Patan hotels & places to stay

we stayed at Boutique Heritage Home for 3 nights in Nov. The building is absolutely beautiful, particularly the courtyard which has been restored to a high level. Breakfast is exceptional - best porridge I've tasted in weeks, fresh fruits, toast, eggs, peanut butter coffee tea etc. Great big comfy bed with clean sheets. Bedrooms cleaned every day with fresh towels. Located down a side alley off a busy street in Patan, it's a little oasis away from the mayhem outside. Located less than 5 mins walk from Patan Sq and a Himalayan Java coffee shop. Not so many western tourists around this area. If youre looking for 'touristy' then you'd be better off in Thamel. Best restaurants around include the Inn Patan and Cafe Swootha. The owner lives on site with his family and the entire staff were super friendly. Only downside is they dont have a restaurant on site.

Hotel Goodwill has many qualities: space, relax atmosphere, a beautiful, large and well maintained swimming pool. At our October 2013 visit, the staff was friendly and qualified. The down-side was the very noisy room we had: everything could be heard from the neighbouring room and outside terrace. Dogs outside barked most of the night. Still, we enjoyed a very well furnished, modern room with a functional bathroom, everything spotless. The hotel is a short walk from either Patan Durbar Square on one side and Lagankhel bus station, from where you can take a bus to either Kathmandu or Bhaktapur.

Staying at Yamba Traditional House and meeting Pradeep was a great pleasure! The building itself is beautifully restored and the location in Patan is ideal. It's much less hectic than central Kathmandu and just around the corner from Patan Durbar Square, one of the best cultural sites in the city. We had so much fun people watching and sipping masala tea in the surrounding cafes every evening. Pradeep's hospitality cannot be beat. We had hot breakfasts every morning and his family even prepared a traditional meal for us since we were visiting over a holiday! When the holiday prevented us from getting cash at a bank, Pradeep was so gracious and helpful. We highly recommend Yamba Traditional Home and will certainly stay there again on our next trip to Nepal!

Just got back from a month in Nepal and stayed at the Inn Patan when we arrived in Kathmandu and before we left. I don't know where to begin with my review, Everything about the inn was amazing. First, the property itself is beautiful. They really spent the time to refurbish the Inn and paid attention to all the details. The rooms were each unique in their own way. We had friends who stayed in 2 of the other rooms, so I had a chance to check them out. The bed was extremely comfortable and room was very clean. The breakfast was fantastic. Lots of choices and a bit extra large.The location couldn't be better. Its down a quiet alley right off a small busy street. A short 3 minute walk to Patan Durbar Square. Lots of restaurants and COFFEE shops. Secondly, and most importantly, the staff. All of the staff at the Inn were great. They were there to help us with everything we could need and were extremely friendly.The owner was around and would often check in with us during meals to make sure everything was ok. The Inn Patan has to be one of the best Inn / Hotels I have ever stayed in. I can't think of one thing to improve upon. I will be headed back to Kathmandu for a month and plan to spend it at the Inn Patan

I got upgraded with Shakya when I arrived late at nite . I booked it two hours prior my arrival , the owner was kind enough to arrange everything : pick up - food for me . I arrived like 12 at nite . The room is extremely clean , well located in patan , Patan touristic spots = 12 mins walk . But it's still very peaceful ! Bfast was good ! I was pleased !! The staff were kind ! Since I'm a female solo Traveller , the owner do make sure I'm all fine . When I got lost , he would quickly find me a pick up . Even if it's late at nite . Plus , he was very responsive ! From arranging my ticket to pokhara - Makinh sure I wld wake up at 6 am to catch for my bus . It was a lovely stay , u can c the owner really put the effort to make your stay as pleasant as possible ! :)

This hotel located at the old town near the square, I love the building very much with all those traditional windows. The room is amazing and the staff there are nice. We arrive to the hotel very early because the overnight bus arrive to Kathmandu earlier than expected. They let us check in and we have have some sleep before we walk around the city. The famous Patan Durbar Square is just 2 min walk. And there have a local market nearby I am so happy I can have a walk there. The area is more like a heritage place rather than a tourist area like Thamel. I quite enjoyed spending my time there in my birthday. P.s breakfast is nice too!

This hotel, if you do not use the international star rating standard, is indeed very nice in the Kathmandu area. It is not in the Kathmandu center Thamel. It is in Patan. While Thamel is pretty much not much expect tourist trap shops, Patan is a much more pleasant place to stay. With old temples and narrow street to walk around. The staff and the two young owners are going out of their ways to help in every aspect. The room is large. The property is new and very clean.

We knew we were in for a special treat when we found the side entrance to Lalit which took us into a traditional inner courtyard which included a local family's shrine. Our hosts were very accommodating, so kind and generous with their knowledge, time and resources to help make our stay enjoyable and stress-free. The rooms were well appointed and offered everything we needed. Our friends took advantage of a charming room with a romantic view overlooking Patan Square, while my traveling companion and I opted for the standard room which offered us everything we needed. The breakfast, which was included, was delicious and offered everything we needed to fuel us for a full day of sight seeing. Our hosts helped arrange for taxis and other services that would have been difficult for us to get on our own and ensured that we were not overcharged by confirming fees in advance. Lalit allowed us an authentic Nepali experience, while not having to suffer any inconvenience that we went through at other local establishments - we found that Lalit offered much more than the local 5-star hotel which our tour company had booked us at! We know where we will stay when we return to Nepal.

It's really weird for me to say that hot water is one of the best thing in this hotel, but it is... Some hotels that cost more than this, cannot even guarantee 24 hours hot water so you have to schedule your show. The thing i love most about this place is the interior and architecture. We chose to stay at the attic house and it was a large room. We even had our own porch. The bed cover was amazing! It was at least 7cm thick so it kept me so warm at night. The wifi is also fast. Breakfast is amazing at Cafe Swotha and the place is actually recommended. The most amazing experience must be the staff, they basically arrange everything for us... good money exchange rate, transportation, where we should go. The best thing is the location, which is about 2 minute walk to Patan Durbar square and all the surrounding market. The only minor setback is the gas heater. I wish that they hotel can install centralized heating system. If we turn on the gas heater, it smells like gas, but if you open the window to let the gas out, the air is too cold. I would recommend everyone who is visiting Katmandu to stay here.

I stayed 6 nights here, do to some work I had in Patan. After a long day of work it was a pleasure to come back to the hotel, where I would enjoy a hot shower in a clean bathroom. Allthough Nepal has power cuts, I had light and electricity at all times. Due to the few rooms (i think 5?) it is very personal. The staff is very helpful with any questions. I was even accompanied to the busstop for pokhara, to make sure i would find the correct bus. For me breakfast is very important. And here at the life story, I was surprized every day with a delicious, well ballanced home made breakfast of eggs, carbs and fruit. You can also have meals here, I never did tho. How ever I had an other guest tell me, that they make the best food he had in Nepal. Next time I'll definately have to try. This is your home, if you are looking for a quiet, compfy place where u feel a true guest and whitness of the newary way of living. - Also if u dont mind hearing the ceremonies in the tempel at 5am.

Firstly, booking a room was no issue. But, I did had to Google Map to navigate the House. However, it's really close to Patan Durbar Square which is one of the Tourist Attraction. The staffs were very helpful and the cleanliness of the room was very good especially the Toilet which was equipped with modern facilities. Even though my stay in Lumbini Heritage House was brief, it was very comfortable throughout.

I stayed in the hotel for 18 days since March 2 to March 20,2018 for only 370 USD (with breakfast) via Agoda.com. Isn't that cheap? It's like only 1,000 PHP per day, and breakfast is already included. Location: I chose this hotel mainly because of the location, which is just a few minutes away from Patan Durbar Square and Labim Mall. Few minutes walk is the bus station (Lalitpur Yaatiyat),grocery and restaurants are nearby. Hospital and banks are just walking distance too. The bus station there always go to Ratna Park and other places in Kathmandu and just cost 15 rupees. Internet connection: On my first week, Wi-Fi is reliable and have goodhave connection that I can watch in Netflix and videochat all day long. The last few days of my stay, Wi-Fi router was having problems (that was already fixed the day I checked out) Room: I stayed in Room # 3, which is quite comfortable. They always clean my room (if I tell them to make up) and provide toiletries (soap,shampoo,tissue). Only problem was I watchdidn't able to watch the TV since I arrived, which is forgivable if you won't stay in your room the whole day, though. Staff: All of the staff are very friendly and accommodating that's why I'm very comfortable. I would want to say Kudos to Bijay Khadka, he was not really from Patan but from Nana Yala Chhen in Thamel branch but he made my stay memorable and will sure stay there again if he would be the one on duty.HAHA. Miss you ! You can also store your luggage if you need to check in or check out early. Try their chocolate truffles,I loved it! Overall, I can recommend to my friends and followers Nana Yala Chhen. I never eexperienced black out there,like I mostly read about the hotel reviews around Kathmandu.

Despite the hard beds, I would still stay here again and recommend this place. Staff are so nice, place is clean and shower had plenty of hot water. After staying in thamal when I initially arrived in Kathmandu, I was eager to stay in a quieter area of town after I returned from Pokhara. The hotel is difficult for cab drivers to find. Once we were taken to the yellow house in Thamel and another two times the cab drivers were confused on where to go despite being given the address and shown a map (the cab driver ended up calling the hotel to get us there). On the second day, we had one of the staff write directions in Nepali on how to get to the hotel and we had no further issues getting back to the hotel. The rooms are beautifully decorated, very clean and the hotel has hot water 24 hours a day even during power cuts. Breakfast was included and was great, lots of choices and high quality. I often had tea, croissants and fresh fruit and my husband would have crepes and coffee. Staff goes out of their way to help you and are all so pleasant. The place was a good value for the money. The one downside was that the beds were the hardest beds we slept on during our 2 weeks in Nepal. I felt like I was sleeping on a board. There were some comforters in the closet and I laid those down under the sheets to get a slightly more comfortable nights sleep.

This guesthouse is truly a gem. I recommend all travelers to stay here at least for 1-2 nights. It's a restored heritage home right in the heart of Patan, and just a few minutes-walk to the Patan Durbar Square. Price-wise, it's significantly cheaper than all other hotels in Patan/Lalitpur (I stayed at others as well) and offers a safe, clean, unique abode. The power does go out for hours at a time, but they have small lamps and more importantly, the high-speed internet, running on battery at all times. Breakfast is simple and filling and is different every day. I asked the owner for recommendations on food I could order from outside (there's no restaurant/room service), and he took care of it for me, even delivering it up to my room! Newa Chen offers a great chance to stare out the windows and observe daily life in the narrow lanes of old-town Patan. Plus, it's so convenient for shopping. Note that the ceilings really are very low--I'm only 5'4" and felt like I would hit my head while standing up in my room--but it makes for an interesting experience nevertheless.

we reached patan in the evening, the taxi driver didn't know the exact location and he asked a few locals to give direction. it is not easy to find this place as there are no street names and the streets are very narrow. it is a beautifully restored heritage building, a very unique place to stay in. the house is clean. as you are aware that it is an old building, so the ceiling is a bit low. you may face some difficulty if you are more than 170cm tall. the next morning, we walked to patan durbar square. it is in good location where basically we can just walk around patan from the guest house. very friendly staff. overall a pleasant stay for us.

Durbar Guesthouse was one of my best experiences in Patan. It is located into an old mansion, traditional architecture, and has also rooftop terace with astonishing views over the old Patan. Om (the landlord) is very friendly, he helped me booking ticket to Chitwan, and offered me the family room when his guesthouse was full. I liked the place and came there even for the second time because it is a very good value for money. I strongly recommend this guesthouse if you want to get in touch with the real sense of the Nepali culture and get to know its people, exactly as they are.

This is truly a family homestay, the Sanus house family and especially Sarita are warm hearted and genuinely care for you throughout the stay. The house and rooms are clean, with good wifi, anytime hot water, quiet and well stocked library, nice rooftop with view of patan and a filtered water tap. The house is also well located next to public (and private) transport stations and is a close walk to the centre of Patan. Sarita is a top hostess with very good local knowledge and will help guide you around the area with ease if that is what you need. She makes delicious homecooked meals, and although lunch and dinner are typically not included in your base rate I highly recommend you take the option as they are affordable, delicious and gives an insight into typical everyday nepali food.

This guest house is absolutely lovely. The staff is wonderful. The design aesthetic is wonderful. I stayed 3 nights, but lived a couple blocks away for 4 months. This area- Patan Durbar Square- is one of the best experiences of Nepali life in Kathmandu. It is BUSTLING, but not with tourists. Everyone is out making the most of life. The buildings in this are are the prettiest in town. I love walking out the door and feeling like I'm really in Nepal. There are also quiet a few restaurants and cafes in the area. You'll likely see in the other reviews that this guest house is not for the super tall. It's a traditional Newari home, so the ceilings are low. I had no issue with it at 5'-1" and I think it added to the experience. Give it a try even if you're taller. You may love it.

The rooms in this historical building are large, clean, equipped with every comfort. Hot water and WiFi works well. The common area on the ground floor is very small but the terrace is beautiful and has a wonderful view over the golden temple, and the guesthouse is located just 3 mins walk from Durbar square. Staff was nice (I didn’t get answer to my request for information about airport transfer, but i wrote only two days in advance). The breakfast was superb, with organic jam, fresh yogurt, eggs prepared at the moment, pastries etc. if you are a light sleeper, better to ask a room on higher floor, because the one I had was on the first floor right on top of the reception and you could also hear the families living in the attached buildings. The street and the whole area is very quiet after 9pm.
