“Very good”
I am somewhat conflicted how to rate the place, because the overall facilities are good, the food is the best deal you get in the village ( they have one vegetarian option, and apparently the only restaurant in the village that serves fish(!), there are options for diving and snorkeling ( which we didn't use but many others do), and the staff is very friendly. You are as close as it gets to the beach, and you get free pick up from and to the ferry. However, we stayed in a Japanese style room next to the restaurant and that was not a good value for money. The room and the common showers need renovation. You share the floor with two other rooms and I am guessing the room for the staff, and although they were super nice girls, the floor of the common toilet was always full of hair which clearly didn't belong to the guests. The showers on the first floor are shared with people who use the diving facilities and were not in clean condition. No matter how much you try, you always bring some sand in the room and there were no options for getting it cleaned ( maybe I should have asked for cleaning or a broom, but I assume this is a service that should be included in such a place). We paid about ***per night for two, breakfast included, and I don't think this room with these facilities is worth this price. Aharen beach is beautiful, however, the tide brings garbage and some visitors leave garbage on the beach, and nobody cleans it. There is at least one sea turtle living in the bay and I saw it trying to munch on a plastic bag on the bottom of the sea... Not sure why the handful of accommodations ( all of them offering diving and snorkeling services!), or the island authorities, don't organise for cleaning the beach. While I overall loved my holidays there, I think one should choose another type of room, and also asked for cleaning of the room ( fresh towels are provided daily), and please don't leave garbage on the beach.
