I stayed in a 3-bedroom suite and it was really nice. There are two rooms with king-sized beds and one room with two single beds, as well as a large living room (with a sofa and table) and a small kitchenette. The kitchenette has a large refrigerator, sink, microwave, and electric stove, but there are no cooking utensils or dishes, so I couldn't use it for cooking. There are three bathrooms, each of which is spacious and has a shower, but no bathtub. Each room also has a separate key lock, so when multiple families stay together, they can have privacy in their own rooms. The breakfast was also delicious, with different options every day, and they even made omelets and rice noodles upon request. The staff were very friendly, and if I have the chance to visit again, I would definitely stay at this satisfying hotel.

We stayed 3 nights at Koulen. The rooms are huge and although the furniture is a little dated, the whole place is very clean. Beds are comfortable, linens, towels all clean. The temperature of the shower was a little cold, couldn't get it to be any hotter. But water pressure is good. Staff are all very polite and helpful. The hotel helped us arrange a tuk tuk for the Angkor Wat sunrise tour and they also provided breakfast for us to bring along. Breakfast buffet is alright. Decent variety with egg station, noodle station, breads and pastries, cereals, cheese, cold cuts, sausages, bacon, potatoes etc. Location is very good. There was a small mall next door. We could also walk about 1 km to Pub Street in the evening. Didn't feel unsafe in that area at all. Overall, an excellent hotel stay for us.

We rate the Koulen Hotel as 4.5 stars, not really for anything negative, but it is not the highest standard of hotel. Staff were always helpful, polite and offered great service. Rooms very generous size. Breakfasts were pretty good, rotating the menu slightly each day, covering a selection of cold and warm food, breads, lovely noodle soups and stir fry noodles. As with most hotels, the Bain maree foods could have been hotter. Coffee was always great, and presented perfectly. Showers were nice and hot, and internet was fast enough. The pool is a great family pool, but big enough to swim reasonable laps. Combined with the cocktail hour (2pm to 6pm), with 2 for 1 cocktails at Asian Prices, it made for many relaxing afternoons by the pool. Location is around the corner from the Royal Palace, public spaces and plenty of supermarkets and services. Yes it is a bit of a walk to Pub Street, but Siem Reap offers plenty of other dining options beside Pub Street. Lots of little and safe eating places nearby at very cheap prices A few not so positive comments: The attention to detail in cleaning of bathrooms could be improved. (Not bad but could be better). We didn't dine in the Hotel Restaurant, as we felt prices a little expensive. The rooms all had kitchenettes, but no cutlery or cooking equipment. This was reflected with very few in house diners during our stay. Maybe offer at lower price point. Noise: Rooms pretty protected from sound outside, except for a few days: During a public event over 3 or 4 days in the Royal Palace public space, where some great foods and stalls were present, the event was supported by extremely loud band and doof doof music. The reason we didn't stay near pub street was due to such noise. Recommend just double checking no public events nearby during your stay. Koulen Hotel is in a convenient location in the French quarter closed to the royal residence. It is very easy to go to places like the pub street, etc. on foot or by a short tuk tuk ride. The front desk staff are very friendly and helpful to arrange tours and airport transfers. The restaurant staff are very helpful to accommodate special dietary needs and the foods are very tasty. The only slight disappointment is that no one told us that the restaurant was closed early on our last night of our stay in advance. They did have substitute chef and waiter to cook for us and deliver the foods to our room but the quality was less good. BTW, there is a kitchen with stovetop but there is no cookware available.

Koulen Hotel is sincerely one of the best hotels I have stayed at worldwide. The grounds and quarters are beautiful, well appointed and comfortable. It's less than ten minutes walk to the old market. Has amazing tour options for planning your vacation experiences. And when you are done for the day you can retreat in comfort. There is good food, massage and exercise/swimming facilities. My stay has been an absolute joy.
