I stayed at a mountain hotel located by Lake Ashi. While it undeniably has a lot of history and is somewhat old, it was very calming and relaxing. The room was old but clean, and I felt very at ease. Above all, the view from my room on the fourth floor of Lake Ashi was fantastic. The meals were also very delicious, especially the French cuisine. The breakfast, including the Eggs Benedict, was incredibly tasty. Additionally, after checking out, I had a Japanese lunch, which was also very delicious. Next to the hotel is the Hakone Shrine, which has a very solemn atmosphere. Lake Ashi is just a one-minute walk away. It was a classic hotel in a truly great location.
I had the best time here. the traditional japanese breakfast was super yummy and the onsen was very enjoyable. We got a corner room so it was spacious and lovely. A very nice escape from tokyo, i saw a lot of locals staying here too. The building has a lot of history to it. we are honoured to have stayed here. One of the best hotels at Hakone. recommend it fully.
We chose this hotel for the lake view but unfortunately didn't get to see Mt fuji since it was cloudy both days we were in Hakone. We came from Osaka and the bus from station from Mishima station to the closest stop to the hotel would have taken 40-50 minutes but only runs about every 30 minutes so we ended up taking a taxi. The bus stop also is a 20 minute walk uphill to the hotel but the hotel has a free shuttle that comes 3 times an hour. Getting to Owakudani from the hotel also takes about 35-40 minutes bc the bus stop is about a 10-15minute walk from the hotel and then another 20 minute ride. So the location isn't exactly the most convenient but I think worth it for the lake view. Note that public transport is pretty limited when it comes to frequency AND time. Besides location though. The actual hotel was amazing. The onsen was indoor and outdoor which was very nice. The staff are very polite. We got in room service for food because there aren't many restaurants around and it was a little pricey but still very good. The room is big for Japan standards and comes with a table and 2 chairs. They also had free Popsicles outside the onsen which we took advantage of. The large garden is beautiful and well worth a stroll. The view from the room of the garden and lake and surrounding mountains was gorgeous.
The hotel is right by Lake Ashi, and you can enjoy the lake view from the room. If you stick your head out a bit on a clear day, you can see Mount Fuji. It’s about a 10-minute walk to Motohakone Port, and the hotel offers a shuttle bus every 20 minutes from 9 AM to 5 PM, which is very convenient. Taking the bus to various attractions is also very easy. Communication in English at the front desk is seamless, and the hotel’s exterior is very beautiful and elegant, featuring a small garden. According to the pictures, it must look stunning when the azaleas are in full bloom in the spring. The room is clean and tidy, with complete facilities, and they provide a small skincare set and tasty snacks. The instructions for wearing the yukata are illustrated in a cute way, and you can wear it to the public bath. The women’s area is on the third floor, and the men’s on the second floor, with a dedicated elevator. The bathing and skincare items are very comprehensive, and there is also a massage chair. Afterward, there are small ice pops to enjoy, making for a very relaxing soak. For one night, we chose the hotel’s Japanese cuisine for dinner, which used seasonal ingredients and was very exquisite with a great taste.

After five years, my senior sister and I drove to Hakone, about an hour from Tokyo. On March 31, we stayed in a standard twin (non-smoking) room with breakfast included. All rooms have a lake view, and they changed our room to an upper floor as we requested in advance. The room was 30 square meters with two semi-double beds, and the chic decor was perfect. In the drawers, they provided yukatas and pajamas in L/M sizes, which were very useful. The refrigerator was stocked with drinks, to be settled at checkout. There was a complimentary tea set and two bottles of water. Additionally, an essential air purifier was installed, which was great. The room had a bathtub, but we thoroughly enjoyed the large public bath at Ashinoko Onsen. The large bath included an indoor bath, an outdoor bath, and a mist sauna (like a waterfall!), with each washing area separated for privacy. The water temperature was high, providing relaxation for both mind and body. The changing room had a massage chair that did not require coins, where a foreign guest seemed to be enjoying a nap. We were also impressed by the special service offering candy with fruit juice at the entrance and exit. For breakfast, we savored delicious Japanese cuisine at the restaurant on the lobby floor. After the meal, we enjoyed coffee in a lounge with a mantlepiece on the first floor, spending a luxurious moment. The area around the hotel had mixed rain and sleet since the night before, and it seems snow had accumulated in Lake Motosu on the opposite side of Gotemba, reminding us to be very careful while driving during this time. It was the first time I didn't see Mount Fuji while in Hakone, but I was very satisfied to spend a peaceful time in a hotel full of hospitality.
