Raming Lodge Hotel is simply wonderful. From the moment I arrived I was treated with incredible courtesy and friendliness, as the staff are always eager to help. The rooms are also fantastic, with all the facilities you'd expect at a high end hotel with free snacks in your mini-bar. Slippers, dressing gown, umbrella, room safe, all are ready for your use. The bedrooms are big and comfortable with air-con, and the bathroom are also luxurious. The massage spa within the hotel is also great value for money (when I was there, it was buy one get one free!), and the quality of the massage is also impressive. There are different packages to choose, so you can accommodate your time/budget quite easily. The swimming pool is quite small and slightly removed from the hotel itself, but Chiang Mai isn't really the kind of place for swimming pools; it's more for sight-seeing, or trips to nearby areas. Speaking of trips, the staff will help you find any that you're looking for ranging from jungle adventures to wats, visiting tribes people to going to the zoo. Of note is also the price, as these excursions are quite cheap especially when compared to other cities in Thailand. The hotel is very close to the 'old town' where plenty of wats, statues and monuments are waiting for you. Additionally there are plenty of quality cafes to have a rest before continuing your journey. Location is good in this regard, however - the hotel has several go-go bars nearby. The girls were very respectful whenever couples or families walked past, but if you're a single man/group of men you will be asked inside. Usually the patrons are 60/70 year old men though! It's not really a problem, but maybe something to be aware of. I will definitely be staying at Raming Lodge again if/when I visit Chiang Mai again, as it was a great experience and incredible value for money.

This hotel is top notch. From the attentive staff, (and I mean all of them, doormen, front desk, cleaning staff, restaurant and bar staff. I highly recommend them. The hotel is conveniently located in the Night Bazaar area. I originally booked next door at the Suriwongse Hotel (old hotel). I booked 4 nights and I did not feel clean. The Hotel is old and had a very bad odor. After the first night, I waked my family over and booked 3 nights at Le Meridian. I booked though Agoda and even though I prepaid once I did not feel happy and paid more money to stay at Le Meridian. The front desk person at Le Meridian was very nice. I told him of our dilemma and he got us adjoining rooms, Internet and breakfast all nights for choosing their hotel. He didn't have to do that and I felt that was just the cherry that tops an already excellent hotel. That's the service you expect. I will definitely stay again and recommend the hotel to all my business associates. I hope Agoda helps me out with an credit for the lack of oversight on the quality of the hotel. The Suriwongse is not a 4 star hotel. Sincerely George Mendoza

My room had a nice king bed and had a walkout balcony overlooking pool area. Very pleasant. The room had old wiring with only two holes which made using three pronged devices impossible without adapter. Hotel had a shortage of these. Very easy to bring your own or buy at 7-11 across street. No in-room safes, but staff readily available for lobby area vaults. Dining buffet for breakfast was well prepared and maintained plus outside area allowed for special requests. Large variety of dinner buffet choices as well as menu items. Lobby seating was expansive and very comfortable. Some taxi service not reccommendable, but for tuk-tuk service, a man of the highest integrity can be found at this hotel. His name is Wat. I would reccommend this hotel to a friend and believe your experience would be pleasantly memorable.

In the heart of Chiang Mai, right on the shopping street and close to many excellent Wats. This place is managed by the Dusit hotel group and it shows. Although a little older, it has been nicely renovated and everything works as advertised. The bed was very comfortable, the tv was excellent, fast elevators and excellent service. The hotel is right on a busy street but you would never know it.

Fast and smooth check into Hotel. No hassle. Room spacious and clean though a bit dated. Renovations going on but not affect our stay cos we were out visiting places most of the day. hired a driver for 6 of us at reasonable price for 2 days tour. 1st day to Chiangrai and 2nd day to Wat Suthep, Wat Inathanon and later to Royal Flora Exhibit. Interesting and amazing trip if not for the haze especially at the Golden Triangle. Up the mountain at Inathanon is cool. For the Night Bazaar at Anusarn we managed to see the Cabarate Show at the cost of a beer. So cheap. Morning we walked to Warorot Market and wet market to see the locals' life. For the Hotel, I would stay for my future trip here.

I booked the deluxe terrace room after having read many good reviews about this hotel and its location. I must say the reviews on agoda and trip advisor were spot on. I had read a few complaints about the deluxe terrace rooms and that they are away from the hotel, no elevators so you have to walk up the stairs etc etc. I have to say contrary to other reviews, I thought that this was the best feature of these rooms and to add to that it had a separate sitting lounge, a jacuzzi in the sitting lounge area (sounds odd but it is the central feature with good lighting). The deluxe room is equipped with a fridge and a microwave which came handy at times when we needed to re-heat or cool anything. Another complaint I read was that there no elevators/ lifts. We were on the top most floor but I did not find that a hinderance and you do not notice the stairs you need to climb unless you are extremely lazy and cannot walk more than 100m! The stairway lobbies were well dressed and even though the rooms did not have balconies (in fact most hotels I checked out in the centre of Chiang mai did not) it had an open corridor with flower areas which served as seating areas in addition to the lobbies on each floor. The best feature of the deluxe terrace rooms was that it had a local Thai feel to it through the furnishings. Of all 5 hotels I stayed at in Thailand, this was the only hotel that had this feature and combined with the rich culture of Chiang mai, I couldn't have asked to stay at another hotel if I were to go back. The hotel location is what I would vote as the best. It is not too far away from all the activities and nice eateries, but also the night bazaar. Within the hotel square there are many coffee shops, a fish spa, a travel agent, hairdresser and also a small supermarket which comes handy when you get tired of hotel food. My girlfriend and I just wanted to get away from the busy working environment, we decided that Chiangmai would be a great destination, given the climate during the weekend after new year. I just booked Dusit D2 because of the name and didn't expect much, but turned out to be one of the best choice I've ever made!!! First impression was how well prepared the staff was. Everyone, from the driver to the receptionists, knows our names right after I told them once at the airport. They all treated us warmly so we felt much like home. The warm welcome, with personal touch, e.g. small tokens left for us as souvenir, nightly fortune cookies on the pillows, etc. can light us up everytime we entered the room. Every staff tried to fulfill our requests in the best way they should be handled (with a small fee (of course). The location and ambience of the hotel was spetacular, it was right next door from the Chinagmai Night Bazaar, walking distance from attractions, while the room was quiet enough so that we can have a peaceful and relax time at night. Didn't try the food, the spa, the pool, and the fitness center during the last stay, will not miss it next time. Will absolutely go back on next trip to Chiangmai

I really liked this hotel and will definitely go back. The rooms are really nice and good size too. The bed was comfy. The front of the hotel has a cute little bar with decent drink prices. Breakfast was good. Pool is small but looked beautiful. It's on a quieter street but just a few minutes walk to the Night Bazaar and the Sunday Night Walking Street. My only complaint is that when I asked the staff to book us a taxi to the airport, the best she could offer was a car for 600 baht! I go to Chiang Mai a lot and know that that is a ridiculous price. She wouldn't call any other taxis/car services. We ended up just flagging down a songtheaw on the street for 200 baht - it was 4am.

First time travel to Chiangmai and this hotel definitely one of the best hotel I ever stay. Budget hotel with 6* stars service. Definitely will come back this hotel the next time I visit Chiangmai again. Just 1min walk to Night Bazzer and take a Rot Daang in the city of 30bahts was so cheap. 10min to Saturday & Sunday walking street. what a wonderful and fruitful trip. Thank you all the staff in Nap In especially the staff that in charge of our luaggage check in.

For smokers, take note that Chiang Mai is a city that do not pander to the needs of smokers. Hotels, food courts, (even roadside hawker stalls) pubs, bars (that I went to) all had a NO SMOKING policy. For Star Hotel, it was rather nice of the Management to allow smoking outside the hotel's main entrance. The area doubles up as an outdoor drinking zone for guests. It was a welcomed facility for smokers like myself. Overall I find this hotel perfect for my stay in Chiang Mai. 1. Location wise it is smacked next to a night market and a food court. Excellent 2. Facilities wise: 2.1. Wifi was a bit difficult to connect. Every time you leave the hotel and return it doesn't reconnect automatically. No complaints here. Just that you need to do a bit of extra work to get connected. 2.2. Bed though firm and some might even say "hard" was excellent for me. 2.3. Room was excellent for the money paid 2.4. Breakfast was sufficiently satisfying. (I'm not one who pays a small sum of money and expects a princely spread) 2.5. Staff was friendly and smiling and accommodating (it cuts both ways...I guess if you scowl all day or nit pick at everything, most people won't be smiling at you) 2.6. Food - nice and reasonably priced. One evening we were too lazy to walk all the way to the market for food and decided to try out the hotel's "Sukiyaki" aka Buffet Steam Boat and for something like 180 bhat per person we had a wonderful dinner at the hotel's restaurant. 2.7. Cleanliness, everything was clean 2.8. Shower - for taller people this might be a problem. My height is 5 feet 6 inches and it serves my purpose. My taller friends had a bit of a problem getting the shower to hit them at the right spots. Hahaha. Water pressure was acceptable 3. Overall, I would definitely stay in Star Hotel again for my future trip I find this an unpretentious hotel and in fact pleasantly surprised that it was higher than my expectations.

we booked two rooms for 6-person family, and got the rooms with a through-door, thhat's convenient. the rooms were clean, the staff were very nice. you can walk to night bazaar, and easily cath a tuk-tuk, a songthaew, or a taxi to visit the temples. if you have car-sick, be careful to book a trip to wat phrathat doi suthep, or a long trip to golden triangle, the places "must to go". we highly recommend these places.

The best aspect is location - Ratana is very near the Night Bazaar and many food court options. We had 3 rooms with windows facing an internal courtyard. They didn't have fridges, but the shower was good and the safe worked well. The beds were comfortable and clean. The pool is well maintained, but very cold at this time of year. Breakfast lacks interest and variety, and the coffee machines were always needing attention. The staff were OK, but English proficiency is sometimes a problem.

It's right at the night bazaar. I had bad experience in Bangkok hotel before that so when I saw from outside, I was worried but when you enter the place, it's clean, the size of room is good enough for two of us and it's step away from Night bazaar. You can also book tour or rent a bike at the travel agent inside the hotel. We have surveyed and the price is the same and some is cheaper. The laundry in the hotel is cheap and can finish in one day. The staffs are helpful eventhough we are misunderstood because of the language.

This hotel seems to be built recently, the room condition was almost best and well maintained. Its location was really nice to me, only 5 minutes to Night Market and 7 minutes to Tha Pae Gate on foot. A lot of travel agencies, massage shops, local restaurants, street vendors, 7-11 CVS and etc. are located around this hotel. If local foods are not to your taste (I never think so.), you can easily find Burger King, McDonald and Starbucks in Night Market. There is a bus stop only 5 minutes away, you can take buses B1 (From Bus Terminal to Chiang Mai Zoo) and B2 (From Bus Terminal to Airport). The staffs were really helpful and kind with happy smile always.

We arrived here late in the evening and were picked up from the airport by Por, she was a lovely and super friendly lady who works on the property. We immediately felt welcome and from the moment we arrived, there were several employees who came to help us. My father is in a wheelchair and my mom and I had a lot of luggage with us, they arranged everything smoothly throughout our check in. This was absolutely the best during our 3 week trip in Thailand so far. During our stay, all the employees here were super attentive, friendly and helpful. The fact that everyone spoke English was definitely a plus! The little things they did for us, for example, like bringing us a glass of water while we were waiting for our Grab car, we didn’t even ask for it. Or when they see a car arriving and people stepping out with luggage, within seconds somebody comes running to help them. The rating for the service alone, I would give 5* (more if possible). The rooms are big and very comfy, the beds were a little hard but not as hard as the ones at the other hotels we stayed so far. All amenities were also available in the room, 2 bottles water room temperature and 2 bottles in the fridge, coffee and tea, toothbrushes, combs and even an electric fly swatted! Location is in a very lively neighborhood, close to nightlife, night markets, massage parlors and a variety of shops. All in all, if we ever come back to Chiang Mai, we will definitely stay here again. And also recommend this hotel to everyone we know who plan to visit Chiang Mai.

we book this hotel due to the other hotel we often stay was fullt booked. so glad i got the chance to stay there. It is definitely one of the best stay i ever had during my holiday! owner is indeed friendly and the room is new and clean! and the bed, is one of the most comfortable one i had slept in. The complimentary breakfast is good and healthy too!! just hoping that there are more choices to choose. nothing to complain. thumbs up!! we will definitely come back again!!

Pros : The location is absolutely amazing especially if you like to walk. To the famous Warorot market is only 10mins walk. Night bazaar is literally at the backdoor of the hotel. My mom (age 56) and I walked everywhere, to Sunday night market (Thapae Gate) and Old city (temples Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Phra Singh, etc etc). To the airport is only 10mins by songteaw. Thumbs up for location!!! Street food is everywhere along the street of night bazaar. Cons : The building is old, hence the room ventilation is not that great. Air-conditioning is good but the air is not fresh. We are out from 8am and returning at 10pm every night so it bearable given the value for money.

Ok, it's not the cheapest for chiang Mai, but book the jasmine room! it's massive, the jacuzzi is amazing, the shower is huge!, tv, slippers, bath robes, tv and DVD player! There was never anyone in the pool when we went swimming - just lovely pool area. Your on the door step to a beautiful night market, see the cabaret show there! Lots of laughs and free show! Cheap booze! Everything is close by! Buffet breakfast is good - not amazing but as good as it gets in Thailand. The staff were absolutely amazing - friendly, smiling - nothing was to much to ask.

Amazing stay! Its a beautiful boutique hotel with Lanna architecture inspired. Since you are in CHiang Mai, you might as well stay and experience the Lanna design and decor and get the feel of local architecture influence. Room is spacious enough for two,comfortable bed,and cool raw bathroom concept. Tv location is a bit tricky as they are using 4post bed and the frame interfere with your tv view..I stay at room 121...this is the best room I would say as it was away from the main road and the receptions. You can opt to choose room 121, 122, and 123, all on the same row. Breakfast was good and filling. The location of the hotel is great as it is very close to Sunday market as well as night market. Tha Pae gate is also within 5 minutes walks, with a lot of cool shops and cafe a long the way. Overall great place to stay. Really happy with the whole thing :)

this is an fabulous little hotel and well worth the price , the staff are friendly and helpful and are always cleaning making this hotel spotless. the breakfastis a usual one to expect , nothing flash but it is all good with absolutely no complaints. the shower here is awesome it is so big it is like a rainfall. this is a very nice hotel that deserves more star for its service. so tip the girls well - cheap hotel so look after the staff and they love it too.

Thai wife American Husband. The Small hotel Chiang Mai is just that small but very usefull, is in a great location and close to the Night market. The Sunday walk is very close also, you could walk it but a Red truck ride is faster. The employees are very helpful and speak very good english for the most part. I would like to give Ann a special thanks as she help us alot while we were there. Ann is at the front desk and specks very good english, Thanks Ann... We stayed at the Small Hotel Chiang Mai for two days and wanted to extend but they were all booked up. I think that in it self shows what a nice hotel it is. The floors and walls have been freshly painted and the bathroom is very clean. It's not a four star hotel with all the trimings but it has what a person needs, a bed, TV, DVD player which you can get free movies from the front desk. It has a bathroom and I found the window looking into the shower from the bedroom very interesting. They do have a curtain to cover the window if you want but that's no fun.. The room service is great and they did a very good job of cleaning the room. The breakfast in the morning is on the 5th floor outside on the roof is great, so relaxing. The food is pretty much the same everday. The do have a cook that will fix your eggs any way you like them which worked out very well for me as I love eggs. They had Thai food mostly. The pool is very small more like a very large hot tub but goes along with the name of the hotel. The water is very refreashing for a short time. The free wireless internet in the room is not that good but down stires in the lobby it's great and fast. Was able to watch American football on Direct TV Supercast on my computer. We will stay there again and I have told my friends about the Agoda and the Small Hotel Chiang Mai.

Loved it here. Staff were so friendly and helped us book our buses and excursions. We did compare proces elsewhere and found the price to be pretty much the same but the lady who sells the tours gave us alot of honest info and different choices so we could pick exactly what we wanted rather than kust having a leaflet given to you and just sort of guessing yourself what will be best. When we went on our trip they did cute little things like left towels out for us to take on our trips with a little note - just very thoughtful and a personal touch. Rooms were all you need as a traveller really just white and clean with aircon, fridge, dresser etc. also had a satellite tv. Location is just off of one of the main streets to Night Bazaar - easy to get to everything but quiet at night we were never kept up. All in all a great stay and would recommend, although we didnt meet other travellers here so if you were a solo traveller would probably go to a hostel. Easy enough to meet people out and on trips though so we had no problems.

I stayed for 6 night straight at B&T and i loved it! The location was in the central, near the Tapae and Chiangmai gate. The staff (Um and Noon) were super friendly, the gave the info about the surrounding and take care of me really well. The room was big, well litted and spacious, and they always provided water in the fridge. The staff cleaned the room and premises every day. When in Chiangmai, forget the tuktuk or taxi, just pulled on Songthaew (red car transportation) and pay 20-40 baht around the city. For those coffee lover (as I am), Nimmanhaemin Road is a must to visit! Love Ristr8to (nimman soi 3), 9th Street Cafe (nimman soi 9) and Dolcetto (nimman soi 7)--simply the best coffee shop in town. For those shopaholic: Waroros Market, Changklan Rd, Night Bazaar, Anusarn market, Saturday and Sunday walking street is def the place. Put one or two days to visit the elephant farm (Patara Elephant Farm) and Tiger Kingdom. Best experience ever!

I was lucky to stay at this hotel before it closed for a refit and having that privilege coming here after the refit, l will say the difference on the old and new is very limited, the old you lugged your suitcase up the stairs and now they have installed a lift which is a big plus! ! The frontage is alot better with the spacious area for coffee or smokers to cough themselves to death...the bedrooms are basic with still aged furniture in place, but l must say a comfortable bed is always a welcome bonus and to think when l travel around the world the three things that l swear by is clean bathroom, comfy bed and an exceptable clean room and lm happy. I always maintain you only sleep in the room not live in it, if your looking for all the refinements of a hotel....then look for 5 stars and even then you could be disappointed. I paid $30 Australian p/n in high season with breakfast which is basic tea coffee toast, cereal, fruit.lf your looking for eggs you will pay 60tbh (fried or scrambled) hope this review helps in making your mind up...for me it suited my needs as in shopping and getting about and would stay again....cheers!

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel, and despite there being a big choice of hotels in Chiang Mai they got our repeat business. We will also be going back next month for a couple of days. The young staff were excellent, the beds and pillows superb and location great. As stated in my review from our last visit the shower was superb. All in all a great place to stay. Just to make it better the timings for breakfast are the best I have experienced in a small hotel - 8am - 11am for breakfast. Ideal for us late risers. It should be noted that unless I am mistaken there is no lift in the building which is not a problem for me but maybe for others. All the bedrooms are upstairs.

I came because it was cheap, i stayed because of the amazing decoration. Beds are quite hard and rooms are old and simples but i survived 😉. Hundreds of movies, ads, newspapers old posters on the walls. Hundreds of old bottles, boxes, clocks and other stuff everywhere in old wood furnitures and cupboards. It's maybe not as clean as you expect from a standard hotel but it is not a standard hotel. It's not dirty, it's old, sometimes dusty because of all the things everywhere and i really appreciated the feeling of the place. And the staff has been nice ! I definitlely will come back !
