“Beautiful resort.. all you need to know! ”
All you need to know 1) Room and facilities. We got the Seaview room, the view was just breathtaking from our terrace. The room was quite spacious and the AC was working perfectly. Housekeeping cleaned and changed towels daily. With the windows closed, the room was sound proof (the resort was pretty quiet anyway). The wifi was working most of the time (could’ve been a tad better but I guess that’s the standard on the island). Again it’s a beautiful resort, full of greenery and has a gorgeous deck overlooking the sea. The deck is filled with sunbeds (shaded/ not shaded) and hammocks. The bed in our room had nets to protect against mosquitoes (we didnt get bit that much, probably because we used a local mosquito repellent). The room also had a kettle, tv, mini fridge, closet and blackout curtains. Electricity was working most of the time. 2) Sea: During low tide, you can walk on nungwi beach towards the busier side of the beach but prepared with sunblock, hat, beach shoes etc... it can get really hot and you are guaranteed to get sunburned. During high tide/low tide, you can also swim on the beach but the sweet spot is just in between high and low tide - make sure to watch out for sea urchins. The busier side of nungwi is less rocky but Its still a beautiful walk along the cost right next to the hotel because there are little caves visible during low tide and you can have ur own little private beach/ shaded area. 3) Food: Breakfast was very mid. Some days the food tasted better/fresher than other days but there is definitely room for improvement. They might have cut the fruit with a knife that had been used on some other veggies. The restaurant at the hotel could also be a lot better, especially because you might not be leaving the resort too often. You Must try the MANGOS (juice and/or cut open). The fish curry was pretty good too, pizza was alright, sambosas were nice too. The cake was superb (with frosting). I liked the coffee served there but it costs 4$ and sometimes would like more than 25 mins to be served if a generator needed to be turned on. There are a few restaurants a short distance away but we noticed that it was quite a hassle getting around (want to walk on the beach? Is it high or low tide. Want to go walk on the streets? But there are no lights at night and quiet dodgy (we were 3 girls). Want to take a taxi? We’ll your in for a very very very very very bumpy ride, would not recommend that. Cost: cocktails are about 8$. Meal is about the 13$. Beer is 3$. Snacks are about 4$. Appetisers 7$. 4) the staff were super helpful. They were always trying their best and if you’d ask for something from outside the hotel, they’d make sure to assist or provide guidance.The staff were very sweet and friendly, they definitely made sure we were happy. The hotel does not normally do room service so just ask on the phone if they can drop the stuff to your room or whether you’d need to go to the bar to collect. Im fairly reasonable, I feel like this hotel was great pick but would have i choose closer hotel to nungwi next time visiting? YES AND NO ANSWER BELOW. YES because 1) it would be easier walking around and exploring the town/ shops. Whist the standards could be lower in hotels near the busier beach, there are more restaurants options within a short walking distance and a lot to see on the beach revolving around the locals NO because: 2) I want a more laid back vacation, have privacy, enjoy exquisite views yet still have the option to explore if I wanted to. PSA: you can stay at this hotel and have the best of both words but you’ll need to be active and adventurous because the path are a little rough.
