I stayed a night at Kagelow since I had plans to hike Mt. Fuji the following day. While hostels aren't my first option for accommodations, I was really impressed by the quality of their property, even moreso at the rate I paid. I appreciated the on-site parking and quick access it provided me to Mt. Fuji. Even walking a few blocks from the hostel, I was met with great views of the volcano. Kagelow had an onsite restaurant/bar, where my friend and I enjoyed dinner the night before our hike. Regarding the room, there are a few options for private rooms, but I found the bed in the shared dormitory I stayed in to be quite comfortable. Because the bathroom and kitchen is communal, expect the responsibility of cleanliness to be shared with other guests, but I found everything to be relatively tidy. If you have plans to climb Mt. Fuji or explore the area around Lake Kawaguchi, then Kagelow is a great place to stay!
