couple, or family - this place is absolutely amazing! From the moment you lay eyes on this aesthetically pleasing quaint boutique hotel - you will be in love! Talakkia is a hidden gem (literally, down a secure back alley), just a ten minute walk from Chinatown. The staff were exceptional, the food moderately priced and delicious, and the room superbly clean with everything you need - and not to mention the unique, modern-industrial chic decor, so cute! Would stay here a million times more if I could have the chance to! Handy mini bar with snacks and drinks to purchase, tiny (but wonderfully relaxing) outside pool and spa/reading/relaxing area, elevator, and ice cream are just a few of the other great perks! Side note - needed a quick shower after checking out and leaving for the day, staff easily let my partner and I come in, rent a towel, and shower up before a long night train ride (appreciate this so much!) - Talakkia, one of the best stays EVER.
