I decided to place a one night booking at this hotel with a planned surprise bd celebration for my partner after going thru the hotel reviews and location on Agoda. After the booking was confirmed, I called in to check out on possibilities of early check-in, surprise arrangements and free parking twice. But on both occasions, the information provided by both customer service was different. The first one told me early check-in was chargeable but the following one told me that I can try from a certain timing onwards without guarantee though. I reached the hotel alone early but the hotel was kind enough to allow me to leave my props for bd celebration with the concierge. Check-in wasn’t a hassle after returning to the hotel with my partner and overall the hotel’s ambience and lift access to rooms was good. However, the hotel room is pretty cram without any wardrobe provided and two ppl walking alongside in the room is nearly impossible. For the facilities, the gym came with sufficient equipments despite being compact and there was a large pool nearby to the gym with towels accessible to all. Location wise, there are three local food centres with many good food choices nearby, along with many Chinese and fine dining options located at different sides of the hotel just a walking distance away. Though I do comprehend the intentions, what I find unacceptable is the hotel leaving a slice cake together with a handwritten note with bd wishes in our room under MY NAME, despite being really discreet about the upcoming surprise celebration and the identification we use for registration clearly indicates that it was my partner’s bd month instead of mine!! Next, when we approached the front desk to inform the staff on our check-out and we needed a parking coupon to exit the carpark. This Indian guy denied our request and only until I told him I called in before to speak to one of his colleagues, then did he passed the coupon to me. Super shady practices for a chained hotel.
I had a wonderful stay at Mercure ICON Hotel as a solo traveler! I booked my stay here to attend J-Hope's concert at the Indoor Stadium, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. The location is fantastic — just a few steps outside the hotel entrance is the ICON@Club Street building, where Telok Ayer MRT Station is located. It made traveling to the Stadium super easy, just a few MRT stops away with a quick transfer to the yellow line. Fast and convenient! The staff were really friendly and welcoming throughout my stay. I also loved the breakfast buffet, a great selection and everything was fresh. Housekeeping was excellent too, with my room cleaned thoroughly every day. Another nice touch was the café in the lobby. perfect for relaxing with a drink or dessert after a long day before heading up to my room. Overall, I had such a great experience and will definitely book Mercure ICON again the next time I come for another concert at the Indoor Stadium! Highly recommended for concert-goers and solo travelers alike.
I have stayed mainly in 4-5 star hotels in Singapore, and overall it was quite good except for the room size. 1. Room size: Not bad for solo use. It may feel cramped for two people. 2. View: The floor-to-ceiling windows on the 13th floor provided a very good experience. 3. Air conditioning: Operates 24 hours, even when you go out, no need to insert the key card. 4. Breakfast restaurant: If rated from low to high, it would be medium. There is a fair variety of food, and there are plenty of seats. 5. Location: You can walk to anywhere; it's within walking distance to the Merlion statue, Chinatown, and Tanjong Pagar (Korean restaurants). 6. Nearby restaurants: There are many diverse options, and there are quite a few decent restaurants on the first floor of the building. 7. The taxi boarding area is about 3-4 times larger than other hotels, so it's not crowded. 8. It seems to be connected to the MRT (I'm not sure because I haven't used it, but there is a connection sign). 9. Cleanliness: The hotel is newly built, so everything is clean, and the interior is nice. 10. Service: Friendly. If I go alone next time, I would consider staying here again. However, for a family of three or more, I would probably book a larger room or choose a different hotel.
Perfect for senior parents and children. Gone are the days that we would book cheaper hotels, as our parents are older and more demanding than children 😅. The location is in the heart of Chinatown, close to whichever hawker of your choosing (Lau Pa Sat or Hong Lim). Their buffet is good for the days where my parents are too tired to walk to the hawkers for breakfast. It's very neat and clean, but there are small variations to the menu daily so I wouldn't recommend having it all the time. But overall very fuss free stay in this hotel.

“The room is small, the bathroom is small, and the location is good.”
I was quite worried given the many reviews about the room size, but it’s really a great place just to sleep. I usually came back around 10-11 PM after going out from 9-10 AM, and it was perfect for that. I wanted to enjoy Southeast Asian fruits, so I signed up for breakfast, but for three days I only got watermelon, melon, and pineapple. The quality wasn’t bad, but I think getting breakfast isn’t really necessary. There is an underground passage connected to the hotel and the subway, and the location is really good since there are many tourist spots nearby. It was nice and close to Dongbang Eats, Chinatown (Songpa Bak Kut Teh, Toast Box, Ya Kun Kaya Toast, supermarket, etc.), Indian temple, and Satay Street, all within walking distance. Merlion Park is quite far under the heat, but there are malls and large buildings in between, making it manageable to move around in the heat. The refrigerator wasn’t cool at all, so I didn’t use it, and I drank detox water provided in the lobby on the first floor or bought 1-liter bottles from the convenience store which lasted me three days. There was some visible dust on the floor, but the bedding and areas I used were clean. The bathroom was cramped, but I got used to it over time. I recommend this accommodation for those with tight travel schedules in Singapore. It's good value for money! There’s a popular Australian gelato place right in front of the accommodation, so I stopped by there too. The hotel pool also looked quite nice. The gym is small with about five machines. Just a heads up! I was pretty satisfied overall. (By the way, you don’t really need an adapter. USB charging is available, and plugging in our country’s 220V works easily and charges well.)
