Hotels near Wat Suthat

We stayed over the Shanghai Mansion for 4 nights on the second part of our Honeymoon. The room has plenty of space, and as some stated in earlier reviews, it's beautifully decorated in an romantic chinese style. Notice that there are no "real" windows, so the light you get is mostly artificial. This helps the ambientation, but could be a negative point for some. We saw some rooms upstairs (cheaper ones) with natural light coming in from the windows. It is situated in the heart of Bangkok's Chinatown, you will be within a tuk tuk / taxi distance of the main sightseeing points in the city (Khao San Road, Grand Palace, PatPong, Wat Po, Wat Arun, etc). Breakfast was great, with many options (some fresh and hot from the kitchen) and good clean food. Service was very dependable and willing to help. Their english wasn't great, but good enough to get across. We live in Argentina so ours isn't great either. They give you complimentary (free) bottles of water, iced tea cans, beer and pepsi cans, as well as some snacks, tea and cofee. This was really a nice touch, after hours walking in the heat and chaos of Bangkok. The king sized bed was great and very confortable. Our sink got clogged and they fixed it right away... no problem... Only thing this hotel was lacking, in our point of view, was a swimming pool. Overall, it was a great stay in a very nice, romantic and not overpriced hotel. Highly recommended!

Excellent choice for hotel. Close to rail station, and in heart of Chinatown, so full of that type of eating choices. (But please everybody give a big grimacing visible "thumbs down" to managers of restaurants displaying dried shark fins.) Easy short three or four block walk to river terminal 5; travel by river boat is easiest way to get around to the Wat Pho area; road traffic is so crowded. Room is big enough, comfortable beds, bright with big windows (our room 15th floor, good view over city; don't worry about getting "good" view, all the same in any direction, cannot see river at all). Lots of hot water. Kettle and hairdryer. Breakfast OK, perfectly OK (western and Chinese), but not memorable. Terrific counter staff, getting us into a larger room when we showed up late at night, then quickly getting us into another room in the morning without bothering us at all. Well done. All in good English.

I made a reservation for a single for one night on 20 Ju.’11 and received a very warm welcome with a smiling from the reception and a very energetic porter as well. The room as assigned was considered quite good than I expected. I stayed on the higher floor with the window and got no effect from the smell of the carpet because this item has been released from the room after renovation on lasts year. It’s also very convenient to use the Internet as I can use choose to use WiFi or wired LAN. (You may ask this jwired Lan from the hotel if you don’t have) When I checked out and took the meter taxi to Hualamphont Railway Station, I cannot remember that my bag was forgotten until getting on the train. I then called to check at the hotel but there was no bag as claimed left at the hotel. Luckily, I was informed from the porter that, he can trace my bag as the number to the meter taxi has been noted at the porter log book and my bag was kept until I return to the hotel again on 25 Jul.’11. I was impressed with China Town Hotel very much.

My group were totally delighted by our 3 nights stay here. responsive and helpful staffs, able to communicate in both English and mandarin. Hualamphong train station is just directly opposite (1min walk)and chinatown and Wat Trimit (solid Gold Buddha) is just behind the street (3mins walk). MRT subway is just across the hualamphong station. but to get to the chaopraya River we need a good 15mins walk with the help of locals. dont be fooled by tuktuk trying to cheat you that river piers are long walk! The hotel room itself is so clean that we didnt mind to walk around from room to room in bare foot lol.... 5/5 stars for their cleanliness and performance!

perfect for exploring chinatown , palace sleeping buddha and wat arun really easy to move about on the river from the hotel to get off the dusty busy streets. express water taxi superb service disappointing that we had to discover this ourselves. reception very pleasant and friendly but not so good on tourist advice. for anyone wanting a great place to chill before heading out on a long thai train journey this has to be the place to stay.

We stayed for almost a week and the staff is very nice. They would help us with directions and where to go and even helped us reserve our massage at Healthland Spa. We love the lobby/coffee shop/museum! Nothing beats the smell of good coffee in the morning. The hotel is very modern with white walls with murals and high ceilings. Everywhere in the building is just a good place to hang out and chill. With the train station currently in the works, it's going to be hard to book this place in the future!

this place was simply awesome. it was the best value of anything we've booked on agoda, and the only place that actually lived up to the pictures (actually, it was better!). the only hotel i've stayed at that has decent prices for room service (try the chinese date dessert crepe). this place was so colorful and inviting, we received a delicious chilled lemongrass tea and cold towel on arrival and free snacks in the mini bar. plus the shower pressure was very strong, and we enjoyed the high quality coconut oil soap / shampoo / conditioner. we also checked out the live band in the cotton club and had a few drinks, a great place to hang out. definitely recommended!

You get welcomed by the nice staff and get a fast check in and access directly to free WiFi. The rooms are clean and the bed is nice to sleep in. The pool area is on the top level and the view is breathtaking, with the river of chao praya and all nice buildings in sight. This is the best view from a hotel in Bangkok! The pool area is a great place to hang out at, with great cocktails and really good food during the day and evening and soft relaxing music. On the same level you have a new gym that is nice. The breakfast is tasty and you have alot to choose between and really good alternatives for both western and Asian people. The staff in the Hotel is great and very service minded. The location is great in the middle of China town with alot of things to buy from very cheap things to gold, it is here people from other parts in Bangkok come and buy. You also have so much good food both in the Hotell and outside in restaurants and on the street, same thing here people from other parts of Bangkok is coming here to eat and enjoy the atmosphere. The hotel has shuttleservice to differ places but really it is easy to walk both to the mrt at the train station and the express ferry at the river or take a tuk tuk or taxi which the staff will help you with. In my opinion this is really the best value for a Hotel in Bangkok compered with one star up to 5 stars hotel.

Zen Room Yaowarat soi 7 is the same place as Pho Place Hotel Yaowarat. From Google Map, you will see only a very narrow walk alley to the place. But if you turn left at the corner, you'll see another wider entrance, opposite from Wat Traimit. Even situated in Yaowarat, one of the most busiest part of Bangkok, the place is quiet, especially at night. The room is not large but spacious with modern decorations and necessary amenities for a light traveler. Staff are friendly and very helpful. It is a good stay for travelers who want to explore China Town or any one who wants a comfortable overnight stay in Yaowarat.
